How Chef Toups’ doesn’t have his own show these day is criminal.
I worked with him on a pilot for his own show a few months ago. If it gets picked up, it'll be awesome.
He has a restaurant, let the man work
@@mercurysound33 that's great to hear, they'd be crazy not to go through with it
Totally agree with this.
He should,he’s had a few munchies appearances
I'm a simple man. I see Toups, I watch, I upvote.
I met Chef Isaac as soon as I moved to New Orleans a few weeks before the pandemic and lockdowns started. Have never heard of him or his restaurant but they were giving out free meals to service industry, and he was out there handing out beers to us in line, taking photos with people and keeping the mood light. He's such an awesome guy, I love watching his videos on TH-cam now
Isaac is such an amazing guy. Proud to have him be a spokesman for the good of Louisiana ❤
Went to New Orleans this last winter. Chef Toup's restaurant is absolutely amazing. Huge servings and fair prices. I'm still dreaming of his mixed drinks and plates.
What’s his restaurant? Doesn’t he have a few in Nola?
@fantasiafox22 Toupes Meatery. One thing I love about NOLA is many restaurants serve generous portions of great food at fair prices and this place is no different. One of my favorites
Restaurants
Toups Meatery - 1:57
Mawi Tortillas - 3:05
Crescent City Steak House - 6:06
Chris crab Factory - 8:46
Marjie's Grill - 9:53
Saint-Germain - 15:12
Clesi's Seafood Restaurant & Catering - 19:04
My grandfather was Cajun French. He didn't speak English until he was seven years old. He used to get beat in school for speaking his native tongue. Born to share cropper parents, he was the middle child of nineteen brothers and sisters, and his parents lost two sets of twins. They don't make men like him no more. He taught me the love of Cajun cooking, fishing, living off the land. He taught me to peel crawfish! I miss that man and my grandmother more than anything! C'est Bon!
❤
I’m guessing you’re either from Lafourche or Terrebonne Parish. My great grandparents went through the same thing. Neither one of them spoke English well.
Lol mais ya. Grew up in Thibedoux/Houma area. Bayou Blue technically
New Orleans is the best city in the country! I lived there for 12 years & continuously go back & visit!!
What I love about New Orleans is that he hit like 0.5% of all the amazing restaurants here. Keep doing your thing Isaac!
Respect him for feeding the kids. Thank you chef ❤
I have regularly traveled to New Orleans for the past 45 years. The City has kind people, deep history, great culture and world class food. Do yourself a favor visit New Orleans!!!
Had the pleasure of interviewing Issac as he opened Toup’s Meatery. Great guy and I love that he has not tried to amp up a Cajun or New Orleans accent.
Yourube needs more Isaac! Love how you can tell he and Will are genuine friends too
This was awesome....my favorite part was seeing Chef Toups teaching his kids how to eat crawfish. Warmed my heart ❤️
We make it a point to go to his restaurant every year. The lamb neck is by far one of the greatest dishes I have tasted.
A Toups video is always a homerun
Isaac, great job taking us around New Orleans fantastic restaurants. Y'all are definetly blessed with some good food and culture. Loved it!!!
I need a weekly Isaac show. Then the world would be that much closer to being better.
Literally put my man Isaac onto any food trend and I'm fucking IN
Here for the toups
Issac toups is a very nice man and has a great restaurant, ive been there copious amount of times. I have yet to try mawi but will soon, my favorite tacos so far are taqueria el plabano on the corner of canal and broad, cresent city steak isnt impressive to me, no Maillard on the steak and I prefer Doris. Clesis is top tier! Been in the city 10 years.
Only here for Isaac!
Great job showcasing Nola talent
Chris is our go to crab guy when we do a seafood boil. Me and my mom have literally gone out there at 9 pm and he was out there helping us put crabs in the truck. Always quality seafood.
Really nice show. Lived in New Orleans in the early 70s and worked at Brennans. Still think about it like it was yesterday.
Beautiful illustration of the food scene and beauty of NOLa!😊
I first visited New Orleans in December 2021.
Chef Isaac: PLEASE! WHERE IS YOUR CHANNEL? WE NEED YOU!!!!
