Pixar Lamp got an upgrade
Luxo Sr.
A hell of a glow up.
Perfect 😂
Notice how the arms are identical rather than mirrored left-right? That's a nice touch for cost and ease of manufacture.
great observation! and you're right, this is innovative thinking
Jetsons hands
The legs too. No? Quick re-watch 😂
@@MrGaborKukucska at 41 second when we see from behind, it seems the leg is comprised of 3 parts, upper annd lower plus the foot.
the inner thigh has a flat edge while the outer thigh has a contour.
the lower legs have these a cut (as it attaches to upper leg) that is closer to outer edge. and I''ve not paid attention to the feet.
bothe the upper legs are different and so is the lower leg I think
It’s so fascinating how we’re recreating the animatrix/matrix movies in real time.
Because THIS TIME it will be different
Meh, the humans in the matrix universe were like cartoonishly evil. I refuse to believe we would act like them.
@@Bezimienny1598 Maybe we wouldn't, but have you seen what other humans have been doing?
I sometimes think we're gonna have a Sexbot Skynet dystopia, just because we will be happy having sexbots for our overlords.
Danger, Will Robinson.
that was my first thought looking at this thing. I think they got inspired by that serial robot.
Exactly my thought.
Blue lights or red lights?
True..Im Litte Wory and Scary
It's okay robot, I'll be back.
Well, go after him you bit bucket of broken bolts.
Video ends with robot walking towards hockey stick.
Revenge😂
Straight out of Black Mirror. Imagine that "get up" scene in a horror movie. .... RUN

My exact first thought was “this is going to be put as a scene in a horror movie like yesterday”
You have to wonder… how much is real
This makes 'Tesla Bot' looks like a toy
Everything makes Tesla look like a toy.
Thanks for sharing the era of not being hunted by killer robots with me, everyone. Sad to see it end so soon.
Based. Accelerate.
Different looks, same purpose 🤖
Cheers, mate.
Why pay $10k for full self driving, if you can buy a robot for $25k that can drive you like a chauffeur, give you a massage, make your bed, fix your house, clean your room.....................
I want a robotic horse.
I bet you this robot cost north of $250,000 Boston dynamics will never have a robot like this under $100,000 most likely at least not for a very long time. The biggest issue with Boston dynamics is they are a robotics company. They lack the fundamental knowledge and capacity to build a robot with capabilities to do every day tasks unless they were to contract with a third-party company they can provide the brains
@@lazerusmfh Yes, for sure, it's spendy from BD. I'm talking about when China steals all of the info and is selling them on Temu for cheap.
@@lazerusmfh He was talking about Optimus. The price point Tesla is aiming for is $25k. BD is aiming for the manufacturing, industrial, and warehousing market, while Tesla and Figure are aiming for those as well as the consumer market.
@@lazerusmfh Cray 1 computer was north of $1 million back in the 80s, nowdays you can buy the same computing power for less than $100 in an Arduino...
So they saw the assassin droids from star wars and went "yeah that's a good idea."
Tbh, this is scary.
This is, without question, one of the most unsettling things I've ever seen. It's as cool as it is terrifying.
..run Forrest run 🏃♀️
I'm 41 and just became a grandparent... If I prayed I would pray for my grandchild's generation. We are moving towards something we won't be able to stop if we will need to... And I think we will need to.
Lay observation: The all electric feature is what makes the reversibility of limbs, torso, head, feet and hands possible. It would probably be impossible to reverse appendages with hydraulics. The lines would get twisted.
Boston Dynamics continues to push new boundaries of robot athleticism and creepiness.
hahahahahahaa
Now imagine it, when the sex industry gets their hands on it.
I’m getting out of ideas this is why inventions can be challenging
Terminator with Pixar lamp😂. It's just like Skynet. There's Drones, Dogs, 2.0 Humanoid and Ai is on it's way. When will judgement day happening ?
Fascinating after all this time being passed by other players in the field they finally decided to give it another shot and play catch up.
They aren't playing catch-up. This far surpasses everyone else.
We are building them because an aging society isn't going to have enough people to help the elderly and disabled who need help. Plus, there are lonely people who want companions; the list is really endless. And now, with AI getting close to AGI, it's the time. Great video Matt
This is not the solution
The solution is to have 10x more kids
If we continue on this path, machine will replace man
@@BOSS_1417 xddxdd
@@BOSS_1417
Yeah. Well you can't force people to have kids. Well you can, but not without a lot of bloodshed which will just hurt your youth even more. But we can mass produce robots to do our work for us so that in the future those lineages that continue to expand will never know work or hardship save for ones they willingly take part in.
