You're an immigrant. Just as I am.

He is a tourist but since he has Spanish residency permit the Schengen rules do not apply. An immigrant is someone who wants to live and work in another country. If he worked in Poland and stayed for purposes of life and work long term, got a green card and stayed in Poland and was taxed in Poland he would be an immigrant. But in both cases he would be an expat. Americans are double taxed by the U. S. government no matter where they live so becoming an immigrant to another country is not a good idea if you are just interested in long term travel

Living in CHILI, Spain & now Poland & USA? You can do so since you have very little income. Taxes will be low. Not possible for anyone successful who is tied of paying high taxes.

There are actually countries with low or even zero taxes like Dubai for example. I guess that you will have to choose between money and quality of life, I choose the latter.

Oh my God, prices in Wrocław for hiring a place are much higher than in Liverpool. I must rise the rent Ukrainians pay me for 2 bed flat, only 1200 zł per month in Rybnik. It is getting crazy expensive in Poland, good luck. I remember 2010 when I rented a flat in Rybnik, ul. Wandy in high-rise building 76 square metre, 4 bed, 520 zł rent, about 100 for gas and electricity. It seems I cannot afford to come back to Poland, it is more expensive than UK in some cities.

My understanding is there were some dangerous neighborhoods here 20 or 30 years ago. But that has since changed. It's now a vibrant city, undergoing a revival in many of these former places. It's also becoming quite an international city now. Attracting many foreign visitors.
