It's one of those bikes that is iconic, especially in that colour scheme, very cool.

Cool and unique build. The blue and yellow mural at the end is such a sick background for beauty shots.

Was torn if I should use it or not for the thumbnail but a bit a AB testing and personal preference made me change it back

Nice! Love people saving these old V's. I just resto modded my 96 super V3000, the flat black and yellow one. I did go with the Sram GX 32 tooth cranks. I went with the Sram PG-1230 12 speed cassette that is HG mount, with the Sram GX 12 speed derailleur. I had to do some fab work to make a bracket on mine for the rear Disc brake mount, ended up with some Sram Code R's front and rear. The rear shock on mine was worn out and ended up doing the 6.5" inch rockshox monarch RL doing some modding to fit it. I also ended up making my own wheelset for it with Shimano XT hubs and Spank Spike rims, wrapped in WTB Velociraptors. I have rebuilt my Headshok a couple of times now over the years, its a Fatty Ultra with 80mm but future plans to Lefty it. Great build ya got there.

Cool bike. It was funny when this style of bike was popular. Department store cheap bike made ones that pivot point in the rear made the seat post bounce into the shock. You could tell a good bike by basic suspension logic like this one.

Great build! A modern 190x51 rear shock on these absolutely transforms them. You already have the Jeckyll swingarm needed to fit one, so you'd only have to modify the shock tab on the frame and then you would have 150mm of sweet travel. Couple that with an angleset and a modern 150mm fork and you get a seriously capable trail bike.
However, it's cool just how you have it. Enjoy!

Ahh that’s good info! Gosh the BB must get really tall with the extra rear travel?

@MozOnBikes The trick is in re-drilling the shock mount further inboard on the shock tabs. That way, when combined with the Jekyll swingarm, you retain the original geometry. For further reading, the conversion is commonly referred to as the 'uber V'. There's a huge thread on the subject on MTBR.... Come over to the dark side ;)

Awesome video! Just got a super v 400. Do you have links for parts list? Thinking about switching to a 1x. Do you know if there are front fork adapters to convert to disc brake?
