I just discovered your channel today and seen a lot of your videos and let me say they are amazing, keep up the amazing videos and I wish I had found you sooner. And I have played this game so basically you can press F5 to quick save when you're not sure to make an official save and if that save is good you can just use quick load with f9 and save officialy
@LunarVVolf yeah the older windows were compatible for older games but the new ones face a lot of issues and even if you turn on compatibility of older windows it still doesn't do anything, windows xp will always be in our hearts ❤️❤️
I just dusted off my ps3 just to playt his again. Just existing in the world was enough purpose to progress just to get the hell out of there. You felt alone, helpless, hopeless and just barely getting by. What a world they built. Cant wait to play this again
The whole no fast travel thing is because the game is supposed to constantly throw small problems that can be worked through, got caught off guard and your car broke down and your holding out against a bunch of enemies and a jammed gun. That is what the game devs wanted.
This game had incredible atmosphere and graphics, shame the missions were all the exact same either blow something up or kill someone over and over again.
And EVERY time you get a mission, the questgiver says "this is an undercover operation btw, so our guys won't know you're working for us - so they will shoot you on sight". Yeah, THAT makes sense. It's just a super lazy way to not bother programming friendly AI.
That and lack of wildlife plus lack of colour variation. I also feel a flashlight or nightvision could have helped a lot in this game since nights gets daaark. Evertything is a bit brown and yellow. I hope they return to Africa. I also feel modern Far Cry misses potentiall with the nights, to bright and no options to freely use lights and nightvision.
There is wildlife but killing them is useless because the devs thought making them resources would encourage players to farm them (which is hilarious considering where they went with 3 and 4).
Several notes from someone that played a lot of far cry 2. 1. The game, in tradition with the franchise at this point, handles saves weirdly as it creates a save slot EVERY TIME you quick save. As a person that saved often I managed to get hundreds of saves that increased the size of the game by several GB.... 2. Traveling by water boats is the fastest and most hassle free way to move around as you bypass many outposts. 3. The amount of invisible walls seriously hampers the game and how artificial the land feels, especially considering how little verticallity there is. 4. The wild animals (only herbivores) feel like more like decoration than actual wildlife 5. Enemies NEED to be headshoted by a silenced gun to be able to stealth. Knife kills and bodyshots cause them to scream which alerts their friends, therefore stealth is only possible with silent weapons. 6. To buy all upgrades and guns you need all 1000 diamonds. Thankfully many cars are useless so you don't much need em. 7. MGL is the most op gun in the game. It has so much range and accuracy you don't need a sniper rifle or an explosive weapon. 8. Malaria and weapon degradation are neat features but can be completely negated by preparation. In the end you only gotta go to your armory every once in a while and the pills are generous enough that you can just do the side mission once in a while.
@oinkooink not a bad idea but I personally prefer having multiple saves so if I want to replay just a part of the game I like, instead of needing to replay the ENTIRE game, I just load it up. Also, every quicksave is a new save. Just got in a fight, barely survived and ducked behind cover and poped a save? That's a new save slot
Love this game...still think it's the most immersive in the series. But my GOD did the NPC's speak inexplicably fast, without pausing between sentences. Its like Ubisoft was trying save space in the game's audio files or something.
I think this is a bug on PC because of higher clocksspeed with CPU's. I remember playing this on the 360, and I don't remember this was a thing back than. Or its just Mandela effect.
Hidden mechanics like turning off the headlights while driving at night are some of the few stealth mechanics that were incredible to discover. There are no indicators or obvious mechanics to stealth and that made it seem that much more tense and immersive. The AI was tenacious and at times terrifyingly clever, like hiding from sniper fire until they could get into multiple vehicles to charge your position rapidly, or even if you enter a gun store or safe house believing you've lost a pursuing tail, there is a chance they'll be waiting to ambush you the moment you leave. The game is a rather rough and clunky dimond, but its difficulty to traverse encouraged me to play more seriously and plan how I was going to navigate the many roads, rivers, and footpaths through the map just as much as how I would accomplish the mission objective. Some objectives were repetitive, but this was never a problem for me when the location and environments were always different. If I could describe the game in a sentence, it would be: hardcore enough to be unpredictable, hostile, and punishing, but casual enough to explore, experiment, and find any solution on-hand to solve any problem. The experience of failure, often out from under you or due to no fault of your own was frustrating, but was equally gratifying to get creative to find your way out of a bad situation, and plan for new solutions using new weapons, equipment, or a different way of travel to avoid it next. Sure the player may get new weapons and upgraded vehicles, but the player themselves becomes the greatest advantage after gaining more experience. FC2 is a game you can never be truly safe, or master; its a game where you always need to have your whits about you, and expect the unexpected at all times. For that reason it is one of my favorites to date.
