  • Andy was born and raised in Northern California. From the age of 11 he knew that he wanted to become a Navy SEAL, and it became the single driving force in his life. He enlisted in the Navy while still a Junior in high school, entering military service in 1996. After completing boot camp he began the most grueling training program in the US Military - Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL, known as BUD/s. Nearly 90% of all candidates are unsuccessful completing the six month program. Andy graduated and began his SEAL career attached to SEAL Team Five, in Coronado California. In 2002 he screened for and joined the most elite counterterrorism unit in the military, SEAL Team Six. This unit is tasked with conducting the nation's most critical missions, many of which have become the focus of Hollywood movies and books. While on a combat deployment an Iraqi insurgent shot Andy at close range with an AK-47. Doctors told him it would be years, if ever, before he recovered the use of his leg and returned to full active duty. In 2006, Andy returned to the Naval Special Warfare Center as the Leading Petty Officer for 2nd Phase BUD/s training. While completing his two year instructor tour, in charge of 13 senior SEAL instructors and 600 students, Andy submitted his package to become a commissioned officer. In 2008, he became the first E-6 selection commissioned through the Limited Duty Officer Program in the history of Naval Special Warfare. Upon commissioning, he joined SEAL Team Three and completed his final combat tour to Afghanistan. Throughout his 17-year career, Andy executed hundreds of combat operations throughout the world in support of the Global War on Terror. He was medically retired in June of 2013. His awards and decorations include 5 Bronze Star Medals (Four with Valor), the Purple Heart, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, The Navy and Marine Corp Commendation Medal with Valor, Three Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medals, Two Combat Action Ribbons, and the presidential Unit Citation.

I've always respected Andy's no-BS straight-shooter approach. Unlike most SEALs, he doesn't hype the SEAL community, but rather lays down the good with the bad without pulling punches.

@1:00:44 wholly unacceptable to have zero physically therapy in 2005 after the decades of Vietnam vets suffering unnecessarily from the same crap. They damn well knew this well before 2005. That’s exactly the shit that really pisses me off. My dad and a significant amount of his friends all lived lives filled with chronic pain because the government wanted to be cheap. I guarantee you this man’s pain would be 90% less today if he’d had adequate physical therapy for a year following his injury. What’s really stupid is the government paying for that year of therapy is FAR less expensive than the maintenance costs for the chronic injury problems caused by not receiving the therapy. The George W Bush admin was a ship of fools.

On the peer reviews, how are the instructors able to determine which ones are students trashing someone because of personality conflicts or jealousy or lie on another student for whatever reason and which ones have merit? Almost everyone has seen times where a whole group of people will get together and really just trash someone, especially when it’s anonymous, just because they were always excelling at everything.

But coming out of bootcamp an E-3 pay grade does matter. But no one could ever explain my "WHY" for enlisting in the Navy and taking that path. Andy is about a year before me. • @vitigaymer1053

Brandon Webb, Jack's former boss at SOFREP.
Webb is a tier 1 snake, pro bridge burner and former West Coast Team guy(SEAL Team 3). Almost everyone of his SEAL buddies who he was once close with - have either publicly or quietly distanced themselves from him.
Mike Ritland and Chris Osman(both went through BUDS with Webb and were frequent guests on SOFREP) - now don't seem to associate with him.
The fact that two buddies who went through BUDS, STT with him and even served in the same SEAL platoon - now can't stand him - shows what a POS the man has become!
