I know I'm late to the party, but it's worth mentioning. You have the best tutorials for beginners. I just bought this game and needed the basics on how to control the troops and the like. Your playlist is very helpful. Thanks.

I completely forgot to use this feature assigning numbers to my units. I'll try to incorporate this to my gameplay. Thanks a lot for this tutorial.

It's interesting what people's preferences are with regard to control groups. Personally, I use 1&2 for Infantry, 3 for Tanks, 4 for Engineers, 5 for AT guns, 6 for mortars, and 7 for HMGs. This means I never get confused about what I have bound between factions, games, or even early/mid/late-game.

Funny enough that i watch several CoH2 streams they don't seem to use Ctrl Group keys that much, aside from just 1 and 2, but again on a 1v1 stream i think there isn't much need . I use a LOT of Ctrl Key when playing on 2v2 or 4v4 scale.
    1. Engineers Group
    2.
    3. 2 and 3 always keyed on infantry assault type group.
    4. If i play Werh/USF with MG i'll assign them to 4 or sometimes 5 to provide mobility control
5 / 6 / 7 is where i key in Vehicles to Tanks depends on what stuff i bring in.
I don't hotkey Mortars or AT unless needed them to move around.

No control groups are very important at every game mode. Quite a few streamers are so good they can be top 10 without much use of them, doesn't mean they couldn't be better by adding them into their game. Check out momo4sho, he uses control groups probably one step above what I do. I would suggest binding anti tank guns to a control group 100%. I have won many games by being able to call in support from a nearby AT gun during a tank fight.

Hey tightrope! Long time watcher and admirer of your stuff here. A suggestion for a video is tips on microing several tanks, without having them derping around each other (if this is possible of course). I for one am having some issues with controlling several tanks at once. As always though, nice video!

Unfortunately I don't have many suggestions when it comes to pathfinding other than some times giving one command and letting it work itself out is better than mashing right click, though some times it is worse. I'm not sure that would translate into a video.

For me the better way to micro your tank is to just assign 1 tank into 1 key. If you assign 2 or more there would bound to have path finding issue unless you field more than 7 tanks then ... good luck with that i guess?

You missed one of the most important tips ever. Using ctrl clicking to quickly select all of one unit type. Using control groups is more likely to mess you up if you can't set them up in a timely fashion.

Hey man you can do that by double clicking on a unit you don't need to use the ctrl button.

@@tightropegaming It's not very accurate sometimes, at least to me. I'll try it again.