New subscriber. I've been a pro commercial photographer for almost 40 years. Excellent cinematography, and well edited. Good luck to you.
He’s the best!
The bacon wrapped filet from Crescent City Steakhouse is off the chain
It’s sad that Marnie’s closed this year. I wonder when they filmed this
Hey Chef Isaac. I saw you on a Binging with Babish YT video. You were trying to teach Andrew about Cajun Food. Just saw this video on YOU this morning. Great Work in NOLA and NYNY.
Isaac Toups having to pretend that he hadn't tried quesabirria is hilarious! 😂
This was so much fun to watch! Definitely booking a flight to Nawlins soon!!!
Fun. Steaks looked great!
I can attest to Toups meat board, and restaurant in general. It is fantastic. Cocktails are also underrated, try the Sally Fields Forever....
That Marjie’s method on soft shell crabs would be killer.
Wouldnt blame the man for saying Toupes lmao great restaurant love his food! So many amazing restaurants in NOLA
Ahhhhh, New Orleans! City of a thousand restaurants, and only one menu...
The ONLY reason to watch Top Chef California is Issac. He was a beast and so funny.
As a chef myself i got to get back to New Orleans the people are nice and the food is always amazing
No they aren't and no it isn't.
@@BOBMAN1980
Will that's your opinion liberal
@@robertbissonnette4411 Hahahha.
That's the best you got. Good.
@@robertbissonnette4411 PS I've cooked for over 20-years and lived here in New Orleans for over 18-years.
If the city was so damn 'friendly', why can't people here stop killing each other and stealing/car jacking.
Also, if the food is so great, why no Michelin-starred restaurants in the town.
@@BOBMAN1980
Sounds like you should stop voting Democrats
Marjie's is gone now... so sad. One of my favorite restaurants in NOLA
Bro why he ate that Honduran taco with a spoon come on 😂
I grew up in New Orleans but moved away. I MISS the food.
If I could I would give this 100 thumbs up!!! Like like Loud
Willie Mae's had the best Fried Chicken that i have ever had in my life
It's absolutely delicious
Without a doubt. The gumbo is amazing too
I feel like every cook in NoLa can cook a gourmet meal on a table outside😂
Lotta non-toxic masculinity in this clip
Fois Gras in your flip flops! LOL!
Wth as a local I’m amazed lol
Hopefully i get a discount since we're related. Lafayette Toups right here
One question ....When is Isaac getting his own show?
15:51 Did he say a pair of little fairies? 🧚♀️ 🧚♂️ 😂
Where Issac goes my algorithm will follow ❤
Good to see some Southeast Texas "barbecue" aka fried crabs represented.
Not 100% traditional " Sartins" style, though. Looks like an Asian twist. I'm wondering where he picked that part up??
I would follow him for sure
This is just the tip of the iceberg folks of New Orleans, the most phenomenal food in the entire planet earth they compete with each other because if not, they’re shutting down it’s that good huge portions of phenomenal seafood, the best, most flavorful food in the entire world
Mozzarella is very similar to queso quesadilla. I think qq has more twang but I’m not sure if I could tell the difference
Used to live in Nola for 15’years moved to Orlando but man do I miss da city!!!
Did he say he worked for Emeril?? That’s impressive. 👍
Ribeye is number one. Even beating out the strip and porterhouse. Although porterhouse is a pretty damn good cut. Got that t-bone and tenderloin all in one!
(But ribeye is the best steak there is)
No one does food like we do here in New Orleans.
Crab buddy over there is the Forest Gump of cooking
NOLA and Louisiana is the best food city and state in the country.
Why use mozzarella instead of cotija?
Melts better and gives better texture when fried on the griddle
There should be a spinoff show called Toups Poops
“Best taco in New Orleans” is in Metairie?
Heh, I know Salt and Pepper Crab when I see it...
“Quesa taco”? “quesa” isn’t a word.
That wasn’t Mozzarella that was Queso Oaxaca 😉 sorry I couldn’t let that slide
10:10 Gimme your money crabs!
That brake tag said 05/23
This channel is gonna explode let's gooooo
Mothers ferde sandwich is a religious experience.
Check out Charlie’s Steakhouse.
