Ive been looking at eNote devices for the past couple weeks and I keep coming back to Supernote. I love that the company is more about updating their software rather than pumping out new devices every six months to a year, like all the others. And that's also the biggest reason I think Im gonna pull the trigger and get one of these bad boys.
Awesome. I know my style of videos isn’t for everyone but a comment like that makes my week. I just don’t see the point of covering stuff that’s already covered. When I was looking into the Supernote that was one of the things that frustrated me.
I just wanted to let you know how much I am enjoying your series on the Supernote tablet, and I found your video on reading PDFs versus ePubs particularly interesting. I think your idea of using PDFs for reading books is really intriguing, and I'd love to hear more about your process for reading and annotating books using the Supernote. Your videos have been incredibly helpful and informative, and I appreciate the time and effort you put into creating them. Keep up the great work, and thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experience with us! Best regards
Wow. Thank you! I’m glad you’ve found them so helpful. I’m still reading PDFs and at this point I don’t think I could read in any other digital format again. I feel like I own my books again. The way the books work in the other apps always made me feel like is was renting or borrowing books. I’ll definitely add the annotation process to my list of video ideas. If there are specific things you want to know please let me know I’d I’ll be sure to include them. Thanks again!
@@CurlysCurated I'm particularly interested in how you annotate books and whether you prefer reading solely in digital format and why. I also wanted to mention how much I appreciate the way you present your ideas. You have a great way of explaining things and keeping your audience engaged. So, feel free to talk freely: I bet it would be interesting! Thanks again for all your hard work, and I look forward to your next video!
This is not specifically related to the Supernote but I’ve started a channel to share my journey into analog note taking. I thought it might be something you’re interested in: th-cam.com/video/9O5VPbrmHhY/w-d-xo.html
It's amazing how many videos there are showing how great SN is as a day planner. That's great and all, but I've been thinking of getting one with the same use cases you described. My Moleskine is on its last few pages, and I have a dozen paused projects just because I can't carry every notebook/source book with me to use in spare moments or when I have ideas. SN fixes that. I'm planning on ordering in the next week or two! Thanks for the videos!
Yeah. I’m not sure about the day planner use either, but to each their I own right. I can tell you I’m still using it everyday as a notebook and a reader. If you get one, I hope it serves you as well as it’s served me!
I recently purchased a Supernote A5X. I tend to do a lot of research before a purchase, and this was no different. However, often times I may have a little buyers remorse because I missed something in my research, etc. I have ZERO remorse on this purchase. I've only had it a short time but I fully expect that a year from now the Supernote will still be my primary notebook and not shoved into a corner never to be seen again.
I’m still kind of amazed how this just fit perfectly into my life and and replaced my paper notebooks with no effort on my part. Excellent device. Glad you’re digging it too.
Love your actual use case review and how you touch on e-pub as well. Most other reviewers only focus on PDF use. One thing I still can't find the answer to. Can you use the "Digest" and "bracket" feature on an e-pub book? I much prefer reading in e-pub format, but really need the annotation and "digest" feature (where it pulls the bracketed paragraphs and your notes and exports it). Thanks! Edit: another Q. I know one can hyperlink in the notes, but I was wondering if one can do that within a handwritten annotation.
I’m stoked to hear it was useful to you. I know a lot of questions fall through the cracks. I’m gonna do a video sound with all the Supernote questions people have asked. BUT it would be kinda lame of me to make you wait when your questions are easy to answer now. 😂 The digest feature DOES work with epubs. The hyperlink feature ONLY works for notes/journals. NOT with books when annotating - even by hand.
@@CurlysCurated hi, another question if you don't mind. I just read a forum comment saying that the annotation/Digest export quality is low (i.e. the handwriting/scribbles turned out jagged in the PDF export, to the point of rendering it unreadable in cases). Has that been the case for you as well? Thanks!
Thanks for the review. More of an every day use case which is refreshing and helped me decide to buy one. I’m just trying to decide in the a6 or the a5.
Yes! I love hearing that. This device has a very specific audience and I love hearing that people are finding their way to it. I had trouble deciding on size as well. I went big because I had an iPad mini before and remember finding the size frustrating. In addition I was really looking forward to reading books in essentially 8.5 x 11. Less page turning. More immersion. Either way I’m sure you’ll dig it!
Not sure if you’ve bought one yet, but I’ve had mine about a week. I was also very torn about whether I should get the 5x or 6x, because I love smaller more compact devices but I’m a chemistry student and didn’t want it to be too small to fit a decent amount of notes on each page. So I went with the 5x, and something I noticed is that it actually looks slightly bigger in all the TH-cam videos than in real life for some reason. It’s pleasantly small and compact, relatively, but I can still write/draw a good amount on each page. I’m perfectly happy with the 5x. 6x is probably better suited for someone who just jots things down a lot like on a large notepad I think.
I love my new Supernote. I am using the ceramic pen with the fine line at .4. I bought it because I like that I won't ever have to buy more tips. The pen feels so nice. Visually it looks like a fine point sharpie. It feels somewhere in between that and a ballpoint. I thought that maybe the sound from writing would be annoying. But videos that highlighted what it sounds like, well they absolutely exaggerated it in the process. I am using it to edit my book I've been writing. I already have many notebooks of notes. I've had it for less than a week and so far I've had a hard time putting it down. I've utilized it at work and my boss was intrigued so far.
Totally agree! The sound thing was so over done. They put the mic too close to the pen. I was expecting the Lamy to make noise after watching one of those and it’s completely silent. Those sounds tests were one of the things that made me thing I shouldn’t get the ceramic nib. It sounded so loud! Glad it’s not true. I’ve also noticed people being intrigued by the Supernote. Not so much in public because I’m sure they think it’s a big Moleskine notebook but I was taking notes during a house walking through and the contractor was fascinated by it, said it looked more useful than his iPad. 😂 it’s funny how what’s essentially a retro technology grabs people’s attention. Maybe we’re all realizing that things have gone too fast.

I’ve had my a5x for about a week now. I’m a chemistry major and this thing replaces all of my notebooks. The desks at school are incredibly tiny and this allows me to have my Supernote on my lap while still being able to have my MacBook out on my desk. Its an excellent note taking device and very intuitive to use and organize notes with. It also keeps my backpack from getting filled with messy notebooks that I’ll likely never want to reference again, and papers that I’ve had to rip out of said notebooks. It’s just an all-around winning situation for me. Great video! P.S. I also instinctively tried turning the page like a notebook my first few days using it 😅
Awesome! I’m glad it was a help. Sometimes the nitty gritty, nerdier details get passed over with all the talk about features (which is also important.) It’s a great device for focusing. I love reading on it rather than all the tiny screens.
To be honest, yes. But it doesn’t bother my much because I was writing on paper before so basically it’s the same problem when it comes to light. The advantage though is my eyes don’t burn like their do after using the computer or iPad.
My first impression of writing on the Supernote was, "Cool, this is like writing with a gel pen!" I've been using my A5X for just over a year now. I use it daily. The Supernote is what got me writing again.
Yeah, you’re right, it’s definitely hard to tell. They say they have offices in Tokyo, London, and Shanghai but nothing about where their main office is.
