Thanks for the backstory section at the start of the video, I've only played the Total War and Vermintide games so the context was needed for me to appreciate the rest of the critique.
Some of the things he discusses in the STORY segment are not implemented yet but are being developed, such as the pitch specific elements and the team specific card inducements. We apparently will see these at some point down the road once perfected.
@@NeroTheAngel Agreed, but... it's also using the old ruleset and teams. The numbers of folks playing Blood Bowl 2 is dwindling also. In any case, if you ever plan on playing the tabletop version, go with 3, it's current. **If not, MrDitano is 100% correct. As far as game offerings go, Blood Bowl 2 is a MUCH better package from how many teams you get as well as the fact it feels like a more polished product.
Got it on my Xbox series X when it launched. I’m looking forward to finally having cross play on June 11th and hopefully that will make the game really kick off again on console.
I guess I'll get this now, that its half off on xbox. Hopefully it doesn't cost too much to get me the Lizardmen and Undead. Need these two teams in particular, because of the fond memories I have with these teams from the previous games. Did I understand that right, that every team has its own arena? That is awesome. Does the Arena come with the team or do you have to get it seperately? What does a team and an Arena cost in real world money? I'm pretty much an on and off player for Blood Bowl. I'll do a match here and there, but I can't see me grinding out all the tiers of a season pass to unlock the teams. Or can they be grinded without a time limit (like earning say 10 Warpstone a match and picking up a team for 500 Warpstone)?
Nice video and great and fair review. The one problem I have with companies changing and trying to make up for their mistakes is that it feels like them, determining how little of an effort they have to put in and how outrageously greedy the monetisation can be in order for people to still buy the product. Effort is often only shown after community outrage and the threat of loosing customers.
Game has come a long way. I've been streaming it and had one error in the past two weeks (game ending screen said connection lost but processed normally). I do wish there was a bit more rules breakdown for beginners but there are plenty of videos and articles out there to help with it. Nothing beats a tabletop tournament though.
Regarding the dice, a) the pattern recognition is why we feel that way, but also b) no program has perfect randomness. I don't believe this is really perceptible to people though. People just don't have an intuitive feel for true randomness. I believe it was in Xcom where they had to make the hit chance mechanics *less* truly random because of the outcry that players felt the dice were weighted against them. Players would miss 99% shots and be like wtf it happens so much, but it's random and when you're taking hundreds of shots, it's gonna be happening. Sometimes twice in a row--that's true random chance.
I picked this up again on PSN+ but I'm sad to see it still doesn't have an eternal league from BB2. Looking online, the dev's said at launch it was a priority... but now I'm seeing December of this year?? I'm sure it's fun as an online game but I uh... don't have friends, so the AI is all I can really play against, and it just lacks something when all you have are quick matches. Also I find it really funny that on console at least the match settings has one small option... clock time. In the top left corner of the menu. I looks so silly.
About the concede problem: there are facets to it. People who are casual by nature are forced into competitive environment and have no other options to play, as AI is god awful (effectively non-existent), and there is no casual official league in the game atm (all of the big private leagues are higly competitive as well). And then all these competitive-minded people are getting angry that casuals don't want to play by competitive ethics standards. That's funny, and sad at the same time, simply ridiculous. I don't think AI taking over conceder's team is the right way to go, though - again, because it's non-existent, it's times worse than in BB2 even. What they should do is some kind of match auto-resolution in case of concede, like auto-battle in strategy games.

For all its faults I like that i can find a game... bb1 and bb2 i could never find a game online. I just played vs the AI...
I gotta be honest. I did NOT see a recommendation coming for this. Maybe one day I'll pick it up when I've got the time
when you dont own a blood bowl game then buy Blood Bowl 2 even the original Blood Bowl Chaos Edition is way better.

I’ll stick to BB2 until eternal leagues are added but I’m glad it’s in a better state now
better but not good and far away from the state of blood bowl 2

Until they release snotlings I'll stick to II
I loved Blood Bowl when I got this as a teenage back then and I love Blood Bowl 2. I have it since release but BB3 is just disappointing.

banning wasn't introduced until season 2

35:43 You don't have to Alt+F4 to concede. Press the Escape key and then "Return to main menu". I have conceded like that in season 4.
You never mentioned how badly the AI SUCKS! This can NOT be over-stated.
You should never play vs the AI anyway. This is a human v human game.
@@shanekennedy5420 Only because the AI sucks so bad. No need to be 2 player only at all other than lame development/design.
So it's just mutant football league... I had that on genesis and thinking of getting it on switch.
Not at all. It's turn based with a LOT of dice rolling. Think chess meets craps meets d&d.
It's a lot older than the mutant league games.
@@N3rdNetwork I never said which was older. I just made a comparison.
@@dwaynejackson551 I was just adding context. Mutant league has a similar tongue in cheek, violent flavor for sure.
@@N3rdNetwork I have played the board game but the video games have always been more fun.
