Here is a quick do's and Don't Guide for Blood Bowl 3. 5 Easy tips to make you play like a pro.
Blood Bowl is a Warhammer Games Workshop fantasy take on American football (NFL). It is set in the Warhammer universe and is played by Orcs, Elves, Humans and all manner of Chaos factions. Fantastic video Andy! To contrast your 'race guides' you could do a 'how to counter'' video where you look at each team from a bash or agile perspective

A lot of this comes down to actually considering the probabilities. This doesn't require complicated math; the dice only have six sides each and you rarely roll more than two dice at a time.
I find that having the mental image of a six-by-six grid is really helpful to quickly figure out the odds.
I think there's an exception to not being in base-to-base.
If I'm playing a high ST, high armor, block team (orcs, dwarves) against a faster finesse team (elves, skaven) I follow up pushes.
I want as many opponents marked as possible so they can't move freely. I want them rolling dodge checks to move and their rerolls used up. If that means giving them blocks, I think it's a fair trade - those blocks eat rerolls too.
A solid point. So many exceptions to every rule.
For example when you have to put pressure on the ball etc.
Loving all the team guides and tips. Played a bit of blood bowl 2 but never got super into it, was constantly getting crushed. With BB3 I'm getting back into it, so all the guides are great!
That was impossible too Found players to Play agaist on 2. This is why BB3 is better . But i Found so hard .
I expect a lot more hard core players to shift to 3 and casuals to stay with 2. How do you expect not to get crushed?
Absolutely outstanding content here. For a newer player like myself, i really like having a general formula for turns (1, 2, 3, 4) that allow me to bring consistency to each turn over the course of the game.

Tip for veteran players: DON'T try to just hand the ball off by standing next to the player like BB2. You MUST pick the "hand off" icon at the bottom of the screen menu or it will try to pass by default. Another "wonderful" change they made. It's cost me 2 TDs and a win (ended in a tie) in comp play so far because old habits die hard I guess. 💩

Playing on FUMBBL, I've found that for teams with cheaper rerolls, a 4th reroll lets you play for the critical moment.

Cool video, Andy! Glad strategy vids are coming :) Some situations/mistakes you mentioned are definitely sounding familiar.
I was thinking it could be cool to "recap" a certain specific turn of someone's game, where things were done wrong, then ask us "pause, what's the play instead?", and then show how you would approach the turn?
-Annoying cage situations where there's not a lot of space to move
-Surfing/chainpushing situations
-Mitigating risks in certain spots
Just some ideas. I realise those videos are more labor-intensive though, perhaps. Either way keep up the good work!

I've gone into the ladder only recently with a new team of all horns. It has been fun ngl but I dont think I'd get too far without the conceded which happened 3 times in a row to me.

I'm nearly 2000 games of bb2 but I still watched, there's no harm in refreshing what you know.
You forgot to mention the most important one, Get use to Losing to Elves cause it's almost inevitable.
Also get used to losing elves because they're squishy as heck.
Except that the game crashes when you make a pass, so playing against elves almost guarantees a victory and 2 MVPs
Thanls for the video. The best insight on this one is the necessary skills question and team value. Lore is not necessarily better.
It would be really helpful to understand where SPP comes from and how to accumulate it on players such as linemen when you are minimizing the number of hits taken for the situation. I started with Dwarves and they seem to enjoy the hitting game more than most with the block and thick skull. It's different for the other teams.
I can see the value in having the hard to move big guys at higher levels of play as the center of the field is so important.
I don't know how I feel about the agility teams as the dodges feel more risky to me than they actually are due to the armor break being automatic on a failure.
Fouling is a good way to injure players but also feels more risky than allowing hits after hacing played Dwarves. Perhaps losing a player due to it in exchange for often no better than a knockdown in terms of chances for an injury doesn't seem like a good bargain a lot of the time especially as to foul you need a player already knocked down. I do see the advantage in being able to move before the foul though.
You are right about not always following after a block - I think part of the issue is the fishing for SPPs from more injuries inflicted. That is mitigated by the consideration for team value, but it can take a very long time for linemen to get SPPs even when fighting a lot and that sweet blodge and block/guard are going to feel a long ways away. If you play it slower then the players may die or be maimed before they ever get to additional skills like that and then you are at a disadvantage against better skilled teams even with inducements. Here is where the SPP accumulation strategy would help to limit the tilt induced by the greed for those.

