      @@idahoman325 They can't apply any tax but every once in a while some more right wing Jewish organization tries to raise claims for a compensation which sours the relations. But no, most of people who survived the war don't speak about it because it's too painful and brings back memories of personal trauma. In one of my grandparents home they have never talked about the war. For instance I only found out what my grandfather went through after he died and it was still told to me with a lowered voice almost as if it was a secret I should never talk about, the same with my grandma from that home. My other grandma only opened up about what she's gone through when I was in my early or mid twenties. I don't recall ever being told explicitly not to ask but it was almost an untold rule in the family never to bring this up.

    • @dotcassilles1488
      @dotcassilles1488 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Maybe because of the hollowing out of the inside of the tree. Most trees that are hollow have been rotten inside and the rot continues to the point where it kills the tree or causes the tree to fall.
      The combination of rot and being exposed to the rain and wind can be enough to kill the tree.

    One of the most amazing stories I know about was of a sizeable group of Jews [Men, Women and Children] who hid underground in complete darkness for over a year and a half .......in Rumania if I remember correctly.
    Until today this feat holds the world record for such a triumph of existence and sheer will to live.
    Certain people would go out at night when possible to look for food and water but the majority never ventured outside for fear of being discovered and killed.
    At one stage the group was discovered and the 'friendly' locals tried to bury them alive by filling in that part of the cave system with dirt but being so extensive the system allowed the group to move elsewhere, lie low for some days and convince the locals that they had suffocated.
    People became so accustomed to the dark that even up to today as one 'then child' survivor stated when descending into the depths after 60 years or more: Aaaaaaaah..now I feel more at home".'
    At wars end the group came out of hiding and went about starting new lives far from the darkness and hatred.

    Natalia Romik has done remarkable work in documenting the Holocaust-era hideouts used by Jews in Poland. I wish she could somehow help the Ukrainians to create their own survival architecture like they did in Poland years ago. Tragically, history is repeating itself after Russia's invasion of Ukraine. I pray that somehow Putin will be stopped but in the meantime I send my healing thoughts and wishes for the Ukrainians as well as to all civilian casualties in other wars like Afghanistan. Let peace and peace and peace be everywhere. Upanishads. Jenny

      Pretty sure MANY of these WWII Era Jewish hideouts exist in Ukraine today. Ukrainians were some of the most vicious Nazi collaborators during WWII. I do, however, have sympathy for what Ukrainians are enduring today, under attack by Russia. Ukrainians must/will be victorious...Poland is next on Putin's list.

      The Germans move forward because they survived a war they created and never had to pay for it because the US saw the bigger enemy in the Soviet Union and let all the Nazis live their life with their family. Germans git all the money and support from the US and they act like Nazis weren't their grandfathers.

      You know nothing about German or European history. Germans moved forward by sweeping their crimes under the carpet. Germans never faced their past, they try to forget it. Germany never took responsibility for its crimes against the Polish people. Majority of Polish victims was never compensated by Germany. Germany enriched itself on the suffering of Poles. German companies exploited Polish people as slaves. Germans looted Poland stealing bank reserves, natural resources, artwork, private and state owned property. Today most Germans are completely unaware what their ancestors did to Poland.