@@dutchvanderlinde913 he had a pretty flat, monotone voice and wasn't all that interesting in delivery, and that kind of happened to all of the characters in this game. They talk so fast that it feels like they're reading straight off the script with no context. His character had a really nice philosophy in the tapes and he's a really cool character
I agree that the actor was good. The voice direction on the other hand was very strange. Everyone spoke way too fast and flat. It reminded me of when I watch something at 1.25 speed.
@@sillylilstella why can't anyone handle a normal paced conversation anymore? Do you need someone to talk like a nursery teacher to a toddler? The way they talk is fine.
This game was way ahead of its time, the in depth singleplayer, the realism, the map editor, the insanely fun multiplayer and the awesome community... this game in my opinion was the best Far Cry, I still don't know why it doesn't get a remaster.. such a shame I would play this on 360 every night online with friends... miss those days so much!
@@MJBrabantNZL Fr? I guess people have different tastes. I’ve never played fallout but god damn far cry 3 is amazing. I’m on my third play through rn it’s awesome
This game IS NOT for everyone, not for someone who likes basic shooters and just wants to "check this game out randomly for fun" But for those who would appreciate some masochistic experience of the particular quirks this game has(immersion, a mild surival-realism feel, patience, unfair difficulty), this game is a gem 😀
I played this game a lot back when it came out and I liked it, but I remember being very frustrated with the respawning checkpoint guards being a constant factor, for all the reasons you said.
FC 2 is one of my favorite games of all time. Easily beat it anywhere from 8-12 times, most play throughs being on Infamous difficulty (and on console at that, so no quick saves). It’s definitely not for everyone, and it definitely has shown some age when going back to play it recently. But all of that aside, the atmosphere and the immersion is bar none of any other game I’ve played. The minimal HUD, (mostly) intelligent enemy AI, the gun sounds and recoil, the day and night and weather cycles, the enemy battle chatter, and just the sheer difficulty of it... it all comes together to make a really, really intense and unique atmosphere, and when playing on higher difficulties, it really forces you to take a step back and think about how you wanna tackle your objectives. The game is certainly flawed, but I would love to see a developer (certainly not Ubisoft as they same to have lost all sense of originality) take the ethos and setting of Far Cry 2 and add some polish to it. A modern day soul sequel with an actually well written story and speaking protagonist, a world that feels more alive with civilian NPCs and settlements, predatory wildlife, and buddies who you can actually interact with outside of dying/missions, but whom you could instead call on YOURSELF to help you tackle objectives... man, that could make for a phenomenal game.
I honestly wasn't a big fan of the story. It wasn't bad, it just seemed like a bad fit for an open-world game. It would have been nice if the Jackal had actually existed on the maps somewhere and if the player had actually had to look for information on his location. Same problem with the factions. They are there to provide a linear string of missions to get to the end, nothing more unfortunately. But otherwise I fully agree. The atmosphere and high detail of weather and environments and AI-behaviour are what really elevates this one above most other open-world-shooters. And I have always liked that stealth is more of a precarious option that can fail at any moment. It is a perfectly viable approach, but not easy.
Id love to see an opening to the soul sequel with our protagonist in some dodgey african hotel room, drunk out of his mind , like martin sheen in apocalypse now
@@burningsheep4473 I don't think the story was bad for open-world at all, it was just delivered poorly and awkwardly due to other various reasons. I don't know how you feel about FC3, but many of that game's objectives are character centric. Save (person), kill (person). But those character's only exist within their specific missions. Nowhere does the game utilize its open-world structure to emphasize story beats. People were more engaged with 3's story because everything was delivered so much cleaner and more cinematic. In FC2, your character actually forgets about killing the Jackal immediately after your first encounter with him. It isn't their goal. The Jackal himself states that "you could tell them you tried, but that means nothing. You had one shot, you blew it, now you're fired. You know it and so do I. And since you only work for money, looks like you gotta find new work." And from that moment on the journal never expresses interest in wanting to kill the Jackal, only to survive malaria and make the country their home (in their own mercenary way). But it's a story beat so badly delivered that nobody picks up on it, even I didn't for a long time.
