David’s right. I chased this train and got to listen to the lever whistle and the six chime whistle and 2 different crossing. And I can tell you that the lever whistle is 2x louder than the 6 chime.
@thompsonriverrailfan it is going to Mexico, if they weren't they would announce it publicly and they would have to change the live train tracker that shows its route to Mexico City.
The steam train is to celebrate the merger of two railroads. Canadian Pacific in Canada with Kansas City Southern in the United States, and the old engine is travelling from Calgary Alberta, Canada to Mexico City where the Kansas City track ends, and eventually it will return to be stored in Canada when the trip ends.
There's no better way to spend a fine spring day than watching this historic locomotive.
An Absolute Jewel from the Royal Crown Jewels
Great stuff. One of the better videos I've seen so far from the tour!
I was in the photo line at Portage & Falls River. I believe I set up right next to you in Falls River. Awesome video!
Awesome stuff! Hoping to catch it down south.
4:28 great diesel horn sound
ironically its not from the diesel, its actually from the theater car
They need to give it a CP 5-chime. Either that, or have the CPKC shops build it a custom whistle.
I think the Diesel locos have steam generator in them to provide steam heat to the cars 🎉 awesome train!
no they dont because every passenger cars in the north america are all electric driven, theres already a generator car to get the job done
Nice video Michael :)
Depends on how many chimes
I saw it pass through hastings
Oh wow! Harstings, MN? Looks like I in the video. I know where that bridge is. Bummer I missed it
Why is there a horn in the back of the train?
I would assume for when it backs up.
Why does the whistle sound so sick?
It’s a lever-operated whistle. It had to be added because the normal whistle was supposedly not loud enough.

One side is level operated and the conductor side is manually operated. from what i’ve heard.
Train go from Canada via USA to Mexico ? Why ?

@@regularguy7266 have a look at the route published on the official CPKC website, that's where I got my info.

@@MikeM-oq9pz it's not a merger at all, CP bought out KCS/KCSM.
