    Those electromagnetic dead zones are so amazing for horror stories.
    Maybe have the reasoning that it's a loss of power instead of too much.

      Ooo actually, I might be misinterpreting your comment but my next campaign world is dieselpunk, so I think making ley lines affect electrical things could work very well!

    I love this and will incorporate it into my campaign setting 😊👍
    I've had lots of ideas for regional effects and for some reason I never thought of this! 🤦🏼‍♀️

    they are more currents across space in my world. Being near or far away can effect how easy it is to access, and how much it effect nature on your world. Powerful magic users, who have done the research can create nodes that can influence the streams pulling them closer and pushing them farther from worlds. this usually only effects a small patch around the note, like drawing a bit off a stream off with a bamboo pipe, but true world changing shifts can be done if a world wished to put in the effort and resources. this is how I account for the high and low magic worlds in my setting.

      So they're kinda like a van allen belt? Or solar radiation?

      @@DetMagicNZ eh, The cosmology of my setting is more layered. Magic is more like the threads that pass threw each layer as far as mortals have seen into the deep ethereal and out as far into the astral as they can perceive. Not even outsiders know how far the threads extend past them. The literal ties that bind would be a good way to see them. It would appear something like frayed yarn if you could look at the raw magic itself. But ya I reworked a lot of my cosmology away from fiction and closer to real world, greek physics models as I could wile plugging dnd world elements in were appropriate.

    This is a better explanation of real world ley lines than most scientific minded videos I've seen lol

    I have a “high level” area in my setting that is essentially a redoubt layering a barrier wall of an antimagic field surrounding an island of wild magic (both literal and figurative).
    Assuming one of my current campaigns gets past level 12-13 and the players show an interest in the plot threads leading there they’ll get to investigate why there’ve been many accidental arrivals of planar travelers in my campaigns and that it all ties back to this island of unbounded magic and the forest of crystals therein. Ancient world shattering event lead the gods to seal the source but not before some collateral shattered and scattered pieces of crystals across the world where they merged with the environment over time.
    I’ve had two campaigns discover some of these crystal-infused environments but only brief poking along the way while on their way to deal with more immediate plots.

      Interesting. I was playing a campaign where a crystal meteorite smashed into the world and created 7 crystal lakes, each of which controlled an aspect of magic.

      @@DetMagicNZ that sounds interesting, relating to colour theory theming? I’m all about music and focus on the vibration/tuning aspect.

    • @DetMagicNZ
      @DetMagicNZ  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah kinda, relating to Western European chakra colours. Musical crystals sound amazing, especially for bards. They often miss out on the esoterica of the world.