@@Ad-im1ne The issue with that is that the Jackal remains central to the story nevertheless and it eventually all comes back to him. What I'm criticizing is mostly just that an open world game with such great atmosphere and immersion is so very old and tired in the story department. FC2 is good at background and the subject matter of the plot fits that of course. But it's very conventional and does have almost nothing to do with other mechanics. Other than being set at locations in the open world and still using FPS-mechanics. But it doesn't really use the freedom of the open world or the factions and neither does it try to do anything with exploration. Oh, and cutscenes of course.
@@burningsheep4473 The Jackal's whole character is built around his mysterious and elusive nature, though. His presence is meant to be felt rather than witnessed in the flesh. Only a single reporter was ever able to find him, probably because The Jackal let him. Making him available on the map, though a potential marvel of narrative branching, would undermine one of his most distinct and fearful qualities. That being said, I think I see what you mean on the linearity of it all. There's a single mission in the whole game which presents moral choice (asking you to either protect your friends or random civilians)... and both decisions have the same outcome promptly afterward. There's also only a handful of optional story related moments which the player finds thorough exploration, yet they're by far the most memorable. Even the best way story intertwined with gameplay was through the reputation system, which was itself obscure, one-dimensional, and only progressed so far as the plot. Maybe it's a tall order for an '08 game which was already innovating in so many other ways, but it's fun to dream of what could've been.
Far Cry 2 was a near masterpiece. I loved selecting between mercenaries with different backgrounds, the setting is gorgeous, the fire propagation still has no equal, the world was gritty and “real,” the malaria and firearm decay were great as it enhanced the drama, The Jackal was far underrated as a villain, and I could continue. We need a remaster with non bullet sponge enemies, non respawning checkpoints, and voiced protagonists.
Masterpiece of trash. FC1 was fun and not boring like FC2. Too much doing nothing driving around not much action vs FC1. AI is not good neither is the mouse keyboard feel.
i just remember get sniped by enemies i could never see and giving up on the game as a result. I didn't have an HD tv so it was impossible and frustrating.
It was hard on console even in HD. I played it recently for the first time on PC (200+ fps which was orgasmic) and it was night and day as far as being able to spot and down targets in the foliage. He's playing the PC version in this video because it has terrible glitches with all the NPCs which weren't present in the console versions. I prefer being lost and frustrated in the jungle than having a red arrow cursor taking up half the screen indicating the enemy's direction, but that's just my self loathing speaking.
I have always wanted to play thos game. I have played every far cry starting from 3 but i feel like i would like this game the most. This game just has something special in it. Unfortunately its not possible rn for me to play this game
I love this game, love the jackal, love the fire. I just replayed the whole game on infamous difficulty definitely the way to go more challenging and realistic, to be forced to plan out your movement across the map is more immersive than a waypoint.
Cap your framerate at no higher than 60 fps and you'll remove all of the glitches. Most people don't consider that this game came out at a time when high-end PCs weren't yet a mainstream thing.
When I started playing PC games this was one of my first open world adventure game, amazing game of all time, because it constantly keeps you very busy, yes for some it is too much, but it was so much fun for and some of my friends, also the manual map without pausing the games is just icing on top, also as someone who has finished this game multiple times, game is very very cool, moral of story is a bad merc changes and sacrifice yourself to save a lot of people. I loved this game so much, the realism with weapons is very cool, some of my tips - Start doing new weapon mission from the shop as soon as possible, only use new weapons, change them every time you visit a gun shop, also for stealth missions grab a sniper and somehow for every mission there will be a mountain top position get there and finish them (also buy stealth upgrades and car upgrades from shop), then go and take the outpost, fun game. And the graphics even by todays standard is an amazing looking game, has the best sunrises and sunsets. Also use the buses as much as you can. It is like the taxi system from GTA 4. Also save a lot. Also for every mission you have alternatives to work with your buddies who other main characters you did not chose when the game started, do all of them much needed variety and you will need them when you go down they will come and save you. Also extra diamonds baby, buy all the shop upgrades. Also find the golden guns if you can in game, they never get stuck. I have played this game many many times on PC and never seen any of these bugs.
