I think there is confusion in many comments. the 140i, unlike the type r megane rs or I30N, is not ready from stock to go on the track as unlike the others it is more of a GT. but it has some interesting features a 6-cylinder B58 superior in every way to the others even to the n55 of the M2 and many components in common plug and play with the real M2-3-4. So from stock the 140i will go fast on the straight to make it go fast on the track it needs modifications which if done becomes a truly unique hot hatch! at the nurburgring the 140i with the right modifications set incredible times!
Best bang for your buck at that price point. As you said above it is flawed especially in the handling department but for the same price no car has a better engine.
One of the biggest concerns about buying any sports cars like these are the amount seen been ragged at the Nürburgring. Thousands of cars yearly, driven by people who think they can drive. Sadly, as you said, unsuspecting buyers will never know the abuse the cars have suffered.
@@jusalii Imagine you buy a clocked back car from a dodgy seller, then the engine goes on you, then you end up in a pile of debt. You wouldnt be so chippy if that happened to you or your family. The guy isnt thinking anyway, hes advertising the blocker on youtube in front of thousands 😂
I had an M140i for 4 years. I took it from a 2 year old standard car, to 455bhp/634nm and upgraded many parts, brakes etc. It was a very good car, superb daily, comfortable when I wanted it to be (adaptive suspension), and as fast as almost anything else on the road when I wanted to. It just never felt 'special', and always seemed to be very good until I wanted to push the limits, and then it never felt like it was happy. The ride was just so bouncy over repetitive bumps, the back end wiggled around constantly, it always felt like it wanted to kill me if I pushed too hard. And it almost did, in traction off mode, sideways on a patch of diesel coming off a roundabout on a dual carriageway, slid which I held, but soon as I got back to grippy road again, it sopat round the other way so quickly I ended up backwards off the road into a tree. I then got an OG M2. It's not quite as fast (although it is just as fast to 60mph as my old M140i due to much better traction), but in EVERY other way, it is a level above. The ride and damping is so settled, the handling, chassis balance, cornering, steering, everything is so much better. I feel like I can drive it at 9/10ths and it never feels like it will kill me. When it does start to let go, it is predictable.
M140s need an LSD to be fitted to get that predictable feeling, and adaptive suspension is great for daily cars but for proper driving at 9/10th+ you want Coilovers
@@TsZen876 Yes I know, I have owned several tuned cars, and worked in the motor trade for many years. But, just fitting a Limited Slip Diff in an M140i does not automatically turn it into an M car. The rear subframe mounting bushes on an M lite are too soft as it's not a dedicated performance car, it's designed for daily comfort, so those all need changing, then the dampers need upgrading, coilovers are a decent option, but the control arms need changing for M3 items to give you a more track style setup at the front, more camber for better steering feel, and even then the front track width is a limiting factor, an M car has a wider track and wider tyres/wheels. I genuinely considered every option for the M140i, but to make it track like an M car, you need to spend a LOT of money, and then you could have just bought an M car anyway. There is a fantastic track m140i in Scotland, he's on TH-cam, called 'Hulk' it has every mod you could possibly do, and it is a weapon. But, it has cost him so much money to get there.

Thousands of miles the engine is thrashed that the next owner will never know 🙈
Not the engine necessarily, but already under good conditions the turbo operates at its rev limit at 500bhp output.
