- This adventure we take Gary and his Pinzgauer out to the Ozark National Forest exploring some very muddy trails.
I have one of these, they are pretty reliable and easy to repair. My brother use it to collect fire logs in the forest and I to go to the off-road rallies. The pleasure to have a classic vehicle, but useful too.

Nicely done!! Love my Pinz. The articulation of the portal half axles is mind blowing, especially on the 712. It makes me wish I got the 712 over my 710.
Thanks! It's definitely a very cool machine. I was also amazed and the poral half axles and how much clearance that thing has.
I wanted the 6x6 but could only afford the 4x4 back in 1999
It's not fair, jeeps have to have standard tires.....
I am from Austria and i own a Pinzgauer 712K 6x6. A great video and i like the music when the pinz is "rocking" hahahaha

I drove both version in the Swiss Army, the 4X4 and 6X6. It was really fun.
Yep, 6x6 Pinzgauers are awsome beasts offroad, espesially in wood and mountain territories. I had the pleasure to hitch a ride several times when I did my Army service here in Austria. The boys pushed them very hard up and downhill, pretty much like in this video I have found: th-cam.com/video/ouy27giXutg/w-d-xo.html Sometimes the Pinz fell to the side, no big deal - get it back on it's tires somehow and continue. Sometimes they crashed, no big deal either in those days. Easy to repair even in the field as long as you got spare parts if necessary. They are originally Austrian cars, but were sold to many foreign armys in Europe, or manufactured abroad under licence.
The constructor of Pinzgauer was Mr. Ledwinka jr. His father was a main constructor in Tatra.
One of his products was also a Tatra T 97 which Ferdinand Porsche copied to made VW beattle
and don´t forget: this car is 50 yeaers old! there is only: 6x6, no other help! i MUST drive this things in the austrian army, from 88-91! greetings from austria!

@@ringo196 and you are wrong. Johann Puch was born in 1862 in Sakušak (then Austrian Empire, today Slovenia). The Puch factory is located in Graz (Austria). It was part of the Steyr-Daimler-Puch conglomerate, which was based in Steyr (also Austria).
Dunno but I know an Austrian started WWll and an Austro-Hungarian- Serbian started WW1 and got their bottoms smacked hard and that led to borders being changed! And a lot of Germany is in Poland to

Jeeps can go somewhere,
Pinzgauers can go everywhere
and Unimogs rescue both when they are in emergency.
Unimog doesn't back down to anything. 😊
Well a pinz will folow a unimog...but a unimog wont folow a pinz , belive me i tried.😊

Its got to feel awesome to drive a penzgaure! I may be 51 bit I want one so bad.. Its my goal to have one someday in the next few years.

The wheel hubs on the pinz to get it that clearance are pretty crazy! Great machine.

Yes, I don't think we were expecting quite as many mudholes as we found but it was sure fun to test it out in them. No problems at all!

A guy near me had 6x6 Pinzgauer. To bad we didn't had a chance for some wheeling.
Pinzgauer 6x6 driver in the swiss army in 1979, last time in 1998.
I had water hit my windshield crossing a river one time on my pinzgauer. It was insane !
I love my 712K. Go anywhere and mine has power steering.
The Pinzgauer is easily defeated by inexperienced drivers.
I think the oilpan can be protected by a metal skid,maybe a rock hit...
You can have the Jeep, I’ll take the Pinz any day. Still used by many militaries to this day. That’s saying a lot.
Considering he needed to drop half the pressure in the tires.. not bad.

Such a different type of machine with all independent suspension. Not saying this is bad at all, but you would think solid axles would be better though.

Just bought a pinzgauer vector ppv.....heavy but something different...

The vector is way to heavy due to the thick armour plating.
@@pinzgauerbelgium remove the armour and replace with thinner mild steel.....its mostly bolt on ......the main issue is a lot of the weight is up front....
All that noise, my diesel does it so much quieter.

Yes it is manual.
The later Diesel pinzgauer had a Automatic if you wanted it.

Awhile back I decided I was going to buy a 712 Pinz great vehicles and extremely good offroad. I looked for a few months and found a 712 in an ambulance config and it looked good, I didnt get around to calling and the next month it was gone. Well the month after that its back in the publication for sale same number as before, same thing I didnt call right away and the next month it was gone again, oh well there will be another one. The next month its back in the publication for sale and it says no dreamers and no low ballers need call, I thought that kind of weird. Well I call the number and a kind of grumpy guy answers the phone and I asked him about the Pinz and he still had it and said it was in great shape, I think he was asking 14K for it not to bad, well I asked him if he would take an offer, and after much grumbling he finally said he would listen, I offered him 13K for the truck thinking he would counter back at 13,500 ? All he said was you read my add right about no dreamers and hung up on me! What a prick and if he would have been decent I would have likely paid his asking price, his loss and ended up buying a Unimog!