I'm glad you mentioned stealth being nonexistent. Literally have to park your car a football field away from enemies and crouch the whole distance to even TRY to sneak up on them. One thing you didn't mention that I've been finding annoying is that the vehicles get stuck on EVERYTHING. Not only does every slight obstacle completely kill the vehicle's momentum where you have to do k-turns and shit to get around them, but I have literally lost like a dozen vehicles in my current 7 hour playthrough just from getting permanently stuck on some bullshit like a rock or dip in the terrain. Not to mention having to wrench on the damn thing every few minutes, like you mentioned. That being said, I still enjoy the game and playing it now takes me back to being a teenager when it first came out.
Probably too late for this to matter but the animation glitches with the NPCs is caused by a high frame rate, this starts happening around 120fps I believe. I'm pretty sure there's mods that fix this or simply just lock your frame rate to less than 120. Great video though!
Just a friendly reminder my guy. You forgot about the buddy system which also alleviated some of the death situations. Good video over all love this game and I love your opinion on the game
The stealth in the game is imo, more in the vein of "Things WILL go wrong", you either prepare for the inevitable - good balance of weapons, which is why (unpopular opinion here) I loved the weapon limitation, or you do guerilla tactics, sneak in, kill target/destroy something AND THEN RUN. On the topic of gun limitations (Small, medium, big), that forced you to think about a good set of weapons with certain roles "One for demolition, one for stealth, and one for when shit happens". And the boxes that you could leave loaded in advance for stuff you'd like to switch while in the open. That made me avoid the now common "all weapons are basically the same, I'll stick with the one I like the most". Having to buy them (which were also not cheap) also was an important part of this balancing act. Even though there could definitely be some improvements, I still love this game. Super immersive (physical map and all), especially when turning the music off (not a fan of the game's soundtrack unfortunately). Man... makes me wanna play it again lol.
I agree, the stealth is much more realistic, risky, and keeps you from just using one method. It is possible, but very hard and requires lots of planning.
While I can absolutely admit that playing Far Cry 2 is a frustrating experience as it definitely doesn't have many of the features we have come to take for granted in modern open world games. That being said every uncomfortable thing in the game is 100% intentionally there, the character having no voice or motivation? The player character is as one of the quest givers calls you "Just another no name scumbag" this is why you can play as any of the selectable characters at the start it truly does not matter which as they are after the same thing: money. The fast travel only taking you to limited spots on the map? Again intentional they want you to see this massive landscape and experience the full scope of your journey. The weapon degradation? It's a thematic element that everything you touch dies, that nothing is permanent. The entire world being hostile to you? It doesn't stop there the game itself is hostile to the player in almost every way. The developers were clear with their intent the game is a dark nihilistic deconstruction on the fun of a video game.
Excuse this very long text. Pretty spot on review. I do disagree about stealth not being a viable option though. The dart rifle can take out any enemy in one shot, but you have to hit the head if you don’t want your target to alert other guards by screaming. It also makes it so that enemies can’t take cover properly since they won’t know where the shots come from; normal snipers will result in enemies taking cover. The NPCs are actually pretty smart and will often act kinda realistically, so the laser vision mentioned in the video might just be that you have been spotted or have used a weapon that is not silent or makes enemies scream out when engaged. The combat is deeper than one might expect, but never properly explained, so it’s not strange at all that most people won’t know these details. But I think it might also be a reason a lot of people like myself love this entry of the series. There’s almost no handholding. For better or worse.
I wish they'd either remake FC2 fixing all the issues and introducing some of the new mechanics (and improving upon those too) or just make a new FC game which revisits Africa.
At night time traveling alone in the jungles with no fast travel and rain and wind blowing enemies lurking around every corner... I still remember how hostile this game was.. and it was amazing..
I cant believe you didnt get the story of the game. You are told since the beginning that the Jackal is an arms dealer that is selling weapons to both factions in an African conflict, so the main character is sent by whatever organism to kill him so the lack of weapons ends the conflict. Since he cant be found, the main character works as mercenary to both factions hoping to gain intelligence on the whereabouts of the Jackal. During those missions you see the moral destruction of the main character, because he is forced to do fucked up things to achieve the ultimate goal that will end the conflict. So by the end of the game you have seen the ambiguity and hypocrisy of war, and also of your own, making you wonder whether you really are the good guy. Gives you the feeling that no one involved in war is really the good guy, and its the effect the game is trying to give you, because at the end even the Jackal feels ambiguous and not necessarily good or bad, just one more person creating pain in order to save others.
This game will always have a special place in my heart. I played it when it first came out and I loved it and I replayed it about 3-4 years ago and still liked it. I also played on pc but didn't really experience that many bugs tbh. Should you play this game? Absolutely yes! Just keep in mind that if you're more into "running and gunning" style of gaming, you might be in trouble if you can't make yourself slow down a little bit. It's less arcade like in combat like it's successors.
