When Bart says “do you see why that’s not logically consistent ? Caller says “yeah, I do” so fast (when he clearly doesn’t understand) and Bart just takes it for granted “ok”. Then we miss out on Barts explanation - of a combo bet vs caller trying to get 2 pair to fold or a bluff / draw to go overtop.

Lol I know I’ve done it with my friends. It’s ok to make some mistakes but we gotta learn from them and take the time at the table to make better decisions from those mistakes.
Caller just has a hard time expressing his thoughts on the game. All the jargon and buzzwords these days can be a little over the top to a relatively new player. Keep it simple when you are starting. VPIP should be like 15% (fancy jargon lol). Dont flat call, position, position, and position.
The caller had a read on the villian. His play seemed inconsistent upon review by Bart. But the caller (Onions) had been playing with the villian for a while and correctly read that the villian was weakish and the kind of guy that would overplay his hand on the turn. The villian check raise on the turn was an interesting bluff (as if to say, 'you're trying to act like you have the flush, but I really have the flush) and the caller knew that that was a move he would make. Good read.
And the villian also had a correct read in that the hero did not have a flush. I once saw a hand in Atlantic City, where two players kept raising eachother, like they both had great hands, and when it came time to show their cards, they both had very weak hands. I expressed my astonishment, and an uninvolved player offered "They just didn't believe the other player. They both had a correct read, but in the end, one was just a little bit less weak than the other.
To me it seems like the villain put him on AK with a club. That's why he lead the flop, because he didn't want to see T on the turn. Hero just called, which makes sense with AK. And then used the club as a scare card to sekibluff. There aren't many flushes in hero range, so villain jammed with enough money in the pot and just didn't want AK to be able to realize their equity. That's how I can see the logic from villains perspective. I'm not saying it's good, but it is something that makes some sense. If that's the case, the turn overbet seems genius, because it convinces them you're getting out of line with a semibluff.
The caller sounds like "the hashtag king", the guy who binked a tourney several years ago. If thats the case, you could make the case that this is a good play, since he's known to make large overbets with hands with draw equity, which would induce villain to shove over the top with a hand with AQ (hero could have Ackx, Axkc, or even all 16 combos of AK, from villains perspective given hero's image). There's a video of cristian soto vs hashtag king on TH-cam for reference .
At the 1:22 mark, I'm already of the opinion that the caller needs a lot of work on clarifying his thought process. Just from how he's presenting the setup and hand info, it's clear that he's not yet using a consistent/repeatable process to analyse and navigate a hand.
Well then. If the villain wasn't a crazy person, I would actually have loved a line like the one he took with holdings of T9cc or 98cc... because hero's PF sizing looks for all the world like AA that doesn't want to lose his customer. Which is why you don't _do_ that kind of exploitative bet sizing in that spot. With the villain's _actual_ holding of AQ-no-club facing a 2x pot bet on the turn? Snap fold. Not only is hero _far_ more weighted towards AA/KK with his PF sizing, but he can also absolutely have AKcc as played on the flop (or A8cc) - and _you don't block any of those_ !! What a three-ring circus of a hand all around.

How is a call fine (w black AA) on the flop when Villain leads with 1/4 pot on a such a draw heavy board?? Cannot understand why a raise on this board with given preflop action isn’t in order?? From $40 to $135 seems so standard. If he has QJ, so be it and you still have quite a few 2 pair outs and the back door nut flush draw. I’m almost always in agreement with you, but this hand really had me up in arms...haha (Sorry if you were simply trying to agree with the caller despite his faulty logic... Like when he said on turn he turned his AA into a semi-bluff because he’s scared of two pair’) -WTF is a ‘parachute bluff’ ?? lmao -I feel like some of your callers include hands that try to make them look like Dan Cates. Also, they don’t include all of the relevant history that can be crucial to the hand. -finally, you ask if villain showed you his hand and he said ‘yes he told me he had xxx’.
