Maggie is visibly bonded with Olive. She heads right for her. So cute to see Maggie looking up at Olive as if happy to think Olive is hers.
Yeah I always try to capture it in film cause it’s just so wholesome. Maggie is the only one that does it really.

I noticed my boy cat is becoming more mischievous at the end of February. Altough both my kittied are spayed/neutered, they still feel spring is coming. And act like cats. Just like your kitties!

Just a quick suggestion for handling the cats. There are cat doors that work on cats' microchips. It usually has three settings: cats can only go in through the cat door, only go out, or go both in and out. You can just flip the switch to switch between settings. I don't know if the cats are chipped but if they are, such a cat door could maybe save you some time every day getting all the cats in and out. I don't know if I did a good job explaining it, but I thought it might be useful to you😄

Love that chubby kitty! It’s really nice and relaxing to see all activities from the farm. We didn’t have any snow this year at all in England! I love snow and hate the heat!! Good content.
It’s been a weird year here too hardly any snow and keeps melting. I don’t mind though I’m ready for spring 😆

Good morning Chad and everyone. Another beautiful day on Hidden Spring Farms. Piglets are growing fast. Do you know how many are males/females? How is your new 'man cave' working for you? You have a lot of patience getting your cats in at the end.
I’ll be checking their sex when I wean them. Some of them I can see clearly but some look alike.

I've just watched one of your videos, you showed us how you wrap your fire wood, well I hope you don't mind me saying, you must think of how much cling film your using to wrap it, it seems to me that you don't need to use so much or even try using something that's more green please.

I get them in every evening...sometimes it takes 20 mins and sometimes it takes over an hour lol

I really think your ducks are low on protein and possibly calcium too… it’s so cold they are conserving all of their energy for warmth and that will prevent them from laying their eggs… when you use your chicken eggs crush up the eggshells and then mix it in with their food… you might invest in some high protein supplements for them as well as adding some heat sources to their ducky bunky….
Maybe, I don’t pressure them anyways. My Darlin crushes all of our egg shells and I blend it in their food…not sure if it’s enough though. They’ve never needed any heat sources in past years and it’s been a really mild winter too i dunno we’ll see when spring comes they’ll probably lay like crazy then.
@@HiddenSpringFarmI have an uncle who is a veterinarian and I asked him about your ducks and why they would stop laying eggs in the winter… he said low protein and calcium are the biggest contributors to low to zero egg production in any egg laying fowl…. I added he heat source because it just made sense to me :) it is always great to have a veterinarian, mechanic and salon owner in the family! Now,if I just had a plumber lol….
i live in iowa in the states and usually in february its snowing and pretty cold but for the past little while its been 60 degrees fahrenheit (15.5 C ) even up to 70's (21 C) today! its so weird but it's good to know you still have ice and snow up in canada though:)
A strange winter indeed, we shouldn’t have any ice it should be 3 feet of snow but we’ve had so many warm days it melts and turns to ice overnight. I don’t mind really, I’m ready to get the garden started 😊

Has your vet commented on reason fozzy bear is so round? He eats all the rodent kills or has worms maybe?? He looks healthy and gorgeous for sure. 😊
They said he’s fine, just a big chonkers. They wanted me to control his food but honestly it’s hard when you have lots of cats.
The cats are hunting when you go in front and they check back side for runners lol.

I get duck eggs everyday I live in ct are you giving them protein I also crush egg shells on the food
Yup and a 17% protein feed (if you can trust the feed) hopefully this spring they’ll start laying or I’ll really try to figure it out.
Those piglets are adorable… have you got buyers lined up for em yet?
I noticed the nests for barred rock have jagged edge on front, I wonder if that has to do with them laying mostly on floor. can you switch a couple boxes with others that are have a flat entrance to find out or are they secured and not easy to move?
Doesn’t stop the other breeds, but I’ll try anything cause you never know. It’s all built in so I’d rather not redo it but maybe I can come up with a cover and see if it affect them.
Did you try anything new, to get the chickens to finally lay in their nesting boxes? Or did they end up learning it on their own? :o

I don't think the cats will hunt the rats. I watch TH-cam channel where the guys hunts rats with dogs and mink. MINKMAN LoL he lives in Utah America and I don't think we will be able to get a collaboration video 😊

Yes they do hunt rats, I have 3 male cats and they are all specialists for different pray...my orange cat hunt rats and snakes...and other 2 cats hunt mice and birds.
Don’t forget there are different sizes of rats too, the first few rats that I trapped were the size of Bubbles barn cat…very big rats. But all the rats since then a cat could easily kill.

@@HiddenSpringFarm yes,that's true, but you don't know my orange cat,he is crazy 😁 i would not believed myself if I didn't seen with my own eyes...at first rat's were big as the cat (and cat had wounds from scratching and baiting, for days wounds healed) and now rats look like they shrunk in dryer 😁

It's kind of sad that Bubbles is, to my knowledge, confined in the barn. I understand that you don't want her to get lost, given that she's just a kitten and is pretty timid. But it still makes my heart sink when you let the other cats go outside and she just stays in the barn 😢
I know I feel it too, but what do I do? I’m sure if I let her out I’ll have a really hard time to get her to come back in. She may just stay close and hang around the door but what if I can’t get her back? So she’ll just be free on the property hopefully hiding from predators.
Could you please explain to me what you have put in your cat house for scratch poles
I have some poles put in the ground but do not know what to wrap them with I bought some wire but it's not working.
Does Bubbles never go outside?
Issue with Bubbles is that she is so skittish and keeps her distance that I'm afraid if I let her our with the rest of the crew I won't be able to get her back in. Winter is not a good time to test this either. She's doing much better but not ready yet.

No not at all, they are rich and earthy…almost wild or game tasting. Not really in a bad way but enough to explain why chicken eggs are the most popular.
Why do all your cats have collars? They look quite tight.
what do you mean why? do u think cats shouldn't have collars? I like all my cats to wear breakaway collars with ID tags and apple air tag trackers. Whats your reasoning not to wear collars? As long as I can get my two fingers under it's not too tight, I do periodically check also but they all have their winter coat too so it may just look tight.
@@HiddenSpringFarm I just thought they looked tight and it spoils their coat. My cat doesn't wear the collar inside.
Neither does my dog. It's a bit like wearing a tie to bed! Each to their own.