This is my favorite farcry game. It really hit different for me because I have extremely bad chronic pain and I have to take pain killers all the time. Especially when it flares up really bad. So it was kinda like in the game lol. And im former SOCOM, ive been to Africa.
In this game there is a bug on PC where if your framerate is too high it bugs out a lot of npcs, you need to turn on vsync and set your max fps to 60 otherwise the game just completely breaks, thats probably where your problem with the NPC's came from.
Far cry 2 with the damage overhaul or the realism mod is just something else. I always got annoyed when a shirtless guy could take 6 shots to the chest and still walk like eveything is alright. Still play this game with these mods and it's soo gooood
I loved FC2 when it was new, I remember it as one of my absolute favourites. But I'm not sure I would have the same patience with some of it's more unforgiving mechanics today. Modern games have spoiled me.
@@SgtYngve in other words, you prefer not having to think while playing games. User friendly is just a euphemism for dumbing down. Call of duty has always been user friendly due to its simplicity, yet people will look back on games like system shock 2 or morrowind and say they've aged poorly when in reality they're games that are just built on more complex systems. Nearly every game franchise has been dumbed down over the years.
@@modernmobster Hey, what's up with the hostility? If you like how games used to be, that's totally fine, lots of gems out there to play. I, however, think the wast majority perfer today's more streamlined experience of over more niche and complex systems. Hope you have a nice day.
Loved getting around on the waterways by swamp boat. Don't remember there being any dangerous animals in it? Could've dome with a few crocs. Played through it a couple of times on pc in 2008.
tbh, it's not that stealth is non-existent in this game, it's just far more realistic. Silenced guns aren't truly inaudible, approaching a environmental-aware person isn't all that easy, etc. This game depicts the realism in each of these factors. The gun jams are just out of pocket tho.
Played this as a 14 year old took me 2 months to beat it on normal loved every second of it way ahead of its time never had many bugs on the 360 must be the pc port
For all of its shortcomings when compared to more modern games, I think the gritty, realistic atmosphere of it and the general immersiveness it gave you was fantastic. Some highlights for me were starting fires that spread with a simple flare, the map being integrated into the actual gameplay, having to jump out and fix your car in a tense situation, just to name a few. Even with it's issues, I enjoyed it a lot more than it's successors which seemed to not be grounded in reality.
I recently replayed the game and used stealth for almost the entire game with the silenced sniper, silenced pistol and silenced machine gun. You just need to always get head shots and it works super well (I was playing the hardest difficulty, which is the only way to play it). Also make sure to do the assassination missions + explore the map to find diamonds so you can buy the camo suit fast.
But you feel like James Bond with the silenced pistol and using real stealth. Also I did a lot of missions at night (which I found easier to make work, but not sure if it changed AI's sight tbh).
The only gripe I have with the review is the story segment. The story makes more sense then you let on. You, the protagonist, are a mercenary. You are only driven by money, and the moment you fail to kill the Jackal upon entering the country, the money that was promised to you by the western government that sent you is now void. That is why you are no longer compelled to kill the Jackal afterwards, in his words, "you're fired", and that's why most of the storyline involves you just driving around and killing people in missions, these people are either willing to pay you or have something you need, like new weapons or malaria pills. And that's what makes the Jackal even more compelling at the end, where he convinces the protagonist to give up their money driven ways and even their own life to help this war torn country.
I still play this game from time to time , been playing on the hardest difficulty , so yeah , i sometimes take break from it for up to a year vowing never to return , then thanks to cloud saving , i pop in , load my save and it has me hooked for a few hours , i find it best to AVOID fighting and use the boats and the river system to travel , Apocalypse Now style , it really helps you reach your destination a lot quicker , using hideouts to save mid travel and preserve ammo , and aside from a few bullets as you zip past , it's a lot more relaxing traveling like that , as the roads are just savage , it's so much more ruthless than the later more commercial and accessible and linear games in the series , playing it again today for a few hours actually lead me to finding your fantastic review , always good to find a fresh review and not one that is a decade old. So yeah , still on the second map , maybe one day i'll finish it , but wow what a visceral experience , loved your review.
This is what got me into farcry, I didn't know much because I was only 11 when it came out but I went back to it years later and loved it and bought every farcry game since
Forgive me if someone has already pointed this out, but there are some differences between player characters, the arms/hands are different of course and I believe the height listed on their profile actually changes the height of your in-game perspective. Great video!
