For the time these games came out even the campaign single player or coop was outright astounding without having Xbox Live. The massively improved visuals over the 80s and 90s for 3D graphics combined with the audio/music and gameplay was like pure magic, whether alone or with friends via split screen and system link.
Never labeled my self a gamer because you guys are the biggest pssies around but I definitely play a lot of old and new games and I feel like a kid on Christmas. Get your sht together guys you guys are miserable and can’t enjoy masterpieces. You got this !

Halo was great on it's own. But I believe Marty and Michael are responsible for elevating it to mythical status. That's the reason H3 is good too. Marty ran the story beats so he knew exactly when to curate the music perfectly
I'm pretty sure it's true of all of the elite voice lines in Halo CE. Every single one of them is just a Johnson line reversed and down pitched. Even the death screams and stuff lol.

I was the happiest 10 year old on Christmas day back in 04 when my mother bought this for me. What a fun time, honestly. Especially for the online. Happy 20th anniversary to this legendary game. 🎮

Halo was what brought me back to gaming back in 2002, after selling off my ColecoVision gaming console and cartridges back in 1989. Went out and bought one of the first 27" 16:9 widescreen LCD TVs by Westinghouse an Xbox, a 2nd controller, and Combat Evolved for around $2000. Played Slayer with my brother-from-a-different-mother for 3 years every night after work. Such good times and good memories.
I'm so incredibly lucky to have grown up watching this most influential franchise of gaming flourish. Humbled to walk this earth during the same time as The Great Martin O'Donnell. Legendary🙏

I remember back in 2003 we would goto homeroom, then after 1st period my ex g/f would come pick me and like 5 of my friends up from school and we would goto the mall they had this game place that had 3 massive big screens those box tvs that were liek 4 feet tall that just sat on the ground...those! there was 3 of them and 4 couches and we had all 8 of us playing multi=team and it was only us in the store it was like 10am on a Wednesday, everyone was at school, LOL and it was like a couple bucks all u can play, they had like 20 tvs with every system hooked up to them you could play any NES, SNES, Sega, PS1/2, Xbox, you name it they had it! That place shut down a few years after graduation which was 2004. I miss places like that man, and arcades! Everyone just wants to stay home all the time and be anti-social! They remove voice chat from liek 90% of multiplayer games nowdays too its ridiculous!

To me it all peaked around 08. The golden years of gaming, 2000-2008. The curse is knowing and feeling that we won’t ever get back anywhere close to how things were….if wishes could come true 😞
Our clan team name was Iwilleatyoureye back in the day. We would play every friday and saturday. We still love the Halo 2 menu music and its ethereal tone. I'd go to bed some nights with that playing on the tv. Great memories!

Just like any hobby has its Niche audience and "meta" like how skateboarding evolved from parks to street and so on, same for video games Halo is such an important game for me and many of you watching/still playing theres no words that can describe the community and the culture of online gaming back then and i think halo did everything right in terms of balance and fairplay even playstyles like one of you guys said play aggressive or lax either works but to 343 to bungie to you especially Marty thank you for all your contributions!! your music stands the test of time and I still find myself regularly coming back to those epic scores!!!! I think the my favorite part of the trailer was when Earth City started playing at the tail end of the demonstration. Your music is one of the things that made Halo so recognizable. The unmistakable style with the cello (Is it the cello?). Amazing music. I really do miss those days when a new Halo release was an event. Halo 3 was probably peak when it came to release events. The marketing, the live action shorts, “Believe”. Such fond memories.

Just finished replaying halo 2 after prolly 17-18 years. It is like a fine wine that has gotten better with age. Cant wait to start up halo 3 in about 10 seconds lol

Ever since these guys left after Halo 3, it really went downhill story wise. We miss you!
Those were the days. Split screen Halo 2 with buddies, yelling at each other for "screen peaking" ... That awesome campaign. Glad I got to live through the greatest time in gaming

Just finished replaying halo 2 after prolly 17-18 years. It is like a fine wine that has gotten better with age. Cant wait to start up halo 3 in about 10 seconds lol

It’s been 14 years since we last heard a Halo Soundtrack from Martin, I wonder what he would cook if he composed a new Halo Soundtrack.
These were the days, i was only 10 when Halo 2 came out but i just know that these were the days for gaming/gamers. i wish i was more invovled in the day. Unfortunetly, everything is becoming online and digital. It sucks, the soul of gaming is being stripped from us and itll never come back. I get sad thinking about then and now. RIP gaming
