hi Brad, and trailrecon, i would just like to thank all you guys, i,m DEE from the uk, i,m 51 and yes i,m a brit, i have a jeep 2001 TJ in yellow, back to why i am thanking all you guys, i am fighting cancer at the moment, and your videos get me through, each and everyday, please keep them coming..... keep safe on the trails
Watching your show has inspired my pops and myself to do one last build he said he has in him. He just turned 78, still wrenching in the xj daily. Thanks for all you do
Man it is really a trip seeing how you are with your sons, the relationship my father and I have is completely different. I really respect you for that, thanks for all the great videos!
Jamie is coming along quite nice guys . Always cool to see a father and son doing projects together . Keep up the great work and looking forward to your next video . Take care !!
The two of you are fortunate! I hated having to do anything with my ol man! We were both Marines, but he had a nasty temper and was an alky! When things didn't go as planned, he'd go off and literally throw tools at you or backhand you when he got near! You never knew what was going to happen next! We never worked on one single project together like the two of you are! It was pure terror at our house!
So happy to see the XJ getting more love and working with your son. Thanks for your time and efforts with the channel Brad. Really enjoy your content and delivery!
Justin Rocks! Priceless Father and Son time. Love the look of the rock sliders. Great install video and can't wait to see you both out on the trial with both rigs again! Very nice gift to Justin with the floor mats!
Rock on! I recently gave my xj buddy my stock JL sliders... which he subsequently welded into his 92 xj. Great video thou! Drilling into the frame is work for sure! 🤙
Brad just found your channel today. After Ep.2 of the xj overland project I had to subscribe. I have a 16year old son and he and I have spent many hours over the years bonding by working on our 1998 xj, I watched every Ep. in that play list. Great job to all of you. I can't wait to watch more. Great channel ! I'm very pleased to hear that your son was not injured.
Ive had a my jeep cherokee xj for just over a year and so far ive completely put brand new engine parts on adding about 90ish extra hp and soon ill be upgrading the body, suspension and interior
I have my turbo diesel XJ also for a year! :-) It was lifted last week, new black steel wheels and some aggresive tires.... I really like that rig a lot!!
You've inspired me to get my 2000 XJ Classic back up and running. Can't wait to add all the upgrades too! Great series with lots of great info! Kudos to you and your sons!👍👍
I'd like to recommend a product called slick stik. It's like wax cutting substance for your drill bits. Works amazing and get some HSS bits for jobs like these. I really like the family dynamics here. Well done!
I favor a cutting fluid like Anchorlube G-771, non toxic and not oily. The weight of the fluid (more of a paste) definitely keeps the drill cuttings from flying everwhere. I highly recommend using some kind or any kind of lubricant when drilling metal. It will extend tool life, and make a cleaner cut.
Nice install! The one thing I might have done different is to upgrade the frame holes to nut serts. Always enjoy your content. I'm building a 95 Cherokee Sport. Just as a daily and maybe occasional mild off road excursions.
The black wheels would look really good with the new paint and those rockers. Great install video and results - my outer rockers were pretty much gone, so I'm currently fitting in some 2x6 and welding support from the rockers to the frames.
Those rock sliders look great. Your video is much better than the (boring) Super Bowl ! And yea, the rain has been non stop and really heavy all week up here in Northern Calif also. Can't wait for some sunshine!
Thank you! We are really happy with how they look, but we know they will be scratched up in the not too distant future. Agree, the Super Bowl was a dud!
Nice install. Man I can't believe how clean your XJ is underneath! Despite trying to keep up with things, New Jersey winters have really taken their toll on mine.
Im a subscriber from the other part of this planet and i enjoyed watching this ALOT.. Did you believe that a 2001 xj cost a 13000$ in its standard shape in my country.. Its 4 inch lift kit costs about 6000$.a set of 35 weels and tires cost 4000$..a front and rear accels with rear lockers cost 7000$... Front and rear bumbers with a winch cost 4300$..not to mention led lights and bars with roof rack and some others accesories.. A total build is around 41000$.. Its such a blessing for an offroader to Live in america. Wish you all the best moment in life and off road.
Get some decent HSS (high speed steel) drill bits from a machining supply place or other place. They will make drilling a lot easier than the cheap hardware store bits.
Man you're not kiddin! Every job I do is a PIA and not really enjoyable! To the point where I don't want to take it out and mess it up, mainly because I'm gettin too old to keep fixin stuff! Right now doin OME lift complete, Ironman Fab Relocation brackets front and rear with bumper brackets for the XRC Rock Crawler Bumper with tire carrier!
Thanks for the video, keep them coming, I am going to use your video series on the Cherokee as a template for my own build. First I have to find a Cherokee in decent shape though...
In my opinion, if one is even considering buying a Jeep you better get these tools first! Mig Welder, Plasma Cutter, Grinders, Air Compressor, Two sets of jack stands, big floor jack, a HI-LIFT jack and a spare bottle jack along with a large accompaniment of mechanics tools to round it out! Even with the proper tools, it's never easy and straight forward like most guys show on videos!!!
Awesome videos. So great to see a father and son working together. Doesn't happen as much as it should these days. On the rubber mat... What is the brand? Is it cut/molded to fit?
Was checking out the light bat set up was hoping maybe I could let me know the specs?? ,it looks amazing and the fact it retains covers on them would be perfect for my state I live in I don't like light bars, I love that set up tho, I'm already digging the rails, hard to find a solid choice those look really great.
I’m considering putting 35’s on my 2014 JKUR, but it looks like if I do I will have to shorten my rock rails. I have LT 255/75R 17 on it now and I only have 1 1/2 in clearance on back tires.
I highly recommend sliders. "Come on out! You don't need sliders! There's nothing at the park that will damage your rockers!" Yeah, After repairing a rocker panel I disagree. You got the two best things with that Cherokee. It's a 99 and it's red! :D Oh! Those sliders are great for those folks that slam their doors open when they park next to you. Guess who gets the damage when they do? :D