I’ve learned a lot from watching this channel but I think Bart was more GTOing this hand than listening to what you said about your history with this guy and the read you had on him. You felt you were good. The reason you felt you were good is because he would behave differently if he had the nuts or a stronger hand. He would let you continue to bluff. He thought maybe he had the best hand on the flop so he bet $40 to see if you raise with an overpaid. You call. If he had the nuts or a set of course he’s checking. The club hits so he checks so you will bluff. You over bet, which looks like a bluff, and he shoves assuming he has the best hand. Obviously this isn’t how you should always play this hand but given what you said I completely agree with “I had the best hand and this is how I could get all the money”. If you bet $100 on the turn he can’t jam but he can raise. And then when you jam he can’t call... good read knowing you had the best hand and nice job getting the best value
I disagree. I feel like him saying “I thought I was good the whole time” is hugely results orientated. The over bet and calling the jam are both hugely questionable plays regardless of what read or history you have on an opponent .This hand is a complete mess from start to finish but at least the caller seems willing to learn.
Not really though… he says he was trying to bluff 2 pair off the hand on the turn and also that he was trying to induce a jam. So his logic is inconsistent. I might buy that it was all about live reads and feel for a specific player if he was consistent the whole time in saying something like “I know this was way out of line but I had a good read on this guy and knew I could maximise value”. Getting exploitative isn’t an issue but not knowing fundamentals is. It may have worked out well for him this time but that’s someone who, without learning, is going to lose a lot of big pots out of confusion.
All the comments echo my sentiments and thoughts. Man this guy had no idea what he was doing. You could tell he was trying to use high level poker verbiage but he clearly had no idea of the concepts and their meanings. The confused look on barts face several times was priceless 😂. But ya props to the caller for putting himself out there 👏🏻
It seems like the caller’s basic read is that villain plays badly against polarizing bets. he overfolds better and overbluffs worse. it’s pretty clear that the caller was aware that this was an exploitative line and not a standard play. whether the read is correct or the adjustment makes sense is debatable but I have definitely made similar profitable plays where over-repping your hand can get your opponent to spaz.
He messed the hand up from the start with the min click and on the turn he scared snd wants the hand to be over. He’s only getting called by better if he gets jammed on! He min clicked because he didn’t want a walk preflop and then compounded his problems post flop. The guy has all the 9T AT JJ. You have enough showdown value so check the turn back and hero on the river on good run outs, Right?
Great call with onions. Love the chat around the turn motivation and size of bet. It was an incoherent strategy but onions explained his thinking very clearly which made it easier for us to see and learn from that mistake. 👍👍👍👍
At the end he is asking if a large pf 3b will eliminate the likelihood of straights on the flop because Bart said earlier, we can't eliminate QJ off because the pf 3b wasn't big enough to narrow the villains range. That is why he was looking for clarity. Bart has excellent logic and understanding of hands but sometimes things just get weird in small stakes games and players make crazy decisions based on previous hands ....
The caller was kind of all over the place, but he got exactly what he wanted to happen. Knew he was good the whole time and was actually right. I see a lot of people clown him and I get why the communication was pretty scattered, but ultimately his instincts all worked out
Lol...the Aq rules off AA and put him on a big hand like KK because he had an A blocker (big mistake) he also thought he could steal the pot because of that weird turn over bet (because who would do that with the nuts?). What a wild hand. AA very lucky the way it played out.
Actually a very interesting hand on the turn.what is the correct play with the AA when checked to?I mean i can see logic in checking back,do we always have to bet here?
Bart is right though, big props to the caller. I'm sure he's miles better since making the call and putting a conscious effort towards learning to play better.
600 to call 1400 pot is 2.3:1. around 30% equity or more needed to call this. Did I hear bart saying just under 2.5:1 which makes it around 27% needed? 2.5:1 is 29% 2:1 is 33% am I missing something?
