Great video, and awesome guitar-- thanks for sharing. Just a couple suggestions from a 55 year old master woodworker, who has learned many things the hard way, and some the easy way. First, always glue both sides of the wood, and try to use just enough to fully cover each side. . While it may seem that it is not different to glue and rub a single side, tests have been repeatedly done that show that if you do glue both side separately (with the correct glue), that it will always be stronger than the wood (and will not fail in your lifetime in any common climate), while if you do one side and smear, the glue will fail first, and will do so anytime it is sufficiently stressed-- definitely in your lifetime. Second, the type of glue matters a LOT, as does the age of it. Do not keep old liquid wood glue (e.g. more than 1-2 years) around. That is unopened and stored at room temp. If it is opened or in a warmer of colder environment, it will degrade quicker. There is plenty of good up to date information on all of this. Third, NEVER use anything with acid or oil on it to spread the glue (e.g. fingers have both), as it will begin to affect many types of glue within months, and cause several common issues, depending on the amount on the skin or object. Try to use quatersawnfor the neck, for obvious reasons.Your tunability, longevity and playability will be greatly increased, and will not degrade over time like it will for flat sawn necks. Note you can create a quartersawn piece from a flat sawn piece of the proper size.

@@berobujanovi4331 I am a router CNC programmer, I do this for living and already did some guitar bodies for customers. Very posibly my friend, but machines dont have "soul" or "feeling", craftsmen imbue their creations with their personality and love thus giving you the difference between bespoke creations and off the shelf mass produced products imo.
TL;DR I respect and enjoy this guy's craft, but I don't disrespect the use of CNC machines. I really don't understand the hate for CNC, it's simplifying the rough cut and you still need to sand it and fit by hand. Believe me when I say I totally respect this guy's art and also share the sentiment that it feels more fulfilling the more work you do with your hands. But it's really sad to think that just because the process became easier, the level of art deteriorates. Why can't we make use of the best technology available to us to help us create the best work? We went from hacksaws and chisels -> bandsaws and handheld routers -> CNC machines. The first jump reduced the physical labor of cutting, the second jump reduced the input needed to make the cut. I think the innovative nature of humanity to discover new solutions is an art by itself.

Yes but when it comes to art, (both music and the instrument making fall under this category), perfection is in the eyes of the beholder right, so what might not be perfect to you may be perfect to him, like unless the guitar physically does not work, no matter how terrible the looks sound or whatever, it may have been exactly what he was going for

My dream to build an Explorer guitar and this video is so inspiring for me! Thank you!
wow very inspiring
good, i like it! #wayank faithfully listening
this video is EXCELLENT! i think i can now build a guitar....BUT with none of the details and explanations behind the work you are doing i dont really know HOW to to do these things you are doing...or why you did them....or what glue to use...or how long to sand for.....or the gaps for frets...or why the bridge is where it is....etc......since you have 2 million views (almost) why not a sequel in NORMAL speed where you explain step by step what and WHY you are doing what youre doing...i really feel you could teach even morons like me how to do this but i need more full explanations.
Hi Dave! Thanks for your comment! You`re right, this is actually no "diy-tutorial" with wich i`m able to reconstruct that guitar. But there are already hundrets of "step by step - videos" here on youtube. Check out the "crimson guitar - channel" for example. There you can learn every single process from a real pro and a detailed explanation. My english is not the best and crafting is not my profession...let alone guitar constuction...so i gave a rough outline of the way "how to build an electric guitar".
Best regards! 😊👋
@@craftlingsworkshop If crafting's not your profession, heck are you taking your hobbies seriously. (Which is a good thing. Addiction became passion 😂). The gear you have is WAY ahead of what people would call common hand tools...
I mean, a TIG welder just to have that long reach drill bit, just for that one shielding passage?! Those bench wood cutting tools just laying around ready to cut head straight lines in perfect depths? Hahah. Not for the basic DIYers...
another good thing might be to try to find some templates/blueprints of a guitar with electrical blueprint online. That way you'll know which direction to go
Damn. That's passion that turn hardwork into a play
Wow! If you play in a band, I can guarantee that your band mates are jelly. Hell, I'm jelly!
They are jelly while he jams.
Bandit Keith King of Duel Monsters NICE!
awwww Derek, you don't have to be jealous too. If you get off your lazy ass, you too can build something to be proud of as well... Just saying.
How much for your guitar??
