Great video, Tim! Hardly anyone ever tests a range of a brand's ball offerings, and it's something I'd like to see more of! Would love to see a similar test done with, say, Callaway: maybe Supersoft, ERC, Chrome Soft, and the Chrome Soft X LS.
This basically confirms what I've seen on the course and in my own Trackman tests. I've compared Duo Soft+ and Supersoft to firmer urethane balls and found no difference in distance at my speed with the long clubs. I swing a little bit slower than you - 150-155 carry with 7 iron and 225-240 carry with driver. I don't argue with MyGolfSpy's contention that softer equals less ball speed. That's an empirical fact. But at my speed and below, lower compression doesn't mean less distance. In fact, I get more carry with the softer balls with irons, where I really need it. Yes, they run out a touch more, sure. But this has helped me way more often than it's hurt. And around the greens - well I don't need a lot of spin. People who use a 60º wedge for everything off the green and try to flop it right to the hole might think they need more spin. But they really need lessons more than spin.

hi Paul here the fluorescent ball in red is hard to see off the tee, it's hard to pick up while in the air and even on the fairway it's hard to see but on the green if its gets there is OK.

Hi the Optic red is terrible on course . I played in a pairs team event and a player of the opposition teed this red one up looked good on the tee when he hit it only he saw it , should it have gone in the rough well ?? the orange ,yellow , are OK and I understand there is a green one which looks OK on the green but again not in the air maybe in snow it would be OK.

@@TimElliottGolf Your backspin numbers from the staff model (designed to spin less with driver) are far from ideal. The fact that the Duo Soft achieved similar carry despite 6mph less ball speed is curious (less spin?). However the lower launch from the Staff could represent a greater negative angle of attack. Without displaying the rest of the metrics it's guesswork.
I enjoyed the video and look forward to more.
