You did a great job but I have some pointers for you. When you dip a project you should have prepped the area with DYC Pre dip spray, Windex, or a mix of rubbing alcohol and water(50/50). If the project is wet or dirty, dip isn't going to cure and it could bubble and lift the dip. The reason why it's running is because you're spraying too close. You need to have some space between the can and your project. Stock nozzles that come with cans suck, get an aftermarket nozzle. There isn't a lot of spray that comes out so you're going to have to do more passes to get more product with each coat. It's especially when you're doing 6 coats with a stock nozzles. Even though 6 coats on a stock nozzle is still very thin. Great video none the less.
Nice job there! BTW, your first tip you mentioned "rip the masking when paint is still wet", won't the first few coats rip as well since you had to dry it out between coats?
Thanks, and to be honest It didn't happen like that. It was still kind of damp after 10 minutes of waiting for each coat. So it still worked out fine for me when I ripped off the masking. However If you have another way of ripping off the mask without ruining the paint then please suggest it so I can inform others. Thanks!!
Its like when you paint a wall. Or anything you do more than one layer but between every layer you wait for it to "dry". You dont wait until it is completely dry or you will get a sandy texture and not a smooth texture you wait until its kinda like a gooey consistency and you spray the next layer. After you spray the amount of layers you want or need you rip it off but not until the last layer is gooey. And if you keep adding moisturizer to a wet surface it won't dry completely so thats how it doesn't dry at the bottom.
Since this video, it has mainly chipped on the top silver trim edges (not visible from afar). Hasn't really lost it's look, though it might be a bit duller that's all.
@@BillyVisuals Awesome! Wow didn’t expect you to reply so soon, and also yeah I sorta figured.. would sanding the chrome trim before help to better stick tho? Lol
@@Pepperjack57IsAwesome please don't! not with plastidip. It's meant to be a temporary type of aesthetic enhancement not permanent. So if you sand it down it would mean that one day when you decide to peal it off, it would be damaged
Thanks a lot! prophecy0618 I think the main problem is spraying too close and also taking off the masking while the paint is still wet. if you don't take it off while the paint is wet, then you'll rip out the plastidip too.
hey youtube.. today i will be blacking out the front.. WIND... WIND... WIND... WIND... WIND... of the lancer.. WIND... WIND.. WIND.. look like evo or ralliart
NO do not do that for plastidip... there is no need for that with plastidip because it's self adhesive. You only sand it if you're permanently painting your car parts with real paint. Plastidip is only a rubber compound for protection over your parts
Absolutely, there is probably some type of vinyl spray at your local hardware store. But if you only have spray paint, you should use sandpaper to sand down the area you want to paint first. That way the colour will actually stick.
For 2008+ models they had the chrome up until 2011+ models, they changed the look of the front bumper to have the chrome all around the blacked out area on the GTS Lancer in 2011.
It's plasti dip not paint plasti dip is a rubberized coating in a can and a really cool feature is that you can peal it off when you don't want it on anymore or if you want to re do it and it should last you a long time
Wow! Shit, you're right. I would have never known that. Thanks for reminding me that I have a mitsubishi lancer N/A edition, I wish I somehow I said that in the video... Or else I would've forgotten and thought I owned an EVO this whole time!
Thanks Alot Gary! Did you have to break any clips when you pulled out the chrome piece? cause for me that was a risk I did not want to take, so I did not take out the chrome piece.
don't be fooled i thought he was kidding about the Chinese newspaper but when i did it with normal newspaper my car caught on fire
hahaha 😂
some people will take that comment seriously lmao
😂😂😂😂😂

Yeah I should definitely get different nozzles, this was my first time plastidipping so my bad for the extremely novice job.
i have an evo x, and i can tell you that came out really well.
chinese newspaper is the key to success
AllYouHearIsSwoosh lol
I used matte black vinyl wrap lasts a lot longer. Takes time to put in though :)
I went with a 2014 lancer Es just for the Evo look that had 20.00km for the same price as a new lancer

I found it just as easy to take out the chrome piece to spray it. Your car looks good.
Looks hella good, will be doing this for my '15 ES
Amazing! How did it turn out?
Worked out so well. thanks very much for sharing!
Any future update about how this car’s front grill has held up with the plastidip? Has it chipped or peeled at all?
Since this video, it has mainly chipped on the top silver trim edges (not visible from afar). Hasn't really lost it's look, though it might be a bit duller that's all.

Came out really nice!
Excellent job ! Did you remove the masking after the first coat or after you done all of them ?
I'm pretty sure he removed masking after he finished all 5 coats. or else he would overspray on to the car
@@JawDropMedia lmao
That is the best color for the Lancer GTS.
Looking to do the same work on my 09 GTS, what were the problems u ran into with removing the license plate? Looks damn good by the way too dude.

+Kd Mo LOL dead
wait, does American newspaper work or is chinese newpaper specially made for mitsubishi car projects?
I've heard those newspapers can cause some issues but go on and try it! It might just be okay!
does the plasidip last long from ppl bumping their cars into your bumper? and from car washes?
Angel bluerider nobody uses carwashes...we all do it by hand. We hate scratch machines.
Thanks a lot! really appreciate it
Nice video and lancer man
nice one!
I have got the same car and i am also going to do some plasti dip.
How long did you wait between coats?
about 10 mins.
ok thanks
My lancer is already blacked out how it came when i bought it its the gt lancer but took my license plate so I can put it on the side
Thanks, off to my chinese supermarket
Some dude told me you had to sand the paint first or else it will get ruined, is that true or no?

Cool thanks! You're car looks sick by the way! 👌 mines is a white lancer I hope I do a good job on it.. Thanks!
Hey legend! Which number coat did you take off the masking?
5 coats. thanks for stopping by :)
Does that spray paint last long ?? Or does it fade ??
It doesn't fade it just peels
I love how you made a video of a common sense job lmfao
ever seen a video on how to open a door....
Could i use normal ping if i can’t find plastidip?

@@BillyVisuals Appreciate it!
Wait the chrome is integrated on gts models?? Thats a no no only ES n DE are detachable

HikaruDesigns
Cool nice video well imma plasti dip mine you got any other mods
Check my channel under lancer playlist. I have the GTS shifter mod video. Unless of course you're already driving manual
Yea i have it already but i was looking into performance like takeda SRI it says it gives up 15 HP
Doesn’t look good with a colored car. Black grills only look good with black cars, should’ve kept it chrome
Max your definitely the only person who thinks that lmfao
Good thing my license plate is in the back..
Looks great
Can i use hindi newspaper
I heard hindi newspaper might be the better than Chinese but I can't say that for sure, you're going to have to test it out!
Row Zor wtf man lmfaoo
That blue middle part aint that able to come out??
Nope, it's built into the bumper
@@BillyVisuals but it looks like just a cover to hide the steel frame
@@yurrien8305 it looks like that but unfortunately it's not like that
Is it better with or without the chrome?
I feel like its better because it just looks more aggressive without the chrome. and the chrome is tacky
How many coats did you apply?
Did like 5 coats? 5 + coats is the recommended amount of coats or else it'll chip or won't come off as a all in one piece.
How many cans did you use?
Just one can of Plastidip.
Nice
Thanks
GUYS..HOW TO CHANGE LANCER EX LOOK LIKE EVO ...
What year is this car?
2009 year model

Lil H I haven't really had any kind of fading in my paint. So I guess a long time