I think the point he was trying to make was, don't give free hits for no purpose, no matter the team. Contact team will play contact, but with a purpose : for them, marking players that are maybe quicker but more fragile give them more value than leaving unmarked with their low movement high strength and/or high armour players. but even in orcs v elf, giving the elf a free two dice block or two without purpose can be a mistake. Chance for removal, but also a probably low movement player now having to spend a turn getting up, impacting their capacity to follow the play.
I feel seen with a lot of these. But that's probably a good thing, being a complete newbie still learning the game.
I learned #1 the hard way. It's easy enough against the AI on BB2 to go get 2, 3 or even 4 touchdowns. It's only when I played pvp that I realised I actually should be aiming to score on the 8th and/or 16th round.
The other one that I learned the hard way was that it's better to use blockers to forcibly create space for a loose cage than to throw a Skink up the far side and hope his 8 movement gets him to the touchline before a Werewolf knocks him out of play.
On a similar note: I adore the Lizardmen; they are my ride or die, so they're the team I want to get good at playing with. As they've no concept of passing the ball around I figured I'd have Saurus units tie up threats whilst the Skinks move the ball. I had a kicker who I nicknamed "Lounge-Lizard" because he had a lazy job. He was just to kick the ball, watch from safety as the two teams batter each other, whilst safely moving towards the ball, waiting to grab it and run as soon as it becomes loose.
He inadvertently became my main pointman, which probably highlights the difference between how I think I should play the game and how it should actually be played.

Also, random skills on cheap rookies are good if you can afford to replace them. Could be Block, but even if it's Tackle it's worth half price. Once you have skills, or for position players, not so much.
Big newb question. How do I get more skills? Are all factions different when it comes to getting skills?

I am new but my thought was that the big guys are higher variance, but their failing doesn’t cause a Turnover (Really Stupid for example) so understanding how that plays out to start a turn let’s you make more informed decisions with the rest of the players.
Similar to if you were to potentially knock a ball out of bounds, you would want to do that earlier so you could react to where it ends up.
Why is this not the correct way to think about these choices?
Hey Mr Davo could you make a video with a bit more detail on what you do on offense ? I find as agi teams I find myself rushed as with teams like elven union my dudes get killed so fast.

I'd argue that more players on the bench isn't that bad because if you run 11-12 players on team you risk getting diced with armour rolls and ultimately your opponent outnumbering you no matter how good you are. Especially if you play armour 8+ teams you will get your players injured almost every game...So with skaven and khorne I ran 14-15 players (free spot for star player) on team and even with that I had 12 or 13 for the game because almost always there was one or two that was MNG. And yes I know khorne is armour 9+ and 10+ but those 8+ lineman die almost every game its ridiculous :)
Actual gameplay footage, even if its random dtuff from bb3, the video quality would be way better. Even better if you could do an actual demonstration within a match that'd be perfect.

Yes, ideally.
I understand not scoring as soon as possible can be good for winning but urgh people who stall are the worst 😂. Be a sportsman! Haha
Thanks for the video, really helpfull for a beginer. With dark elves, if I start 2 re-roll and 1 runner to take leader early, should I fire my runner (or not replace it if he die) when I buy my 3rd re-roll or the leader re-roll to have 4 re-roll is sill worth it because a reroll is 100k and a runner 80k ?
I play a lot of elves and I play Dark elves with 4 blitzers, 2 witches and line elfs up to 12 players. In tournaments I will play with the runner though and if you feel the runner helpful I think you should keep it. Its one more AV 7 to "hide" behind a screen but still a good piece. If you find yourself often having to make 2 turn TDs then the runner is really helplful to get the ball up field faster with PA 3+ if needed.
@@christianwinter8014 Ok thanks I like the idea than my final team will be 4 blitzer 2 witches 5 lineman 1 runner for attack and 1 assassin for low armor team and do switch between 1 lineman and runner/assassin if runner/assassin utility is not needed, so I will keep going with my runner that give me 4re-roll
Part of the fun of football games are the cheerleaders. Why would I deprive myself of them, especially with them being fantasy races? I play a game to have fun. So I am going to do the gf in things.
They pretty much do nothing for your game

One question about roster size. Why I should stick with 12 players in the beginning of career?
A lot of times you have 2 serious traumas in the match. Which means that you will play with 10 players next match. Which is a big disadvantage, does'nt it?
because ladder matches on team value, so keeping it lower helps you get lower skill matches

2D block without block is still safer than a 1D block with block is it not?
1 in 9 fail vs. 1 in 6 fail.
When prioritizing blocks it should be 2D with block, 2D without block, 1D with block, 1D without block, then any uphills (taking a shot at a big guy for example).

