  • In this video I show how to cut boat stringers easily and accurately. This method should work for most boat hull types. This hull is a cathedral hull or tri hull so definitely more difficult than a traditional v hull, this video shows how simply it is to do. I really hope you find it helpful, if you do please consider subscribing to the channel and click the like button too if you didn't mind that is. If you have like minded friends, please share the video or channel with them thanks Dave

    Don't know if you know or not Dave but you need a tiny gap between the stringers and the hull say the thickness of a matchstick. If you have them tight it will cause stress cracks in the hull. Bed them down on marine sealant.

    • @C3BFA
      @C3BFA  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ye there's gaps some bigish. I have used a glue to hold them in place for fibreglass.
      Also it shouldn't cause stress cracks as the foam is a lot weaker than the fibreglass hull. The stringers have no strength etc it's purely to mold the glass over if there was a way I could take foam out after glass was set but there isn't a way lol so it's staying

    A washer on a round marker or pencil works a treat for marking too.

    Looking good Dave ,when are you expecting to have it completed?👍🏼👍🏼
    Off topic,but check reel seats on the casting specials,mine was loose and had to have new reel body replaced by Penn under warranty,apparently known problem on some reels.

      It's really hard to say. I'm hoping it will be fully ready by may next year. It could be done a lot sooner tho the boat shell could be finished by August or September. But then I have all the bright work and all new wiring and electronics etc. The only thing that will slow it down now is the budget as it's gone lol and gone way over budget. So when it comes to a rewire it's going to slow down but I may be wrong.

    as the stringers are going to be fiber glassed in does it make a huge difference if its not spot on the the bottom ??

    • @C3BFA
      @C3BFA  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No it makes no difference at all Scott. They are Purley a mold for the glass. Once the glass is in and done that's the strength then.
      But the closer I get the foam it will make them easier to glass in

    If you are into useless information, as for the tool you made to trace the outline, ancient cultures hung a weight on it as a plumb bob to keep it straight up and down so as to make it more accurate.