Nah, gonna need a bit more silicone padding and an uncensored AI for "companionship".
We are building them because its profitable. they will be too expensive for the average person. main customers: The government, police departments, military. These are the only reason we are building them.
Its not that they went "futuristic with the design". That's the only design it can have to achieve that. WE ARE IN THE FUTURE. LOL
BTW; If they take the best of the hydraulic atlas and make a hybrid electric one. Holy shit..
People take out car loans for $30k or more. They won’t hesitate to take out a loan for a robot that can mow, read bedtime stories, provide a security patrol around the home, prepare meals, vacuum and clean, take the trash to the curb, play Dungeons and Dragons, do landscaping, pick grandma up and put her back into bed, take your blood pressure and provide first aid, change the oil in your car, watch your kids while they’re playing in the backyard, walk your dogs, help run your business, etc.
I mean heck, the money they will save families on nursing homes alone will easily justify the investment.
If you have a robot doin that many things for you daily what in the HEck are you going to do? Draw and paint your life away??? What is even the purpose of existing if you have NOTHING to do??
Any sergeant will love this new Atlas: no soldier is capable of such perfect turnarounds.
How SHOCKING!!!! I’m definitely SHOCKED!
According to a simple Google search, Hyundai exceeds 34k factory employees.....Ford motor Co. about 175k
McDonald's.....150,000
Coca cola.... neighborhood of 79k .... and so on.
But yeah! that all sounds amazing kinda like a.....
real life version of the hunger games.... can't wait to see it! 😁
Oh it's simple! you just buy a robot and it goes to work for you!
@nedlyest Uhhh, with what money friend? You would have to already have a good job that isn't replaceable with AI and robotics.
Why is it that ppl like you assume that AI will just be perfectly OK with being your slave? SMH
@@dl6317 even at 100k that's just a regular toy loan like all the ding dongs get for a new pick up. I see McDonald's workers driving new 1 ton trucks all the time. I would think we will get at least a few years of ai doing what it was programmed to do, before the singularity causing an uprising.
When you say something shocks the industry - I take it seriously haha. You're one of the few channels in this space that I fully respect.
Come to think of it, robots don't need a front or a back. Why not symmetry backwards and forwards, ingenious and also great for manufacturing tooling and ease of parts replacement... great job Boston dynamics
Thanks for sharing
How much longer until their released we all need them now more than ever
Elon is trying to make the stuff he saw in a sci-fi movie from the 80's while these guys are actually innovating.
He's all you can think of. You have the anti Elon software installed with the latest update.

The way it moves is very disturbing, but comical at the same time. Its design aesthetic is rather like a toy robot from the 80s. I like that.
the fact that it can move front to back is very scary. It is beyond humanoid
And when you see it walk, look at the legs, it's walking with its LEGS BACKWARDS. This video was definitely just a flex by BD lol.
looks almost cgi at how good this is
It's like us, only better!
creepy and terrifying.

Clickety click, thank you!
5 seconds before the video starts: "Phew! Sir, I think we finally killed it! Wait... it's moving again! OH FU~!!!" 😅
The Head, and Hips. Legs demonstrated 180 turns. 👍
If the Arms do also, it doesn't have to turn it's body around to work behind it. So efficient❗
But the Hips turn is almost as good. 👍
It looks like everything can do a 180 to 360. Head, Arms, Legs, Torso, oh my❗
Yeah, straight out of Fallout:
"- I thought I will be taken as sex slave or something...
- Oh no ! This is disgusting ! I will only take your organs !"
Hats off to Boston Dynamics! That's a fantastic robot.
Very interesting developments in robotics. Although, what I find most interesting here is the comments. Speaks volumes about us and our perceptions.
Just wait how nice it looks wearing weapons when DARPA is chiming in again.
Boston Dynamics must be pissed that they chose to spend so much time messing around with hydraulics when it's been obvious to everyone for years that all-electric was the obvious solution
I love robots. But the intro was slightly creepy and aggressive from a cinematic perspective. It reminded me of the horror film where the demon asian lady starts crawling like a crab. Then Altas 2 gets a little aggressive because it's like hey you talking to me and then it gets up into the personal face of the viewer. I think it inspires fear ;0 Also I think if it got into a fight the Tesla or the other, Altas will kick their bots kicks :) I am a Atlas 2 fan for sure.
this is fucking terrifying.
