    Fantastic vid Cara.
    There are a lot of things that we as humans do not understand yet.
    Ley lines is an area which I have never really understood - this vid gives more clarity. I’m firmly on the fence.
    But there are some facts which cannot be understood in scientific or historical terms
    So maybe there could be something in it.
    But many ancient sites have astronomical significance and don’t really fit with ley lines.
    Gosh it’s another absolutely fascinating video. Blows the mind!! 😃

    I'm very late to the party here but great video Cara! I think you did a really good job of being open minded but balanced in your assessment, and included lots of different perspectives.
    I think you and I have briefly discussed ley lines before in the comments on another video. As I think I said before one thing I took away from Alfred Watkins' book is that he didn't suggest these alignments had any kind of paranormal or "earth energy" type properties (that came later), I got the sense he was actually quite pragmatic and mainly said these ancient monuments were waymarkers on old tracks, at a time when people didn't have to deal with land ownership issues, and of course the most direct route from A to B is a straight line (assuming no natural obstacles of course). I think once he hit upon that idea he might have then gone a bit overboard in identifying those alignments, but I don't think the basic idea is completely crazy.
    That said, I am writing this comment sat at the base of a tree in the woods where I have sat probably a hundred times before! I have wondered whether there might be something subconscious drawing me back to this particular spot. It also could of course just be force of habit!

    • @openmindedwonderer
      @openmindedwonderer  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think the thoughts on leylines did come later, with the use of dowsing. To me it does make more sense that these monuments were built on routes, track ways, trade routes.
      I do sit on the fence where these are concerned.

    Thanks for this. My gut feeling is there is some truth in the theory of Ley Lines. That does not mean that our ancient folk new the routes of the Ley Lines but were, maybe, subconciously drawn to placing monuments etc. on them. Someone once told me that the suffix 'ley' in an old place name meant that it was built on a Ley Line. I found this to be untrue as it was the author, of the book you mentioned, who coined the phrase 'Ley Line' .... way too long after the villages etc. were built. Turns out the suffix 'ley' is a Celtic term which relates to a clearing in the woods ..... or something similar. After many years of hiking around the hills I can confirm that there are areas of high energy. Sometimes this energy is positive & sometimes negative. As for scientists dismissing the existence of Ley Lines. Science is (should be) a 'fluid' thing which constantly evolves in the search for the one ' solid thing' ...... the truth. As for churches being built on bronze/iron age sites well there is one such case a stones throw from me. I, inadvertently, bumped into the vicar of the church & got chatting. Suffice to say he was not impressed when I mentioned that his church was built on a ancient, pre christian site of worship! Thanks again.

    • @openmindedwonderer
      @openmindedwonderer  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      oh i bet the vicar wasn't happy, i don't feel the churches teaches the history of the areas the churches are built on. I visit one church, not built on a neolithic site but a body was found in the walls over a 100hrs ago. well documented but they knew nothing of it. and they were not happy about it.
      Going back to the energy of the land, as a keen walker myself, do you also find in some area trees grow in odd shapes. Which also makes me wonder if they are on some kind of energy line. Thank you for your great comment

    • @embers-cotswold-walks
      @embers-cotswold-walks 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@openmindedwonderer sorry for the delay. No the vicar wasn't overjoyed. It was almost as if he wanted to brush over that part of the sites history ..... probably best I didn't mention Easter or Yule! That's fascinating that a body was found in the actual walls of the church! I've heard of 'unofficial' burials in churchyards where the poor would bury their dead themselves (even under the walls/foundations of the church) but to find a body in the walls obviously suggests that the person died during the building of (time of) the church ... do you think?
      Regards 'energy of the land' then this is something I often ponder. Yes, like you, I come across areas where trees grow in an odd way & often such places do have a 'special' feel to them. Equally tho I do sometimes get similar feelings where the trees have been managed or even where there are no trees at all. On balance I would say that energy lines do exist but ( to me anyway) there are also pockets/hotspots of energy in the land. This maybe brings us full circle & why, in ancient times, places were deemed special/sacred & afterwards churches were sometimes built on them & maybe why the church is reluctant to discuss the prior history of the land?

    That was a comprehensive look at ley lines & I admit that I do believe that these channels exist. My husband worked for a water company & they employed water dowsers to chart water courses- they would not have paid them if they were useless. ( I believe all the water companies use them) I know they are not the same phenomenon but it is an example of utilising something that is ( at this moment in time) inexplicable;so don’t dismiss ley lines out of hand.

    Am a little confused. The diagram you showed with the Michael and Mary lines show a path that curls around like a snake. I thought that ley lines were invariably straight.

    • @openmindedwonderer
      @openmindedwonderer  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I still find it confusing. So the straight line is what they call the sighting line, these are the lines that Alfred Watkins talks about in his book. The lines that move around like snakes, are the lines that dowsers have found. so the lines that move around are what some call the ley lines, the Michael and Mary line.
      I hope that helps, its a topic that is confusing and hard to prove, as in the curvy lines. I personally can fully see the understanding of the straight lines, to me they make sense.

    Where you fucked up at in this video is using spherical earth shapes. Ley lines cannot exist on a sphere. The earth is flat and circular shaped just like the symbols youre using, which is how those symbols would make any sense.
