Best explanation for ditto ever. I still remember getting my first Nokia phone with the LED flashing antenna with a mini Winnie the Pooh charm on it back in high school cause all my friends had it, wanted to fit in so badddd!
I think the message of the MV is music saves lives. Music helps people go through tough and confusing times like adolescence, depression and sickness. Some people don’t get that idols and music we idolize serves as a guiding light and a friend sometimes. When Heesoo was recording NewJeans, it’s like following your idols music, it makes you feel that you are part of something big when following there music. Adult Heesoo rewatching her NewJeans VHR tapes is like she is going through her past idol’s discography; she looks back to the time music helped her go through hardships in life.
I watch this mv for several times now because i've watched several reaction videos. And I think i got it now. I realized something while watching your reaction. When the boy was recorded, new jeans disappeared. As if, the boy is HER REALITY and newjeans are HER FANTASY. The scene in side b - where she was sitting with new jeans, then she ran away from them when the boy look at her. This scene is as if, she was fantasizing, sitting with new jeans. When the boy look at her, she was caught fantasizing. She's embarrased and ran away. It is as if, she left her fantasies when the boy came into her life. That's why she throw away the video recorder. As if she wants to throw away all the fantasies and now live in reality with the boy. In side a, we saw she's walking home with new jeans. But in side b, we saw she's walking home with the boy. This shows how she moved on from fantasy to reality. Thats what i got from watching this mv for several times.
the fawn represents newjeans or any idol group or even escapism. the girl recording represents us, the the camcorder represents our focus/fixation. the guy represents maturity/growth. everything else can be whatever we interpret it to be, but the end of the side b mv, i think, shows how we are allowed to reminisce on good times, and just because we’ve moved on from those moments doesn’t mean they couldn’t have played a crucial part of our lives, and how we should allow ourselves to value them, and escape from time to time. if you read what the members are saying during the end scene, it’s like old friends (memories) coming back to visit.
Right now the most popular interpretation of the MVs is that it is a metaphor for idol and fan relationships. Where the girl is a fan who has formed these serious relationships with NewJeans but it's ultimately not real or at the very least is a relationship that the outside world does not acknowledge or understand. I think it's very brave and ingenious of Ador to make a concept like this bordering on social commentary. They didn't just try to continue blindly milking these relationships for more support but was instead willing to make an honest portrayal of it by showing how heartwarming it is but also at the same time that it's not perfect because it can never be a real relationship like you would have with friends.
Oh wow, the actress is Park Ji Hoo, the female lead from the zombie high school series 'All Of Us Are Dead'. She had, ironically, just graduated from high school, herself, this year.
i feel like omg was playing in the background when the new jeans members were dancing in the background in the gym. oddly it sounds like mall music. anywho, a great reaction! 🐰🥕💗
I really like your interpretation. To me the "imaginary" NewJeans girls seem like a portrayal of para social relationships, which are especially common in K-Pop. There are a lot of young people out there focusing most of their passion and affection towards idols, who in a sense are "not real". While this can become a hurdle for forming "real" relationships, it raises the question: are those memories and the affection felt by that one person any less valuable or meaningful for it?
But in the side B, those girls are real tho.. those girls (new jeans) are exist in the girl's recording when she was older and looked back at the tape. I don't think this is the plot
Yeah this seems like the most legit and poetic theme. I love how the ending was bittersweet because whilst the MVs show idols cannot replace real people in our lives, it also shows that the memories are still real and will always be there for us unchanging if we decide we would like them again.
@@azurecastellan8345 i see that as she came out of that para social relationship with kpop and is looking back on how the group she loved brought her such happy and fun times. Watching them have fun and dance was her escape. New Jeans is real, but they aren't really our friends, we don't know them.
Lady Rei hello! this is Choco :) long time since I've been here in the comments. i just wanna say that yes, this song is amazing! it's kind of a rollercoaster ride in a way since it evokes so many feelings: some happy ones, some not so bright. The nostalgic feel is so that is hard to shake off. i love it so much. I feel like the song alone is so beautiful but the video just adds so many layers and it's interesting trying to puzzle the pieces together. Also just wanna say that i loved your reaction. I loved hearing all your thoughts and you made some interesting points and connections. Mainly when you talked about Side A and Side B and how they portray different angles and feelings. Lol srry if this is a tl/dr I'm just still mind-blown about this song and MV and im late to your reaction. Ttys ❤️
A theory I saw on another video, credits to them: I saw another person’s reaction to ditto and someone commented their own theory that i believe makes the most sense so ill try to explain it here 😅 this is from Susy Franco i think on LKTV’s reaction btw and Susy Franco if you see this, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR THEORY !! 🥰🥰 EDIT: OKAY I ENDED UP COPYING AND PASTING CUZ I SUCK AT SUMMARIES BUT HERE IT IS 😭😭 “I have a theory, the camera girl went in a deep depression till the point she’s still in denial and kept lying to herself, which led to her to completely lose her sense of reality cuz she lost her friends (New Jeans) in an accident, that’s why she has the arm cast. Everybody is kinda concerned about her, but they don’t want to take proper action cuz, as I know, Koreans don’t like to interfere in other people’s problems and the only person who really wants to reach out to her is the guy, that maybe has liked her even before the accident so that’s why he keeps looking for her in a way from afar. And the new video tapes she first saw in the Side A MV kept showing her the reality she’s in, so that’s why she threw the camera in the Side B MV where everything started to make sense. AND the last video she saw was the original one where her friends (New Jeans) DID appear and is stored in a box cuz it’s a part of her treasured memories and now she can see it with nostalgia cuz she came to accept her loss and is capable to move on, that’s why she is seen walking with the guy at the end as he maybe helped her getting through all of the grief and denial. The deer can represent two things a non-confrontational personality (side A) that happens to be her looking at herself in the white scenario or could be an observational, empathetic, and sympathetic side of someone who could represent the guy (Side B) that's why it appeared in the school where he is always watching her with concern. IT'S JUST A THEORY, I'M JUST TRYING TO UNDERSTAND THE FEELINGS THESE VIDEOS MADE ME FEEL 😭”
i saw it as kpop groups mean so much to us in our lives that they are like our friends but in reality we aren't and they arent there. But we watch them dance and have fun and feel like we are there with them.