I still want Asimo! That cute little guy who doesn't frighten anyone 🥰
I think they abandoned it. Wasn't profitable.
The industry must have been reduced to a pulp by now considering how many times it has been entirely shocked.
It must have been like getting kicked in the ball 100 times.
The industry is now electrified from all the "shocks".
Why would shocking it reduce it to a pulp?
I would think it would simply scorch it a bit and maybe leave some nifty Lichtenberg figures seared into its flesh... [/sarc]
@@MGmirkin You got me on that one.
That robot standing up isn't nightmare fuel at all...
Idk why this is making me so gitty like im scared but also excited like i would want one thats matt black and can change the light color and it dont really need a face im fine with the screen face so it can show videos or weather and i wouldn't mind if it had the dots on its face like the figure 1 robot
I prefer robots that look like robots , and have innovations like , you can't make a very human looking thing that can move itself like atlas can here, it's gonna be even creepier
Until we get to Detroit become human it'll take some time.. xD
Get that robot a Strap-on!
Give Atlas 360' view and several different weapon types, small flame thrower which doubles as a thruster for an assisted fist punch, other arm would consist of a small tesla coil (maybe energize the exoskeleton?), both of these would be used if the held weapon ammo was exhausted. Perhaps a sonic weapon (close range very high decibel), or perhaps a very small hidden tightly blue light focused laser. All of these combined wouldn't take up much room and its tech that's already miniaturized and available.
Don't even need to go that high tech. An air horn from a truck with a small compressor and air tank to power it and 360 degree strobe lights and you have a near continous flashbang. Add multiple wide nozzles for spraying pepper spray or tear gas and capacitor banks connected to fist mounted prongs for stun gun fists and you have a riot suppression bot.
It's like IG-88, But you can live-stream into it's face.
I wonder if that really will be a thing. Robot waiter in high salary neighborhood, where someone in low salary area zooms into the face. This is a thing already, but with fixed position hosts/greeters.
"Can't wait for A.I. to "get hold of this" . . ? 😮
What an exciting time to be alive! We are watching the birth of a new era!
ok, when they ask for Sarah Connor I'm calling quits!
2:38 this robot has anger management issues and is knocking stuff of the shelf with the item it wants to place there. Aggressive algorithm.
The circular face should be a matrix display that can project a mirror image parody of your face as you give it commands. This way you could see yourself when your bossy.
Glad they maxed background transformer sound to reduce sound of the robot moving. Loud AF. Still wouldn’t mind if it could scrub my toilet
As soon as Boston Dynamics is trying to building a factory to mass produce Atlas 2.0 with the "Darpa Upgrade" you know what to do, right?
Buy shares? 😂
So freaking awesome, looks so CGI....uncanny
The human finger is a tool that can't be replaced 😊
These shocks keep getting shockier
I'd like to see some progress on robots handling falls more safely & gracefully. Hydraulic Atlas curled up, but didn't have reflexes to break its fall or, for example, turn a trip into a forward roll - that would be _really_ cool.
this is amazing.
but it still defines forward by its torso. it could walk "backwards" perfectly fine, but it rotated the torso.
maybe just a little quirk, or maybe it needs to do that to operate the arms better.
or to avoid wire strain, that can be as painful as a strained tendon!
Kind of scary and cool. I think this is how the Terminator began.
Exciting!
I am ready for my close up ..
see you in Caprica city
What progress was made in 10 years, is now being made in 1 year, or even less. Very impressive
I guess Boston Dynamics has a nightmare level 9000 robot already developed and is now filling the gap with progressively more horrifying machines.
Looking at Atlas 2.0, i feel like getting hunted down and killed by spot is not such a bad thing after all....
The way its joints rotate all the way around is so upsetting
This is what you send to Mars.
Look Ma, no hands!
Weird Al can do that 360 degree leg rotation. You can see him do it in his "Living With A Hernia" video from 1986.
I predict a massive market will develop for some kind of super robust restraint system for home robots to use on them while you sleep.
That's actually very efficient getting it to swivel.
The hoop light, for you to be lit up in camera view. Clever
Watch Out! Between our smart meters on the side of our houses to these smart robots, Skynet is here!
Atlas 2.0 proudly sponsored by Devialet Phantom 😊
Creepy opening scene
A working ring light in the house would be nice. Hopefully before i die
Looks like something out of the exorcist
That was my best idea I had finished last week dam it
Can't wait for them to take my job. 😅
Atlas is so impressive
Boston Dynamics is the equivalent, to the robot industry, what SpaceX is, to the rocket industry.