I see why the video took 5 days to make, it's hilarious. Your videos get better every single upload, so keep it up! I really like the comedy within the reviews.
I am glad you decided to talk about far cry 2 While it's not my favorite game in the series I thought it was actually pretty fun haven't played it in a while but it was fun last time I played it .so any who let me just addressed the question in the video 👉👉👉👉👉 "What is going Inside the Head of the main character in farcry 2 " go read the in game notes this the biggest complaint I see people give about the story Why does your character help the two opposing factions ?? Well go read the journals of the main character or read the text in the loading screen its explained there I understand why people are confused about this I was too until I read the in game notes
I was going to comment this as well. The backstory is WHY you're there, and the journals are WHY you're doing what you're doing. The rest you fill in by roleplaying, which is the point of a voiceless character.. Also I didn't have any bugs on PC.
Yooo what’s up man, would it be possible for you to do a vid on Fallout NV? It’s honestly one of Bethesda’s best games lol (though it needs some mods to make it run properly). Great vid btw, have a nice day!
@@suhasop4919 so the easiest way is if u have an nvidia graphics card u can go to settings and cap the fps or the otjer way is to download an app called bandicam i think and theres an option there
I have to say, about 12-ish years ago i got stuck in a death loop. A random car explosion propelled a car on my head and kill me. I reload/replay this scene so many time trying to dodge it but the timing was too short to get out of the way :( still one of my favorite game
I absolutely loved this game until I reached the 58% mark, the game got a bug with an npc and corrupted the save. Haven’t had any urge to go back to it since but I wish there was a remaster or remake. Another great review keep it up!
I think the stealth is realistic a silenced weapon is still loud af and whilst it has no muzzle flash due to suppressor you can still locate due to the noise
yeah while being genuinely annoying at times it does make sense i mean chopping someones leg with a machette isnt exactly quiet , and apparently according to some 9 year old clip about stealth in far cry 2 the ai at night is more cautious but ofc it cant see you while during the day they are more or less oblivious but have the chance to spot you from a large distance
I play on console and it isn’t buggy like that. I have heard if the frame rate goes above 60 on PC, the game starts to get buggy so maybe limiting the frame rate would help fix them
Yeah naw, the years haven't been kind on Far Cry 2, and a lot of your criticisms are valid. A few objections I have however: - The world is super hostile, yes, but as someone who loved how action-packed 2 was, 3/4/5/6 all feel incredibly sterile by comparison -- not nearly enough violence or difficulty. FC2 isn't the most brutal game ever, but for its cult following, it's the goldilocks zone. - Stealth is more viable than you make it to be here, though it isn't very fleshed out. The fact you can't move/hide bodies is the biggest thing holding it back. Enemies even have a slightly better detection system than future games too, since they enter their 'suspicious' state by glimpsing you, instead of a simple gauge separating hidden/detected with no behavioral differences inbetween. -Most of those bugs you highlight are due to modern hardware, framerate, and even DX10. You'll have to take my word on it, but the game wasn't like that on launch. Also, not really a disagreement, but just to clear something up, your character doesn't want to kill the Jackal. The Jackal himself says "You could tell them you tried, but that mean's fuck-all, doesn't it? You're fired. You know it and so do I. Men like you only work for money, so now you gotta find a new job." And from that moment on the journal never states interest in wanting to kill the Jackal again, only to continue working for money and malaria pills. It's a story beat delivered so poorly that NOBODY picks up on it. Even I didn't notice for years. That's how bad it is.
"The gunplay is really satisfying in this game the weapon sounds , the recoil" The M1911 in this game : *Hits like a fucking RPG , sounds like a fucking RPG*
One of the things I keenly remember about my time playing FC2 was my seamless and gradual transformation from desperate and scrabbling, where I would creep and snipe, to a MGL and LMG toting monster where I would scout a location and assault it like a natural disaster. I had read "heart of darkness" recently too and you could tell Ubisoft had taken the feel of it to heart. The game was just....brutal. In gameplay, difficulty, and tone. The first time you have to put down a buddy.....ouch. On reflection I don't think I have the time nor the emotional energy to play FC2 like I did when it was released, I mean I'm not sure it was "fun" as it was satisfying, if that males sense. There were no short cuts, just learning the systems, careful planning and patient stocking of your hideout weapon boxes so you would limit the need to scavenge weapons. Anyway, Far Cry 2. Not for everyone, but if you WANT to punish yourself? It hurts so good!
played this through several times on pc - I disagree that the bus travel is almost useless - I used it constantly. Yes you have certain missions that it's not helpful to use, but most often it'll get you much closer to your objective and without the time-consuming labor of dealing with additional outposts or occupied zones. It's especially useful for assassination and gun shop missions, often putting you very close to the target. I had issues with bugs caused by running on windows 10 but I downloaded a mod by Macrovision with enhanced color that also made the game completely bug free.
