- This film clip shows in good detail the process of logging in the deep snow with horses. Whitefield, Maine was a hive of logging and lumbering from before the Civil War up until the 1970's. Chester Chase with his new 16mm camer recorded many of these activities

This is some great footage, I learned how they would lift a big log with 2 cant hookers opposed to each other. They worked fast , safe , efficient and so did the horses.
I have used my body hard but now I have to let the horses do the work. Great 8mm video, great time , Great Men.
Love it.. Forward. .
This old film of early logging is of real historical value, really tough job logging in winter.
My father did that in the late 40's and 50's he sold his last team in 1958 I sure hated to see those horses go. We lived in New Hampshire but dad logged in Maine too. at one time he had eight team of horses.
This could be my dad...Donald Tibbetts worked for Chet Chase back in the late 40's
cool
You notice there are no over weight guys here. Also, no one had a large "I" tatooed on his forehead. It was called team work and that's not just the horses.
Hey David I wondered if you would mind if I used a few clips off of your video for an intro to a video I am doing. Thanks
These guys have more ambition in their pinkys then todays people. Also ever notice there was less health problems then, maybe because they got plenty of exercize and they didnt eat food! Thanks for the kick a** video tho!
Thanks David. My grandfather, his kids.....legendary.
No one had to tell these guys to Man Up ....
That's called "Working in the Woods"