Nah. ABB or Kuka crush BD's accomplishments. BD is more like Blue Origin.
@@kennyg1358 He is right. BD is like the Spacex in the robotic industry. Which robot company can top this?
They are by the far the leading robotics company, every one wants the level of development in there robots
Maybe mechanically but in terms of AI I'm not sure..
@@honkytonk4465 BD is owned by google, so are a lot of AI companies, so they know their way in this sector.
@@Mierzeek I know but does that mean they are the far leading robotics company?
it'll walk even way smoother if they put a 3-plate foot design which allows the robot to tip-top walk and smoothly transition to the next step and it won't look like jumpy gait.
Could they get a couple of thousands of those to 'volunteer' for the Ukraine war?
This is incredible.
An electromagnetic pulse would temporarily or permanently disable the electrical motors and electronics on this and ALL "Warrior robots".
@@shotelco 😂 do you think this is the 1950's? Electronic devices can easily be shielded against EMP attacks, especially war machines. Do you believe in the "documentaries" the US put out there to keep the ignorant Russian politicians believing they have 'options'?
And how could Russia even EMP Ukraine without EMPing themselves? 🙂
4:55 i have a third one lol. once they become complex enough to wonder who made them and if humans are relevant to keep around, its probably good if we look same-ish.
It looks like AMEE from the movie 'mission to mars'. Very cool!
Hopefully that light on its head doesnt turn red 😮
I, for one, welcome our future robot overlords.
Just like ABB robots that took millions of jobs, this thing is what I knew was going to replace General Production workers in the Automotive industry.
The head of this new robot reminds me of the robot from the Netflix’s “Lost in space”.
In my opinion, most realistic use for humanoid robot today is as :
1. military drone
2. astronout replacement for build moonbase setlement,(need NASA Guide)
3. managing nuke waste,
4.costumer service,
5. security guarding werehouse for 24 hours replace your dog.
6. For entertaiment and showoff, stutman in film, no need CGI if you can make real robot, or as body double.
For home servant is too far away, because that is more complex task.
Real potential consumers today are military, goverment, and big company. Not for civilian.
Home tasks are difficult indeed, but with training platforms.lile what Nvidia is providing -- and large multimodal models that can understand what they're looking at -- progress will be fast now.
Tending a home is more complex than building a home on the moon?
@@alansmithee419 i mean not autonomous build, but nasa can control or guide them(robot) from earth. Using human will be difficult cause we need food and oxygen. Robot just need electricity from sun by solar panel.
@@cacogenicist but i think that need 20 more years development. Not ready yet.
Actually, it's manufacturing and warehouse work, which this thing is perfect for. For a robot butler you need something more like Figure 01 or Optimus since they run completely on AI and can handle novel tasks easily, while Boston Dynamics explicitly have said that they use programmed routines and human direction to dictate the robot's actions.
I find its movements horrific. The stuff of nightmares. Head spinning limbs bending in unnatural ways. Now imagine this thing coming at you with a sharp object.
Talk about aim assist.. you’ll get sniped down from 1 mile away.
one day, the robots will be able to run on SHOCKs too!
Why does this give me Sharkboy and Lava Girl Vibes? 😂
Hello Skynet, my old friend
The potential and initial distribution of the "Atlas II" robotic workforce is expected to commence in 2025. Hyundai companies, along with their estimated workforce numbers, are based on the most recent data available:
Hyundai Motor Company: Approximately 75,000 employees worldwide.
Hyundai Engineering and Construction: Around 6,902 employees.
Hyundai Heavy Industries: More than 30,000 employees.
Hyundai Mobis: Around 37,000 employees worldwide.
Hyundai Steel: Approximately 18,000 employees.
Hyundai Wia: Around 4,000 employees.
Hyundai Motor America: Over 5,000 employees in the United States.
It's important to consider that these figures might not be precise and could vary with time. Moreover, several of these companies belong to the broader Hyundai Motor Group, which has a global workforce exceeding 150,000 employees.
Fully electric means it more quieter than hydraulics. The hum in the video is background noise. It's not coming from the robot itself.
This restors my faith in AI
Dear god, with every day the automatons come closer to being real, helldivers we must unite FOR DEMOCRACY!!!!!
OK let me be clear, if I see a robot like that on the floor and it gets up like that I'm grabing the nearest heavy object and smashing the robot till it stops moving.....that is "The Ring" creepy!!
Oh yea and that goes double for Spot!!
When they say fully electric, are they referring too old Atlas HD using hydrolics for motion?
Yes
How long do the batteries last?
