He was in the middle of his tour at Team 6 in 97. Probably a different Rick Kaiser. Unless they're going to pull a guy out at the height of his career to deal with boot camp and A school kids.

Great interview with a former Navy Seal warrior, Patriot and badass legend Rick Kaiser, a 27 year Operator in Seal Team Six aka DEVGRU right beside Dick Marcinko the Rogue Warrior. The best of the best Shadow Warriors that America has produced.

Such a strange coincidence, my best friend and I were just talking about a mutual acquaintance of ours a couple of hours before this show streamed that was a team 6 operator for 19 years and how we would love to see him do a podcast sometime and hear some of his stories. His service would have coincided with Mr. Kaiser's so I am sure they know each other.

I remember that story of what happened in Italy in Chuck Pfarrers book "Warrior Soul"-Sounds like Chuck was Ricks assault element commander. Same thing was said about how tense it was but was not worried about his own guys but more of a conscript meatball freaking out over a backfire and starting a firefight. Best part was Chuck said he walked up and down the line of his guys telling everyone be cool then walked out between the 2 forces and pulled his armor up and took a piss on the ramp as his small act of defiance and even the italians snickered at the gesture

When I was a Radioman on one of the grey ghettos with a flat bottom because it was in the Amphibs class of ships. they used to call hull techs turd chasers because they always had to fix the plumbing issues. Like this dude I cross rated out of the fleet but not to combat diving, just to the regular dive rating. If you're thinking about the Navy as an option, you might want to think about how you will be living in one of those ships. On the USS Proteus I was an E-5 TAD with 5 other dive team members living in a converted janitorial closet. They literally cleaned it out and bolted in 3 racks on each side.

@ObamaFromKenya I know that which means 3/4 of SEAL candidates get escorted out of the BUD/S training grounds. They go to a half-way house on the main base where they wait for orders. Those orders send the quitter out to the fleet as a NON-RATE which means deck division or A school . They might be able to get into Dive school or EOD but they still have an enlistment contract.

And I grew up in St. Francis which borders half of his neighborhood. My house to his would've been just a 10min drive tops. I was sixteen in 85 when the Achille Lauro operation went down. I remember reading that SEAL TEAM 6 Officers were heard on SEAL radios discussing opening fire on the Italian police who had surrounded them. TEAM 6 wanted that terrorist bad. So did the Italians. The Italians won diplomatically and that Achille Lauro terrorist got handed to the Italians and they let him go to Iraq where he was protected by Saddam Hussein's secret police. That terrorist was targeted by JSOC at the very beginning of the invasion of Iraq in 2003.

I am an old guy now and not an ex SEAL. However, I am an experienced lifeguard from my younger days. Including a former beach lifeguard. Id like to comment about the last topic discussed, lifesaving. I dont know what the lifesaving methods they teach at BUD/S, but I am assuming they still teach old school lifesaving techniques AKA non equipment water rescues...no rescue tube to make rescue easier and safer. Most lifeguard training in the civilian world teaches only equipment based rescues because of liability reasons. When I took my first American Red Cross lifeguard class at a YMCA in 1988, the ARC lifesaving manual still taught non equipment rescues. The ARC stopped teaching non equipment based lifesaving in the early nineties and went to rescue tube lifesaving. The current gold standard for lifesaving methods is the USLA or United States Lifesaving Association. The USLA continued teaching non equipment based rescues.. as well as equipment based water rescues well past the period where the Red Cross and the YMCA stopped teaching non equipment based rescues. The USLA certification is THE gold standard for lifesaving techniques. Another good place to get lifeguard training is Boy Scouts. They have a very very difficult lifesaving certification called "BSA Lifeguard." Im not sure if USLA lifesaving still teaches non equipment lifesaving. If you want to learn non equipment lifesaving (the hard stuff) get an old copy of the American Red Cross lifesaving manual from the eighties. Or an older USLA lifesaving manual. You can find them on eBay.
