I grew up in the backwoods of South Carolina and this is how we would race cars on the back roads. Horsepower or the engine size did not matter....if you lined up, you raced!!!!

That comes down to traction, I've seen RWD cars destroy AWD cars off the line too, it just comes down to how much power you can put down without losing traction. and even stock cars based on the engine placement will eat some awd cars for breakfast for example the corvette c8 does 2.8 0-60 stock and it's rwd. at the same time there are plenty of supras and BMWs that do great 0-60 off the line with a great set of tires/drag radials. But if everything is equal and one car has AWD and the other is RWD, the AWD will launch better but the rwd will have the advantage on the rolls due to less drvetrain loss and likely lighter vehicle since it doesn't have a center/front diff etc.
@@SSH939 On a prepped surface, they will be great! Even on an unprepped surface they can be phenomenal based on the tires and launch tuning. AWD is not always better than RWD.

The AWD weighs of the same 2020 was around 3920 - 3930 lbs depending on specs. AWD does not add that much weight. I have an IS350 F-Sport with AWD and the RWD is less than 100 lbs lighter. The G-series both AWD and RWD are heavier, but the difference is the same.
If I didn't live so far, I'd bring my 21 M340i rwd, but I have a hot tune on it. I guess I could put it back to stock tune and lower the duty cycle so it's happy with the downpipes. If I'm ever out that way, I'll definitely give you a shout. Great video!

that 392 did very well guys come on now, its way heavier then both bmws there, and its n/a not forced induction. it hung with sams m3 and that has a bimmer tune and lighter from a dig, on a roll it was neck and neck with the m340i.. all 3 are great just stating truth lol

I see it the other way friend , while it’s true it’s heavier than the m340 (300 lbs) it’s still got 100 more HP and 2 extra cilinders than the Germans so I feel it should’ve been even closer than that
In 2 tests with car and driver the RWD m340i did 12.4@114 and 12.3@115, and then with the awd model did 12.2@112. These times take into account the 1ft rollout as if they were at the strip. Which if you’re wanting the dragy number just add .3 to each time. All mid 12s. Supra is slightly quicker with a higher trap in their testing of the 2021 plus autos. However, in both the supra and m340i people have spoken of 1/4 mile dragy times in bone stock cars ranging from 10s to 12s. No idea what’s true or not. Just gotta line em up 🤷🏻♂️ 🏁

I raced a hellcat in a 2020 rwd M340 with jb+ 4.5psi over stock. It was roll from around 60mph. The hellcat could not pull me till about 120mph, before that dead even
CallingBS on that tune. Increases power, fuel efficiency, and longevity? To increase two of those things would definitely severely reduce the third. Performance upgrades are about making compromises that the average driver wouldn’t want. Otherwise that tune would’ve happened from the factory, as it doesn’t cost anything for the manufacturer to tune their own engines.
It still ain’t an M though, And tune an m3 then see what happens. Not everything is straight line speed from a dig. M cars are in their own league compared to m lite, refined in every way and the driving experience reflects it

The 392 charger always loses against anything with 400+ horsepower. Even a stock RS3 can easily beat the 392. The only car the 392 can beat is the Mercedes E53 AMG because it is as heavy as the dodge charger.
“Even” a stock RS3? That little car is a complete animal and will smoke a Hellcat. That car is insanely underrated and overlooked performance wise. There’s not many cars an RS3 won’t smoke including all three cars in this video.

Ive noticed this too many 400hp cars walk the 392 mostly turbo cars though. Cars like the Lexus IS500 N/A V8 and RCF can put up a decent fight against a 392 but will most likely lose.
392s are overweight boats. My 22 M240 eats them.... there just super heavy and out of date, in the performance world now. Which is a shame because for the money pre-covid and before the car market now you could get a hold over for low $40s.

Untrue. Unless you have slicks/drags set up then it is. Majority of cars that hold records are rwd on the strip.

I have a B58 with rear wheel and the 230lbs extra on the X drive makes a huge difference
It makes a difference but either way the fact it has a rough time with the 392 shows it might be driver or tires lol.

@@layne4376 They actually have the same times. The xDrive isn't active most of the time when there is no traction loss, and it remains a RWD car.

The 340i is 100 hp less then 392 I don’t think 300 pounds should make that much difference.

Everything before the digs were swayed in the M side. Always starting the roll race a foot or a couple infront of the other cars

my 2018 m3 comp launches way better from a dig in mdm mode i’ve gotten sub 4 0-60 times in the car, completely stock with no tune like yours

This has to stop. Why do we keep racing a modified car against others that are stock. I have a gew bolt ons pushing 540 whp and no beemer beats up on me EVER. My main comp at this rate is vettes. This is biased. A roll race with these cars should be much much closer. I roll race and from a dig regularly, this is never the ending results. Smdh