This game had the most wholesome and deepest story overall when you thought about it, especially what it tells you when you finish the game and I was actually disappointed with 3 slightly because it didn't have that. I'd rec checking out The Lord of War with Nicholas Cage if you want a film that is pretty similar to this story.
@@kingsley3208 that's what I thing of how large the overall story was, it was more focused on Africa and the politics within than the main character or even the antagonist. It was dynamic and humble like The Lord of War or American Gangster
I honestly can't think about Lord of War without thinking about Far Cry 2.... Altho if you want an insanely good movie about these terms in Africa, definitely go watch the movie Blood Diamond (literally the currency of the game). The movie itself feels really similar to this game (Almost like playing NFS Underground 2 and watching 2 Fast 2 Furious, the similarities are strong), and Leonardo Di Caprio plays in the movie so what more could you ask for? I highly recommend anyone reading this comment go watch Blood Diamond, it tells a strong story about these diamonds in Africa and how the rest of the world uses them and more importantly it tells a story about the people of Africa and how brave they were at these times.

I'd say perhaps a remake, fixing the Stealth, adding wild life, adding a voiced protagonist, and perhaps including a gun cleaning kit similar to rdr2.
@@abc4781 and also nerfing the broken enemies
@@abc4781farcry 1 and 2 needs a remake.
4. The wild animals (only herbivores) feel like more like decoration than actual wildlife
In the end you only gotta go to your armory every once in a while and the pills are generous enough that you can just do the side mission once in a while.
ikr. when i saved the game i realized that because of the saves the game took 10gb of my space
I had no idea saving games actually took "space". I just save over the same saved game over and over. 1 saved game.
I just clocked it on pc....dont click create new save everytime, i only had 1 save

Or its just Mandela effect.
@@drunkenpumpkins7401 nope. It's on console too. Always has been.

FC2's map editor alone is more fun than playing any of the newer FC games.
The headbobbing glitch and some of the other bugs are easily solved by setting max fps to 60 in the games launch setting on steam.
2008 was a golden year for gamers! I remember after completing final year in college I went on a gaming marathon!
The mod that makes faction checkpoints and the like is great. It really adds a different dynamic when doing missions etc
Masterpiece of trash. FC1 was fun and not boring like FC2. Too much doing nothing driving around not much action vs FC1. AI is not good neither is the mouse keyboard feel.

Most people don't consider that this game came out at a time when high-end PCs weren't yet a mainstream thing.
does it work on 4K ok? Many games from around that time make all the text so small for me it's almost unplayable.
Honestly, I've never really encountered any bugs in the game, so seeing what you were saying/showing really surprised me...
These glitches are more often when you're fps is above 60
Could be compatibility with windows 10.
I think the stealth is easier if you hide in the thickets
I was the stealth master in farcry 2 back in the day. You gotta buy the camouflage outfit, go at night, and use a suppressor.
The gunplay in this game is so good, loud powerful guns and running for cover to heal/reload felt awesome
Finally ive been waiting for this review forever
I agree i think people should watch the aesthetics of farcry 2 th-cam.com/video/mx4eSkMBx-U/w-d-xo.html
@@Yankkee_ Oh yeah, I love those videos.
Farcry 2 is a masterpiece
Gives you the feeling that no one involved in war is really the good guy, and its the effect the game is trying to give you, because at the end even the Jackal feels ambiguous and not necessarily good or bad, just one more person creating pain in order to save others.
best Far cry ever. I hope they will make a remake of it!!

I hate the "It's the only way to play X " mindset. Good for you. For the rest of us gamers who value fun, we'll play as we see fit

Fun fact The Jackal is Jack Carver from the original far cry. One of the writers confirmed it.
This here is probably my favorite far cry
The other ones are good to but this one is just different from the others.