Im also newish to Poker but what would have been the right play for the +1 with top top if hero plays the same? Call pre, check call flop, check fold turn when the club comes in (or a K/T)
I have strong hand but didn't made anything. I'm pretty sure my opponent has middle pair or worse. However he is a calling station. If i raise he will most likely call. So should I just give up on hands like this?
Hi Bart ı am following you since 2 years . I have some questions; I agree for the prefop action (for the Black Aces,,that is small raise, wrong action for sure but With the turn minclick raise is ok(as nobody with aces and club having will fold) with the rivers also with a jam. Indeed minclick is inducing the villain to fold or a jam
I think what the caller is trying to say when he bet $300 on the turn is that he’s trying to bluff with the Ace of club similar to if he had like Axo with the Ace of club?
I feel like all of the hero's bet sizing we too small and putting the opponent on a proper range becomes very difficult because he gave him good odds to call with every hand... until he made the 300 donk bet. The whole line seemed stranged

Wow, never heard someone explain he bet 2x pot because he wanted someone to come over the top! Actually this illustrates why you can’t give opponents too much credit and outthink yourself-this is 2-5 which isn’t really totally the lowest stakes... so imagine you’re the utg+1 player and you have T9 of hearts and you convince urself with a 2x size opponent must have the nut flush, like ATc polarizing with stiff Ac like maybe AcKd🤦🏻♂️
I’ve been playing a lot of PLO and I feel like hand reading is more cut and dry as c betting sizes at low stakes are very telling, usually, even at high stakes, the c bet sizing is so much more visible to me at least. Just something I noticed. Maybe I’m trying to sike myself out of going back to NLH... I’m babbling... Anyways, is protectionist a word?
Yes it is but more commonly used in economics/environmental logistics etc. But if you’re referring to it from a poker connotation, then maybe... “an individual who continually and often improperly practices the art of protection bets”.
The villain was lying, he got caught repping a flush. He probably had flush draw gutter ball and hoped you would fold. If you didn't he figured he was maybe 25% to river you.

Gto is optimal. Guy played it terrible.
This caller saying he wanted villain to come on him really got me goin😂
It's a good lesson. People (Bad players) respond very poorly to overbets. They also react poorly to small c-bets.
I want in on this game!!!
Where is this 2/5 game?
He messed the hand up from the start with the min click and on the turn he scared snd wants the hand to be over. He’s only getting called by better if he gets jammed on! He min clicked because he didn’t want a walk preflop and then compounded his problems post flop. The guy has all the 9T AT JJ. You have enough showdown value so check the turn back and hero on the river on good run outs, Right?
I feel like so many situations that have bizarre development, usually have a back story or some kinda history between hero and villan.

“Oh boy”
HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAJA
Great call with onions.
Love the chat around the turn motivation and size of bet.
It was an incoherent strategy but onions explained his thinking very clearly which made it easier for us to see and learn from that mistake.
👍👍👍👍
7:26 & 8:56 😲👀 Hero just wants Villain to come over the top, on him...
I see a lot of people clown him and I get why the communication was pretty scattered, but ultimately his instincts all worked out
Was actually just pondering people's donk bet ranges 5:00 in Bart hits exactly what I was thinking.
LMFAO. Bart’s facial expressions are priceless here.
"Onions, Onions, Onions!" That was hilarious.
14:28 that would be an awesome meme
There are weird situations where you can bet the river and get better to fold and worse to call when you’re playing low stakes
I for months now just though the Crush logo was a random symbol. Now I see it.
Caller. Please tell me where this game took place. Thanks in advance
I found myself yelling at the phone as if I am watching reality TV.
2.5:1 is 29%
2:1 is 33%
am I missing something?
anybody have the link to this entire Call in show??
Im also newish to Poker but what would have been the right play for the +1 with top top if hero plays the same? Call pre, check call flop, check fold turn when the club comes in (or a K/T)
Yes, that would be the 100% normal way to play AQ here.