get well and fight the the hell of your cancer..cheers from Canada
I just saw you retired a command master chief...congratulations in achieving that rank. Semper Fi.
Thank you! Oorah!
Great Job! Always good to see Dad and Son working together! Work together, play together, stay together! You are truly blessed.
If we can't be out on the trail or camping, the garage is our next favorite place to be... love turning wrenches with my sons!
Way better than the super bowel.
pra3t0rian boring af !
I thought the super bowl was last weekend 🤔
pra3t0rian I get super bowels after Taco Bell
Agree, it was so underwhelming!
I had a super bowel reaction to the stuper bowl.
Such a fun project. ....awesome to see family sharing a passion and working together. Heartwarming. All the best to you guys.
I'm blessed to have sons that are willing to share this passion. Thank you!
Good job Justin! XJ is looking Awesome!
Watching your show has inspired my pops and myself to do one last build he said he has in him. He just turned 78, still wrenching in the xj daily. Thanks for all you do

I hope we are making some good memories with this project! Thanks!
She really is coming along, thanks!
Love to see a Dad sharing knowledge with the kiddos. Great video. Good job on the install!
In the garage is one of the rare times they actually listen to me! LOL! Thanks!
The two of you are fortunate! I hated having to do anything with my ol man! We were both Marines, but he had a nasty temper and was an alky! When things didn't go as planned, he'd go off and literally throw tools at you or backhand you when he got near! You never knew what was going to happen next! That's one bad XJ. She's come a long way.
how awesome the father &son bonding at the same passion,,subs from the philippines
Nice Brad the sliders look good. I'm researching sliders for my rig right now.
There is something about working on Jeeps inside during a heavy downpour thats very relaxing.
Justin Rocks! Priceless Father and Son time. Love the look of the rock sliders. Great install video and can't wait to see you both out on the trial with both rigs again! Very nice gift to Justin with the floor mats!
Absolutely priceless. Sometimes I wish would have bought an old Jeep years ago for us to wrench on.
+TrailRecon cuanto cuesta una de estas????
Rock on! I recently gave my xj buddy my stock JL sliders... which he subsequently welded into his 92 xj.
Great video thou! Drilling into the frame is work for sure! 🤙
Thanks Brad and Justin. This is why I bought my first Jeep last November. I want to get my two boys interested and work together fixing it up.
Awesome! I hope you and your boys build some great garage memories together!
Enjoy the videos Brad. You seem like a great dad!
Nice work Justin. And good guidance Brad.
Great to see you and son working together.
Thoroughly enjoy your videos! Great to see you and your son working (and playing) together on these projects.