This game is what made me love being stealthy. The dart gun was the best gun in the game
I see why the video took 5 days to make, it's hilarious. Your videos get better every single upload, so keep it up! I really like the comedy within the reviews.
I am glad you decided to talk about far cry 2
While it's not my favorite game in the series I thought it was actually pretty fun haven't played it in a while but it was fun last time I played it .so any who let me just addressed the question in the video 👉👉👉👉👉
"What is going Inside the Head of the main character in farcry 2 " go read the in game notes this the biggest complaint I see people give about the story
Why does your character help the two opposing factions ??
Well go read the journals of the main character or read the text in the loading screen its explained there I understand why people are confused about this I was too until I read the in game notes
I was going to comment this as well.
The backstory is WHY you're there, and the journals are WHY you're doing what you're doing.
The rest you fill in by roleplaying, which is the point of a voiceless character..
Also I didn't have any bugs on PC.
Travelling by speedboat is an underrated way to reach mission objectives.
10:25 what I heard its that those bugs happens because you're playing in 60fps and the game doesn't support this framerate
Actually, it’s over 60FPS that causes it. F Frame locking via V-sync does the job.
@@dhwwiiexpert yes, over 60fps
Yooo what’s up man, would it be possible for you to do a vid on Fallout NV? It’s honestly one of Bethesda’s best games lol (though it needs some mods to make it run properly). Great vid btw, have a nice day!
He liked your comment, so does that mean he's gonna do it!?
'One of >>Bethesda's
Ur buggy issues is from high fps so just cap the fps to 60
How to do it?
@@suhasop4919 so the easiest way is if u have an nvidia graphics card u can go to settings and cap the fps or the otjer way is to download an app called bandicam i think and theres an option there
I bought the game on my Xbox a few weeks ago and it's my first time playing FC2 and it's pretty fun!
I have to say, about 12-ish years ago i got stuck in a death loop. A random car explosion propelled a car on my head and kill me. I reload/replay this scene so many time trying to dodge it but the timing was too short to get out of the way :(
still one of my favorite game
On Console, you can only save on designated spots
Thats a really nice intro!
The bugs you mentioned are specifically with the PC port. Enabling V-Sync fixed most of them for me .
I love the ambient in this game the river, the jungle, the desert. No SUV made it even more the feeling to be there
I play on console and it isn’t buggy like that. I have heard if the frame rate goes above 60 on PC, the game starts to get buggy so maybe limiting the frame rate would help fix them
Yeah naw, the years haven't been kind on Far Cry 2, and a lot of your criticisms are valid. A few objections I have however:
- The world is super hostile, yes, but as someone who loved how action-packed 2 was, 3/4/5/6 all feel incredibly sterile by comparison -- not nearly enough violence or difficulty.
This game made 11 year old me a veteran. After playing it through twice in a row I now have *blank stare*
You should do blood dragon next and also love the content dude
Already did Blood Dragon a few weeks ago but thanks man I appreciate it
"The gunplay is really satisfying in this game the weapon sounds , the recoil"
The M1911 in this game : *Hits like a fucking RPG , sounds like a fucking RPG*
Nah it hits like an rpg but I know what you mean about the sound of it
One of the things I keenly remember about my time playing FC2 was my seamless and gradual transformation from desperate and scrabbling, where I would creep and snipe, to a MGL and LMG toting monster where I would scout a location and assault it like a natural disaster.
I played this game in 2008 while I was in Iraq, thinking about picking it up again.
This brings back so many memories I loved far cry 2 back in the day. Just a side note anyone that got the platinum trophy on ps3 you have my respect.
played this through several times on pc - I disagree that the bus travel is almost useless - I used it constantly.
It is just on PC, I have it on the 360 and the bugs are non existent
Just heart this Man, nice content as always
Who
I actually beat this for the first time a couple weeks ago
This game had the most wholesome and deepest story overall when you thought about it, especially what it tells you when you finish the game and I was actually disappointed with 3 slightly because it didn't have that. I'd rec checking out The Lord of War with Nicholas Cage if you want a film that is pretty similar to this story.
"Wholesome" is such a strange adjective to choose to use here
@@kingsley3208 that's what I thing of how large the overall story was, it was more focused on Africa and the politics within than the main character or even the antagonist.
@@royliber3824 I almost forgot about that film, it has a great soundtrack to thanks for reminding me!
I'm glad to be around since 11k subscribers
i remember this being this last game i bought for pc in the box and it was damn good game too
Been playing this game since it came out, still play it to this day.
Intro looks great
