Computer frozen to the point where you can't open Task Manager to restart Windows Explorer? Can't restart within Windows? Skip ahead to 2:27 to learn how to do a hard restart. When holding the power button down as part of the steps shown, make sure to hold it for at least 10 seconds to ensure the system isn't simply going into sleep mode.

The “Hard Reset” demonstrated here just put the computer in sleep mode, it even appeared it was waken from sleep in this video. Be sure to hold your power button a sufficient amount of time - about 10 seconds.

I remove the battery pack for 30 seconds, then restart.
I mean batteries are not that removable in recent machines, but works too.
