I always used the fire to cover my exit in this game. I'd always find the grassiest exit, complete the mission and then torch everything behind me. Worked like a charm. Far cry 6's fire is so much better than all the others. But this game was lit.
Amazing game! When I first played this I was scared of all the sounds and ambushes wich actually made it even more exiting! My memories of this game are just plain perfect.
This game was amazing in almost every way, my one big complaint was how fast enemies would respawn in cleared areas, really killed the immersion, wish they tweaked the spawning scheme

@@AMT_AllMyThoughts Artistically speaking Far Cry 2 is leagues above Generic Cry 5 textures and overall graphics look more muddy due to the time it was released in but it’s tone and atmospheric design which speaks for itself is vastly superior and much more identifiable plus I can’t forget the immersion that is almost non existent in other Far Cry games in comparison though admittedly that’s more of a gameplay thing.

A lot of people hated Far Cry 2, and I agree it has it's problems. Having to do a LOT of extra travelling and so on... But I still kind of adore it. I still think the gunplay and that sort of stuff is the best the series has ever seen, and I've played most of them.
Best Far Cry no doubt, you’re not there to save some land or free any people from a dictator. You’re a merc out for himself taking the side of whoever pays in diamonds. I love the buddy system, healing animations, map, gunplay, destructibility, and FIRE. Most immersive out of all of them. Weapons are well balanced I was always switching loadouts depending on what I was doing. Buddy’s feel a part of the world as they offer alternatives to missions with their own motives. Hand held map just makes sense sucks it hasn’t had a comeback.
This was the first game I ever played where I felt that I was living in a functioning world. Nothing beat the feeling of infiltrating an enemy camp by moving carefully over much terrain ❤️ Always knew this game was underrated, so glad to see it get the recognition it deserves.
Far Cry 2 is my favorite game in the series and I love its commitment to its vision. Definitely polarizing because of it but god there's nothing quite like listening to a Jackal tape while unjamming your gun and lighting up mercs.
I remember when this came out and I couldn't wait to play it on my new, modern-day-potato, "gaming laptop". I insisted on running most settings on very high to justify my shiny new toy. Even though I was pushing like 20-40fps max, I still loved this game (and wasn't used to much better anyway in terms of performance). I thought the graphics were AMAZING at the time. It was the first open world style FPS I'd ever played. Loved the freedom to just drive around and cause havoc.
same, I had a shit desktop pc, played it a 20fps because I was a kid and thought "films are at 24 fps so it's good enough", marveling at the slideshow of good looking graphics, sniping with a dart gun and a stealth suit iirc, being annoyed at the obligatory car shoot out every 500 meters and of course watch the world burn, literally. Ive tried Far Cry 2, 3, and 5 and Far Cry 2 is the only one that got me hooked until the end. It was hard, annoying, grim, shocking, realistic, nihilistic, one of the best game ive ever played.

Everyone busts a nut over the 3rd one. Sure it was a blast to play, but it didn't make sense to me. Your character is just a normal guy who was on vacation and got kidnapped. Then with the snap of a finger you're suddenly a one man army, Rambo, Terminator type of badass. Like, what? In the 2nd one, your character actually has a bit of a background, but you're still out gunned, out matched, way out of your element and the game never lets you forget it. Man, I miss playing this game. Such a fun and brutal challenge
I've been playing all of the far cry games recently and I still find 3rd to be one of the better ones. I don't think you change with the snap of the finger, you progress, get better gear, better weapons, perks and the bloodlust develops slowly too. But I get what you mean about far cry 2, I thought it was cool that I played a guy who was an agent in the IDF. Far Cry 6 is the worst with this, you are some immigrant from Miami and instantly get everything, all perks, the top 3 weapons, good vehicle, probably the strongest companion, in the first mission, there is no progression.

I played this for the first time earlier this year. I only got up to the second map. Once I realised I'd unlocked an entire second map full of respawning checkpoints I was well over it... Pretty fun up until that point I suppose.
There's only a few criticisms I had for this game. 1. No animal interactions 2. The enemies talked too fast it sounded kinda funny hearing two people talk one right after each other.

Far Cry 2 didn't have revolutionary graphics, a fascinating storyline or incredible gameplay and features. It was The dev's attention to detail was what I think made it so good, somewhat immersive and ahead of its time. From that revving Jeep Engine, the whooshing wind when cruising on the quad-bike, or the animation and momentum when swimming in the river, etc. They didn't have to do those thing, but that effort has transformed the game into a timeless classic.
I connected a hose from my water emitting weener directly into my stomach, enhancing my circulating hydration to unseen levels, never leaving a drop behind. I am only losing liquid out of the big brown hole since that enhancement but it's okay, it allows for a gentle slide wich is also important. I wonder what colour pelican poop would be, i hope it's bright pink with gold spots

Been playing Far Cry 6 a bit and I couldn't stop thinking about how much better that game would be if it still had the same features as 2: handheld map, fast travel only by buses, having to visit armory to change the loadout and such. Also it had so much more atmosphere...
Did you know that in this game ,if you are injured with no morphine, you can drink a bottle of water and you gain 2 health bars. 10/10 would try to find water in Africa again. (When our electricity in South Africa is not off.)
The graphics haven't aged well, but I remember it seeming quite spectacular to set fires at night in this game. Some enemy camps were in grassy areas, and you could just set fire to the grass nearby and watch the entire area become an inferno.
For all this game's faults, it felt way more immersive than FC 3 and 4. Probably because there was no level-up system; tagging was bare-bones; weapon degradation necessitated extra awareness of your own gear; dynamic wildfires made for a viable tactic; and the constantly respawning enemies forced me to trek almost entirely on foot which, although tedious, emphasized a sort of survival mode that actually inspired legit dread because there was no telling if I was actually safe even after clearing out locations. Not everyone likes these elements but I do and it's why I keep coming back to this game.

My only complaint with the game is that it requires 2 melee attacks to kill which fucks up stealth
The graphics haven't aged well, but I remember it seeming quite spectacular to set fires at night in this game. Some enemy camps were in grassy areas, and you could just set fire to the grass nearby and watch the entire area become an inferno.
This game shocked me the first time I saw it as a kid. First person open world with vehicles, what!?!?!!?
That damn malaria was so annoying but it still was an amazing game. it’s what got me into the series.

Also pro tip! Find a golden AK! They don't mis-fire or break, great for those days were hydration stops are few and far apart!
For all this game's faults, it felt way more immersive than FC 3 and 4. Probably because there was no level-up system; tagging was bare-bones; weapon degradation necessitated extra awareness of your own gear; dynamic wildfires made for a viable tactic; and the constantly respawning enemies forced me to trek almost entirely on foot which, although tedious, emphasized a sort of survival mode that actually inspired legit dread because there was no telling if I was actually safe even after clearing out locations. Not everyone likes these elements but I do and it's why I keep coming back to this game.
