David Byrne, like me, has Aspergers. Unlike me, he's a talented musician, songwriter, performer. He was very influential for many artists. His combining of performance art with complicated lyrics and great vocals and music made Talking Heads a top group. He's an interesting guy.
The big suit was on purpose. He was thinking Kabuki, where the performers have larger than life costumes. But then he found how it reacts to his dancing and went with it. I saw this concert live in 1984 and it changed my life.
This concert was made into a movie called Stop Making Sense, directed by Jonathan Demme, Academy Award winner who also directed Silence of The Lambs. Any song from this concert is a can't miss. In fact, the entire movie is must see for music fans. Talking Heads came out of the 'New Wave' musical movement in late 70s into mid 80s. They are a fantastic musical group especially when they have the full intrumentation featured in this movie. Their albums are generally more sparse instrumentally. Lead singer, David Byrne, was putting on a show for the movie. He generally doesn't wear over-sized suits and he did not wear this suit for the entire movie/concert.
Ah YES! This takes me back. I grew up listening to The Talking Heads and Frank Zappa thanks to my dad. I have great memories of my dad dancing (a little tipsy usually) and using the remote control or a beer bottle as a microphone. Fantastic reaction love. Big Thanks to PaulF for recommending this and for the flashback of wonderful memories! 🥰💖
This concert is amazing. Big highlight the singer coming out in his Big Suit™ and THAT BASS. Love Tina Weymouth on bass. And Bernie Worrell on keys. Check out "Life During Wartime" from this concert film if you want something maybe more crazy good. But prepare for a workout. :D
I'll be short on this one, great song, great performance, tip of the iceberg! You sell yourself short if you dont watch the entire "Stop Making Sense" concert, its one of the best live performances of the day.
I watched the movie of this concert so often in my teens. Still great. My absolute favorite is Burning down the house 🔥🔥🔥 I think by that time he took off his too big coat 😎
Talking heads, yeah takes me back to the eighties. The lady don't mind, Psycho killer, Once in a lifetime. Those were huge hits. Tina Weymouth the bass player recorded also with the Tom Tom Club. Wordy rappinghood is so much fun to listen to
this is there tribute to Parliament Funkadelic they have 2 members of P Funk in band bernie worrell ( Flash light - one nation)and Lynn Mabry(brides of Funkenstien)
Great to see you react to this groundbreaking group! Talking Heads (and) David Byrne brought a much-needed breath of fresh air to the music scene in the late 70's. Original and not followers, they were tremendous fun. Take Me To The River, Psycho Killer, Life During Wartime, you can't miss with any of these and more. BTW, the first vid I saw of Aurora made me think of David... He's more of a performance artist though 😉
Thanks for this reaction. Brings back memories. I went to the cinema to watch this movie in 1984. After that i bought it on video. Watched it many times. Now you should also see Psycho killer from the same movie.
If you have seen Sean Penn's This Must Be the Place then you have seen David Byrne before and didn't realize it. If not, you have something to look for the next time you watch Netflix. Great reaction, fantastic song Highly. So much great content with Talking Heads.
I love the way you react. Please react " GFRIEND " One of the Kpop girl groups with the hardest choreography, and the most consistent dance. "Me gusta tu" "Mago"
He wore it deliberately for the performance.Acts today are not that creative. David Byrne said it was to make his head appear smaller .He was a creative and artistic genius. It's sad that creativity is so lost that younger generations don't understand

People with Asperger’s contributed a lot to society eg Andy Warhol , David Byrne , Lex Friedman , Temple Grandin just to name a few !

David Byrne is a treasure LOL

Loved the concert/movie "Stop Making Sense"! Lots of treasures in there.

Tina Weymouth is mostly on the synth bass in this one. Try Life during wartime from the same concert. Some real funk.
I had forgotten about the Talking Heads. What a flashback!

Funny. You are describing me. But you are for sure not my daughter.
@@nicolaasstein Haha that’s fantastic! I love it!🥰
Love Talking heads and Zappa. I'd love to see someone's reaction to "Broken hearts are for a**holes" 😅🤣

What John said!
Or, indeed, of any day. Still widely acclaimed as the best concert film ever made and why wouldn't it be?

'Road to Nowhere' is one of the best songs ever recorded - it's up there with 'Mr. Blue Sky' and 'Bohemian Rhapsody' IMO.

The suit will always kill me glad to be here 😂
I hate to be obvious, but he has an enormous suit!

Great reaction, fantastic song Highly. So much great content with Talking Heads.
He wanted to know what it felt like to be small, hence the oversized suit. LSD is a hell of a drug. 😁
the bass is super