my theory is: I think they were real but they died. Heesoo can't deal with it because they were her only friends. She became severely depressed so she kept picturing them and filming the same places they were when they were alive. It also occurred to me that they might have been in a car accident and Hessoo was the only survivor and that's why her arm is broken. The deer she sees is the reason for their deaths because it ran into the road and that's why she sees it and has tears in her eyes.
eh i see it as WE are the girl. The girl is a kpop fan looking in on her favorite group, always watching them dance and have fun. They are her escapism from the real world. The idols are real and make us happy and it feels like we are friends with these idols sometimes. But in reality, we aren't, and they aren't really there or know us. I think her at the end is her after she left that Para social relationship with kpop and is looking back on her favorite group and watching them again have fun and laugh. It brought her so much happiness in a period inn her life. And that one day will be us, looking back.
Too many theories: 1. Her arms got broken while her other 5 friends didn't survive. 2. She's a loner who sees NWJNS as part of her life as a sense of comfort.
I think theory 2 makes more sense because of the lyrics, and also how much the MVs emphasize her relationship with the other girls as that of an observer, mainly watching them through an electronic device, and also wearing a different school uniform than the 5 members.
Yes she's park jihu, in new jeans mv she play role as "heesoo" (the mysterious girl who always recording every new jeans daily life in school) and the boy is choi hyunwook he's an actor and play as cameo boy in here
the vhs to me lets me know they were real, something happened to the girls and her still seeing them through the camcorder was her holding on to the trauma of losing them which is why everyone was looking at her when no one was there. i also believe what she saw through the cam were actually memories of moments that happened. once she lets go or gets through the trauma or finds someone to help her heal ,she gets rid of the camera. these five girls were important to her big moments in her life and also loving to her in the small everyday moments i believe. so when she grows up years later she was able to go back and look at those precious moments without the hurt of the past and really take it in as something amazing that was vital in her life which is why i think that last memory of them being in that room stuck with her maybe it could be the day that meant so much because it could be the day her and the girls bonded for the first time and they hung out and it maybe was a changing point for her. i know we've all had a great moment in life that has changed us forever that we look back on and think wow that moment was so important to me yet the best day ever. i also believe this is new jeans love letter to there fans like there telling them they love them and appreciate them and telling them to ditto. these girls i can tell are very thankful to there bunnies.
Woah I didn't realise that girl holding the camera was by herself the whole time which is why her classmates were looking at her so funny. She was alone and pretending NewJeans were her friends. That's so sad :(
first minute thought the story is about a girl having a crush on a guy. Great, another one of these videos. That let my guard down. Was not prepared for the last half and ending.
I think they are ghosts that only she can see and the camera can capture those ghosts. This makes sense because the other people in the video that are being recorded shows that they can't see the new jeans girls. So those ghosts are her friends that only she can see. OR, she's imagining them and watching the imaginary girls in the recording, but they aren't actually recorded. And as she grew up she was no longer able to see those imaginary friends but she can still imagine them from the recording? Ghosts or imaginary, I think they were her support because it seems like she was a loner.
Upon watching the MV for the 5th time both A and B, I think she made herself imaginary friends because she's alone then at the end of the video we saw her with the boy, she's happy and not alone anymore. if that makes sense haha
I don't know why I thought about this but maybe its about the ferry disaster that killed all those poor kids ... Maybe she survived but they didn't ...
a movie in korea named ditto was released in 2000. the story goes a girl and a guy fall in love but end up in an accident and the guy wears a cast. just like heesoo in the mv. what i think of this mv is survivors guilt. they might have been friends in the past but due to a tragic accident (relating with the deer, they might have hit in a car crash) and all of them died except heesoo. heesoo thinks she should have died with them and imagines them. if you see heesoo's cast, one of the members wrote "don't die!!"" heesoo also gets a call from minji at the end and in part b where she leaves the rest of the girls symbolizing her moving on. you could see the deer in both mvs, and a deer symbolizes a good omen, meaning a guide is watching over you from heaven (new jeans in the story are dead and watching over heeseo.) the guy in the mv is what helps her move on from the survivors guilt.
i feel that the girls here are non existent or probably her old friends who passed. idk, thats the vibe im getting. nonetheless its very good mv and music