I feel like he does make a good combo bet
I have strong hand but didn't made anything. I'm pretty sure my opponent has middle pair or worse. However he is a calling station. If i raise he will most likely call. So should I just give up on hands like this?
Bart is the best
Barts smirk at the start 😂
14:27 That look :D
The fact you can keep a straight face when speaking to this guy….
decent pre flop 3 bet prolly folds out unsuited combos of 9T and JQ which is a lot of combos.
😂😂😂😂😂 Great Call!!!! Make my day 😅😆😅😅😅
Hi Bart ı am following you since 2 years .
I have some questions;
I agree for the prefop action (for the Black Aces,,that is small raise, wrong action for sure but
With the turn minclick raise is ok(as nobody with aces and club having will fold) with the rivers also with a jam.
Indeed minclick is inducing the villain to fold or a jam
Sorry double pot raise of aces holder,,at turn
I think what the caller is trying to say when he bet $300 on the turn is that he’s trying to bluff with the Ace of club similar to if he had like Axo with the Ace of club?
you do that with AX not with pocket aces
I feel like all of the hero's bet sizing we too small and putting the opponent on a proper range becomes very difficult because he gave him good odds to call with every hand... until he made the 300 donk bet. The whole line seemed stranged
The called sounds like the comedian Dan Mintz trying to learn poker lol
Sppspp spit it out junior!!!
Bet you feel real manly making fun of a dude with a stutter.
No no no, the movie goes, T-t-t-today, junior!
@@xxWh1teboixx Yeah well, the caller is wasting everybody's time after recieving the privilege of coming onto Bart's show. Shit could've been explained in 5 minutes.
@@FSM_Soleran Mark, I do feel super manly for making a joke, and David, thank you for correcting me; I don't get triggered like Mark ;-) The call was a bad one not because of his stuttering or his bad play, but because he took so damn long to explain himself. Props to Bart, he's got some patience on this call, but which he strangely lacks on others that don't have a speech impediment. Bart is virtue signaling maybe, idk.
...And I had to come all the way to the bottom to find the true scum bags who watch this channel. Knew there would be some of them
This player needs to bump it down to 1-3 for 3-9 months then go back to 2-5
Wholesome call :)
I love Bart for being patient here but I don’t think that this is a player who should be playing 2/5 or will last very long at that stake without massively improving
He started with 800 lost a couple of hands and had 1000? How does that work?
Dude be trollin’
Wow… where can I join this game? Lol
WOW. AQ!. Just wow 😲😂
In hindsight, his small preflop raise was fine. He had no problem getting all the money in 😂
Wow this hand was really something else 😂
I'm at 30 seconds 2 ep raise their range is tight I would probs raise to 50 to pop one of them
Holy demon 🤣🤣 he bet 300 into the 3bet and the utg1 back jams, haha I would literally need new pants and would not be very happy with my now thin value pAA
Holy demon 🤣🤣 he bet 300 into the 150 which was definitely a protection bet which should have just been called and then utg1 back jams, haha I would literally need new pants and would not be very happy with my now thin value pAA
This was a hard listen but I always like to hear how people think about poker but wow all over the place
I feel like I just graduated from 1/2 to 2/5
I’ve been playing a lot of PLO and I feel like hand reading is more cut and dry as c betting sizes at low stakes are very telling, usually, even at high stakes, the c bet sizing is so much more visible to me at least.
Why not rais flop?
a victim of "infotainment" buzzwords
Poker is still alive and well. Computers wont kill poker they will just increase the confusion in the people who don't understand what the information is telling them.
When you were gonna go all in on your shave that morning but you though 'better leave myself 2BBs'
Is that supposed to be just the square of hair on the chin?
@@FSM_Soleran Yeah and upper lip haha it's all love though really. This guy's awesome!
That's like when I thought it would be a good idea if I tried to grow a moustache when I was 18 lol.
Geez that was rough.. lol
bizarre.. also bizarre i get AK vs AA and KK all-in pre like 5 times in a row!!
Well, he extracted max value with his aces
