These were fun loving people and dancing in the middle of the road to the car radio was quite a sport. here we see Charlie Pelletier and his brother-in-law Harry Chase strutting their stuff while Harry's son Chester recorded the historic even with his new 16mm camera. c. 1948

This is some great footage, I learned how they would lift a big log with 2 cant hookers opposed to each other. They worked fast , safe , efficient and so did the horses. I have used my body hard but now I have to let the horses do the work. Great 8mm video, great time , Great Men. Love it.. Forward. .

I love that people have done so much work on the background of my family. I do think that it is hysterical that in 2022 we still look at the male line as the important way to know about our history. In my memory of my grandmother, she ruled the roost the town, and whatever world she wanted to be in. When I started looking at the Pelletier side, now THAT was definitely amazing. Just one note that I learned recently. The Pelletiers come from a part of France known as the "land of the tall trees". When Notre Dame burned, there was one place they could go to find the trees tall enough and lithe enough to bend to form the original arches. That was "The Land of the Tall Trees".

In case anyones wondering, what the men were working on was a stub that hung the sled up. Back in the day that job was called "swamping" and a guy could spend several years doing that type of work before he got promoted up to a bucker or faller. Lots of jobs for hard workers back in the day. I caught the very tail end of that period.

He then spoke with the govenor of hawaii (I'm not sure who was in office at the time) I had the pleasure of briefly speaking with the govenor as well. @bogrdstoner420 Like I said, our parade is comprised mostly of true Patriots - people who honor the principles of free speech . Just because someone wraps themselves in the flag or wears any kind of "uniform" (get it ?) doesn't automatically mean they honor our country - sometimes they are honoring their own private version -which is often bigotry, homophobia, xenophobia, terrorism and general intolerance . I suspect they would also disagree with the words on our Statue of Liberty.
