I think Akis should have his own TV show here in the US, there are lots of Italian/Chinese/Mexican shows but not one about Greek food, I tried already a few of his recipes and they came out perfectly! Go team Akis!!!

Yiasou Akis, Found your channel this week and I am very excited. I am first born Greek American ( Family from Siatista). I grew up in the restaurant business. I am also the cook in the family. Still dream of opening a Greek Tarvena someday. This is the first recipe I tried for Gyros. Thank you, I always used lemon but the white wine vinegar was a game changer. Thanks, My kids requested it twice this week!! Look forward to more!!

If you ever see this comment - I just wanted to let you know that this video made me so so so happy when I found it, because gyro is my favorite dish in the whole world and I only get the chance to eat the original juicy tender smoked caramelized gyro when I visit Greece. When I tried this recipe it almost made me cry, I love Greece and Greek cuisine so much, thanks for the recipe and for the humor. :)

Aaaah Gyros, the distant greek uncle of the Shawarma. That's definitely one thing i Miss from Greece. Will try to make this one at home.

My dad has been using this marinade for YEARS! He learned it from the restaurants he worked in and its unbelievably delicious! probably the best I've had. we also marinade our souvlaki in it. Excelent video! Some traditions stay for a reason, keep it up!

I made these with pita and tzatziki for dinner tonight and it was one of the best meals we've had in a while! Homemade pita is totally different from store bought! Homemade are soft, fragrant...while store bought are hard and crappy

Nope I got that from the supermarket, took the people ages to find it. Until they realized it was a dip. I have made that sauce since though, with the cucumbers, it liturally goes with anything

Absolutely, thoroughly delicious!! I was cooking the meat, and my husband said that he could smell the fantastic aroma from half a block away. I didn't have cucumbers, so I made tzaziki with roasted green chiles. I don't think that I will ever make tzaziki with cucumbers ever again.

This video came up in my suggested list. Hubby made it the next day and it was very good. Better than the gyros we loved while living in Chicago. Of course I had to use pita bread instead of bagels to be more familiar. (I also watched and followed the tzatziki sauce video). Thank you for sharing. I’m now a fan and subscriber.
