Project Hail Mary was such a home run. Read it in a day or two which I never do and it might legitimately be the most entertained I have been in my life.
It's insane to me that Austin hasn't started Howling Dark yet. From how much the Sun Eater has been praised by all of booktube, everybody who reads it immediately falls in love with it, how many people say it's become one of their favorite series of all time, Richard is standing next to him doing the same thing and he is like: Yeah, I will read it..... eventually..... probably.
This could completely just be my headcanon, but I feel like it's because he's such red rising fanboy. that he sees sun eater as some sort of competition to it, so he's having this passive attitude to it almost like "ehh red rising is better anyways"
I think it’s because you have to go through almost a thousand pages before something incredible happens, all the way at the end of Howling Dark. So I can see why Austin is hesitant. I think the first book does a piss poor job of selling you on the series. I only read further trusting reviews that it will get better and now I’m a big Sun Eater fan.
Will get to it 🫡. Just so many books to read and I didn’t like Empire of Silence, so I need to get the ball rolling on it, I’m sure I’ll have a different opinion on the rest of the series. Also me saying I’ll eventually read it is to not promise a review that wont happen immediately, Ive found myself being excited and saying Ill read something but then I dont have it planned in the TBR for a while, so I dont want to give any false expectations!
Absolutely love this new concept, such a chill vibe!! I can't wait for all that you guys have in store the coming month. And oh gosh, I am counting down the days until the Fourth Wing review hahaha. Happy reading & filming!!
Yeah Malazan is 100% an on for the ride type read. Turning off the desire to connect things helped me a lot and just sittin back reading words until they click (which they will). The end of Deadhouse is 100% worth all of the confusion, stoked to see the GOTM review next week! And also obviously love the channel growth. Keep up the hard work gents. One day I will play poker with yoy
Oh man! Bummed I missed the live. Love the format of a wrap up and TBR. I def would like reading along with whatever y'all are reading bc I love the reviews. I just bought American Gods. Looks like I'll read it next.
Sorry I couldn't make it to the livestream, but I'm excited for the reviews you guys have coming up. I have both American Gods and Project Hail Mary on my TBR so I'm interested to hear your thoughts. Keep up the great work guys!
So excited Rich is reading Lonesome Dove. Read it last year trying to step outside my comfort of only reading Scifi/fantasy and it quickly became my favorite book of all time. The only bad thing about that book is that I can't read it again for the first time.
This month i finished well of ascension, and hero of ages and its looking like ill finish warbreaker before july closes out. Next month im hoping to get through elantris, tress, the novellas for mistborn and elantris, then reading edgedancer, and finally getting back to oathbringer by the end of august. Im hoping to read the entire cosmere before stormlight 5 and i think ill make it if i can keep my pace
Book tastes are hilarious and eye opening. My three least favorite books I've read in the past year are American Gods, Piranesi, and This is How You Lose a Time War
If it's any condolence Richard, Malazan is my favorite series, but I had to take like a 2 month break when I read Deadhouse Gates for the first time. It really is a dense book and one of the darkest in the series. Around the halfway point I really started to fall in love with more of the characters and it felt like the plot started picking up to the eventually very cathartic ending. However, book 3 Memories of Ice was the one that truly made me fall in love with Malazan.
unique sci fi recommendation: Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky. It delves into the idea of evolution and terraforming in a way that makes my biologist heart so happy. Cannot recommend it enough--I've never read anything like it.
16:04 I’m a branderson fan and usually in his subreddit and watching interviews with him, but only books I read is stormlight. And I think it’s enough for me, don’t need to read every work every author made, example Hyperion among many.
If you ever read project hail mary, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do the audiobook version. Ray porter brings the book to life as good as the dungeon Carl series.
Wait...Austin...You're ranking American Gods higher than Golden Son??? Nooo! 😄 Well, I was trying to figure out what I'm reading next. Now I know. I GOTTA see how good this is if it beats out Golden Son!
Wow... even I who was once a Fantasy Romance fan couldn't get through Fourth Wing, I think I DNFed it after one or two chapters so ... RESPECT ! 🤣 That being said : if you want a truly GREAT dragon series PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read The Aurelian Cycle !!!! It's great and dragons aside it's also about what comes after a revolution and wonders if revolutionaries make good leaders, like the themes of the last three books of Red Rising but from a different perspective.

@@von_bekwhich is retarded, since Red Rising is a crock of shit. And yeah, thats almost certainly the reason

@Dmanfromspace My experience has been a bit different. I'm 150 pages into Howling Dark right now, and I think it's been absolutely thrilling so far!

Project Hail Mary is a mandatory audio book. You'll see why
Love hearing what you guys read recently. I am also a couple hundred pages into Mistborn atm!

Blindsight is my favorite book of all time, hope you like it
Oh no. Why did Richard read Fourth Wing. Why would you do that to yourself 😱
Edit: Ahh. Austin did too! Guys … 😂😂
😂

Name of the wind!!😂
For a short good Andy Weir - The Egg. Just be warned of the existential crisis you will have!
It would make me so happy if yall made a mistborn video
We will 😁
Artemis isn’t as good as Project Hail Mary but it is pretty good took a second to get into it
I will be working

Yeah I wouldn’t worry with Artemis. I absolutely loved project Hail Mary and the Martian but thought Artemis was awful
Project Hail Mary!
I can't make the new stream
Wait...Austin...You're ranking American Gods higher than Golden Son??? Nooo! 😄 Well, I was trying to figure out what I'm reading next. Now I know. I GOTTA see how good this is if it beats out Golden Son!
I didnt rank it higher than Golden Son! But still a phenomenal book
I’m Bout to DNF American gods

Andy Weir's Artemis was bad. I even got an arc of it and it was not it 😭
12:59 yes Richard Name of the Wind sucks , I read 2 times and hate it with passion both times haha
You're next thing is when I'm working
You guys keep saying that we are a failed democracy... However, we are not a democracy at all. We are a Republic and that is very different...