In this part of the video Isaac explains the history of NEW ORLEANS cuisine but the only thing I know is watching EMERIL,and I would love to join visit this place but what's interesting is that when I was stationed down there I really didn't think about it but back in the 70s all I did was stay on base or travel in Georgia, that's about it. But back then I did observe that it was actually very poor coming from Honolulu Hawaii, but where I am from very affluent, in the valley families had money so did my family and I am not boasting just be humble as I am Chinese Hawaiian 4th generation but I like a Chef by trade and I live and work in NYC and NYC is huge with many different types of people culture and cuisines which I love and with my culinary arts and education I basically can work anywhere at I enjoy talking to different CHEF'S about food and where they are from what state, basic background and talk about different recipes and where they have worked and doing what what capacity
Good to hear, are you retired or still working?
In this part of the video I have never heard of stuffed mushrooms with crayfish because the yield of crayfish is small but if I had the choice between a NY SHELL STEAK OR A RIBEYE STEAK,I will always go with the ribeye and I won't go to a restaurant rather go to the supermarket cheaper and I know how to season it and with what starch and vegetables and what sauce and hot sauce as I like a little heat with a nice chilled beer but many places can't cook a steak to the correct temperature even if you request bleu,in French blue in English there is a difference like making escargot what style as I like them,I I will make it myself because I have to make them at a restaurant and not over charge as many places do usually French of course
What is Adam Sandler doing in this video...?
Is he kin to Wayne Toups..🤔😎
Dem fried crabs auta be sofshell, yeah!
I don't see Turkey and the Wolf...........
These folks just be sayin words. like.... SEVERAL times Im just hearing them saying words but its like reading copyright, its just words XD
Birria Taco should have used the right cheese and the fried crab is Viet Cajun... I don't care if you say it's a Beaumont, Texas thing... that's Viet Cajun flavoring
The thing about new orleans is the whole place is a gigantic toilet so all the food tastes accordingly
Love the video! But can we agree that Isaac could have done a better job explaining the impact of Black people on the cuisine as well? Seems like an important part for context! Nonetheless, great video.
In this part of the video this guy seasoned his blue crabs and fried them, but the only way I would have done this was if they are soft shell crabs, then you can eat the whole thing and either eat them as they are or make a sandwich with either a salad or soup but my brother told me that in Hawaii they buy everything, clean them and freeze them so they can have them year round for the tourists and they just love them
no gumbo
the music and the narration for the first 2 min made me not want to watch the rest of the video. if we're in new orleans, take me there. i don't need generic bbq music that doesn't match the "we're cooking food" voice over. let isaac do his thing and show some personality right off the bat
Brisket and mozzarella are not Mexican!!
Ugh. Don't get me wrong. The tacos LOOK amazing. But if you're being rated #1 for tacos in one of the largest tourist attractions in America, and the cheese you use on your Birria tacos is mozzarella... I just. I just don't know what to say.
I'm sorry but this in making me cry! You should be steaming the crabs in Beer/Vinegar/OldBay Seasoning Combo that's Maryland style. This boiling crabs in water or oil is a sin.
No boiled crabs steam only
if those are the best tacos in nola then that’s sad af
New Orleans isn’t exactly known for its Mexican cuisine. There’s more Vietnamese restaurants and a larger Honduran and steadily growing Arabic population.
The average person from New Orleans hadn't heard about these restaurants and probably wouldn't go to them - ask a local where the places to eat are
You sound bitter
Speak for yourself.
Did you miss the title that says "Where Chefs Eat" or the entire description saying "Top Chef Isaac Toups shares HIS favorite places to eat"
Did you miss the part where he described how local he is?
@10:00 reported animal cruelty
lol
that bald guy is such a cornball
Lost me right from the start - throwing cheese on tacos probably means you don't know how to make a good-tasting taco.
Quesobirria is the biggest trend in Mexican food over the past 10 years (on both sides of the border). It's not that different from a choriqueso taco, which is served in a lot of areas.
What part of Mexico are you from where cheese doesn't go on tacos?
He is only getting a part of Nola, but what about poverty, what about lack of education, what about crime. This is a two faced city, depends on who you are. It’s my home but I can’t live there.
I'm not eating no raw onion crap