Welcome to the channel and thank you! Always great to hear about other father and son projects out there.
Semper Fi, you have all my respect!
I get too excited when I see a new project on the XJ, I enjoy seeing how it comes along.
Nice job guys... Enjoying this channel.
Great job on your rig. We are continuing to follow your progress on this build. Thanks for all the tip and tricks you have provided Dvae
Good work Gentlemen! Love your videos! Great memories made with Dad!
Awesome father and son video! Great job!
Thank you! It's always fun turning wrenches with my sons!
My 1999 Cherokee Xj has almost 400,000 miles and is just like new. Original head gasket and cat too...This vehicle is a Beast
Nice work! Good to see the family working together. These should offer great protection for that beast!
Thank you! We can't wait to get out on the trail and put them to work.
What a awesome video no better bond than a father an son great stuff looks good
Wow, this Xj is really coming together well! Keep it up!
Thank you and will do!
Love the Logo I saw that firs thing when you showed the sliders. and that rubber mats are a great gift.
4x4 off road IS my life
Ive had a my jeep cherokee xj for just over a year and so far ive completely put brand new engine parts on adding about 90ish extra hp and soon ill be upgrading the body, suspension and interior
I have my turbo diesel XJ also for a year! :-) It was lifted last week, new black steel wheels and some aggresive tires.... I really like that rig a lot!!
Hands on tips are great, keep up the great content
Thank you and more videos on the way soon.
Family Business 😉😎 Good job !!!😄👍👍👍
It's nice to have the boys help out with the videos, but even nicer just to get to spend some time together.
Man those sliders are sharp! Love the TrailRecon logo, that is such a nice touch!
We were blown away when we opened up the package and saw the logo... totally unexpected! Thanks!
Glad to see this video pop up in my feed, been wanting to do those exact ones on my xj
You've inspired me to get my 2000 XJ Classic back up and running. Can't wait to add all the upgrades too! Great series with lots of great info! Kudos to you and your sons!👍👍
Great video! Love the father son videos
We love doing projects in the garage, thanks!
wow this series! i watched this i think over a year ago crazy how far its come.. i think your kid is still growing, too!
That XJ custom color looks so different indoors ! Gonna do the same rock sliders to my 99 in the spring time , thanks for the video !
The color look much darker in side for sure. Thanks!
The Xj is looking awesome Brad👍👍
Appreciate it, we've got a few more things in store for her still.
I love the Cherokee videos!! Awesome as always!
I plan on buying my son an XJ as his first car too. I burned through the playlist as soon as I found it. La Sucia Jamie FTW!
So awesome doing a project with your son
Absolute enjoy these moments!
Nice install. Jeeps looking good!
Thanks man!
Like jerry marsh said it’s always grate to see father and son working on they toys grate video and ,, hell ya TR on the rock slider just killed it 👌

love the XJ's, nice job as well.

Wow the hero’s looking better then before nice paint job n Tim’s making mine look real cheaply
Nice install. Man I can't believe how clean your XJ is underneath! Despite trying to keep up with things, New Jersey winters have really taken their toll on mine.
That's one advantage we have here in the southwest, very list rust to deal with. Thanks!
Nice job B-Rad.Looked like an easy install too....
Thanks! A very straight forward install!
One tip for drilling metal is to slow the drill speed down. You want to see chips not heating the drill up spin'n fast. Great Job!
Looks awesome, great job!

Wow, that's a hefty price for an XJ, we are thankful for sure. Thank you!
Those look really great
Another great video. Nice job.
Get some decent HSS (high speed steel) drill bits from a machining supply place or other place. They will make drilling a lot easier than the cheap hardware store bits.
100% agree... we had this conversation off camera. Time to invest in some quality ones.
@@TrailRecon my father is a machinist and gave me some of the old ones from work, night and day difference.
Whats a good brand?, for now I have been using a drill doctor on my cheaper bits every 4th time I use them. I need to get better bits.
Milwaukee makes great cobalt drill bits for hard metal. The set is about $30 at Home Depot
Great video guys
Really good Father and Son project, keep it up. Better than super bowel and better than rugby here in the UK
Awesome video! 👌🏼
I see eye protection. I approve of not getting underbody junk in your eyes.
Man you're not kiddin! Every job I do is a PIA and not really enjoyable! To the point where I don't want to take it out and mess it up, mainly because I'm gettin too old to keep fixin stuff! NC MOUNTAINS ❤.🙋.. 👍👍... KILLER.. upgrade 👌... nice work !
Look's Real G00D to me.......NICE JOB..........👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Looks great
Awesome video as always!
Thank you!
Thanks for the video, keep them coming, I am going to use your video series on the Cherokee as a template for my own build. First I have to find a Cherokee in decent shape though...
Thanks and good luck on your XJ hunt!
Xj is looking good men👍👍👍nice!!!!!!!!
Thank you!
Why did you stop making videos on this jeep? Did you sell it?
Looks great!
Need to put some frame stiffeners on that Xj! Don't want to twist that pretty paint job!!! '99 XJ looking sweet!
You remind me of one of those rare officers who the bods actually like to have around.
love the wheels what are the specs?
How are these sliders holding up? Self tappers still holding strong?
Notch Custom fender flares next?
Who made the rock rails ?
Where did you get the floor coverings. I need some for my 99. Did you have to trim them at all?
What do you think of first generation Dodge Durango?
Have you guys thought of adding frame stiffensers ?
It's something we'd like to do, but a very involved project that we are not ready to take on yet.
Where did you get the rock sliders? I like those.
Nice job bud
Will this also act as a frame stiffner?
In my opinion, if one is even considering buying a Jeep you better get these tools first! Air down those tires it will be easier on the off road harshness of the rocks and give better footprint in the snow.

Glad you made this video I was just looking at Rock sliders on Craigslist for $250. 😂
Hope you find a good set. Check out the guys at Goliath Off-Road, very good prices.
@@TrailRecon Will do thanks!
Anything new coming for this project? I love the XJ build.