Question Andy: So matchmaker put me against an Orc team that is 65k TV higher than me. I pick my 50k keg and click ready. This dude waits until only a few seconds left and buys Morg N Thorg. Shouldn't I get equalizing inducement money? Did he take advantage of the timer/game mechanics so I couldn't respond? So now I am starting this game 395k TV down from a bashy orc team with Morg. Let me know if I am correct. if so they need to ace the timer and put an "Agree" button in once both players get a chance to see the final results.
this is a bug / issue with design, its shit and someone has worked out you can game the system. I'm not making it public because I dont want it to proliferate.
Only thing I disagree with currently is TV matchmaking, it's definitely not in play, I regularly get fresh teams against 500k plus more tv

@AndyDavo's Blood Bowl that will be the issue then, would of thought of any game this would have cross play as neither would have an advantage
any advice on the BRUTALLY BAD rolls i always seem to get ??? game after game after game loss after loss after loss.... really getting tired of the only wins i get are from concessions ...
We all get runs of bad dice, but are u saying u never ever get fair dice? If so, is it the dice or your strategy?

'number one thing about blood bowl is not about killing things, but actually about scoring touchdowns' disagree massively, rgby and madden games exist if you want to score and feel like winning from scoring gives your life meaning and validates it, blood bowl is all about the violence , bashing , touchdowns just give you more points to level your guys to bash more ! ;)
dont score to early, just say play dwarfs 🤣and sorry but standing up is often better then stay on the ground, specially when it is a high armor and important player in your team. let them on the floor is a free foul for the other coach, and i foul you when you are on the ground and get extra +1 on the armoir throw, i will get your good players off the field no matter what i have to do

Some good advice here but also falls into the trap of “how to make the game boring and force burn out!”
I love to score early and play with an assertive manner. This makes the game so much more fun. I’ve played “meta gamers” a few times, it’s very dull and uninspiring. When I make a move (whichever game I’m playing) against a “meta player”, I like to mix things up. “Meta players” don’t tend to be good dynamic thinkers and just follow the same routine they’ve learnt of a TH-camr or read from the internet. So, when you make some wild actions/turns in your game, they don’t know how to cope. I’ve won a few games this way and almost every case has seen the “meta player” red faced (literally) and them telling me how I played it wrong and I was lucky.
There’s nothing better than hunting the ball in a wild frantic manner, then popping the ball out and going 2-0 up. This makes you a better player imho, not trying to force a 2-1 scripted game that’s boring as feck to play! I’ve painted my miniatures and spent time building a team, you can bet I’m wanting to have fun playing the bloody game in a dynamic manner, which is the very sole of the game!!!
TH-camrs can give advice by all means, it does help. But, stop with the boringness, it wrecks the game and creates burnout and does nothing to grow the game, as it just puts some new players off as they see the game as stale and scripted.
First rookie mistake is buying the game.
Get the board game. You can play all the teams 👍
Step one. Don't buy it.
... yet. Eventually the game will improve, bb2 players will migrate and the previous games will die off.

To be fair, BB3 is only half a game at best. Most of it is a money extortion tool.
It would genuinely be bad for any potential future game of Bloodbowl if it was endorsed by the majority of players, which would tell the devs that this is acceptable.
Stick with BB2, demand better, not even loads better, just not to be treated like idiotic livestock to be milked.
Eh, I'll give it a year or so then acquire it for "Free" once the full game comes out. I wanna see how badly the mangle the rest of the teams. and I don't have hope for it compared to BB2. (that and I don't support their Money grubbing Actions)
Good stuff. Even after playing some 250+ games in bb2 there was a little detail here I had not though of so concisely ( following up to escape contact away from numerous opponents ). And good to revise the 4 questions : )
