he might be an asshole who said he will kill everyone that threaten peace, (women and children included) but that doesnt mean he want to kill them. he doesnt want to kill flag and Ratcatcher as his last words to them are "Please sir dont made me do this" and "sorry kid"

Reminds me of scenes in movies where a character is surrounded by hundreds of lit candles, as if they took the time to place and light them all just so they could walk dramatically down a staircase past them or whatever. Not to mention they’re never sweating buckets from being in a room with that many lit candles, and the ones they lit first haven’t burned down any further than the ones they lit last. I think Adam's take was uncharitable, especially given the entire first team getting slaughtered and having no signs of being anything but bad guys. but Peacemaker is framed as a villain in the film itself at the end. The others are framed as heroic. And in the "people minding themselves" scene, those characters thought the fighters were bad guys, so their intentions were positive. I think he means how all these villains suddenly care about risking their lives when they didn't need to at the end. Waller would have 100% killed them and they accepted that ultimate sacrifice, then got lucky.
So I think both of you have valid points but neither are the complete picture. I didn't watch the trailers so this didn't effect me much

Villains can have a moral compass, though its usually obscured by their own justification for what is right for others. Though yes the save the day aspect makes them more like anti-heros. Its fun to be the villain in many ways as a different perspective and a rebellion against authority, so it feels relatable in many ways to satisfy your darker thoughts. Plus, many are just bored of being 100% good because it just is overplayed and dull.

That's not the kind of thing _superheroes_ tend to just shrug off or ignore, and it's fairly messed up (if admittedly entertaining to watch). What the hell?
Rat catcher 2 you could argue is a hero but anyone else is kind of a long shot don’t you think? Just because none of them are the specific antagonist in this specific story doesn’t mean they’re all saints. There are no heroes in this story other than ratcatcher. Amanda Waller and the us government are villains, the suicude squad are villains being forced to do villainous things, starro is inocent but still becomes a power hungry villain by the end, the corto maltesian président is a scumbag, How can Adum see heroes in any of these characters? Sure they’re the protagonists of the story, but doesn’t Adum recognize that hero and protagonist aren’t the same thing? Many people would say thanos is the protagonist of infinity war because it’s a movie entirely about him and his quest to save the universe. Does Adum think thanos was a hero just because he was the main character?

Even at the end when they turn on Amanda Waller their motivations stay consistent “get the bombs out of our heads and set us free and we won’t show the world what you did.” It’s selfish. A hero would say this info has to get out no matter what, but a villain would say let’s use this as leverage to get our way. Is it that hard to recognize and distinguish heroic and villainous characteristics? It was all pretty straightforward to me.

King Shark is, well, a fucking Shark doing what a Shark do. He quite literally does not know the problem with what he does, and Rat Catcher 2 understands that because she deals with wild animals usually seen in the same light, so she actually tries to befriend him understanding that he's not malicious, just wild and ignorant.
Bloodsport is someone who was raised from birth to be who he was, and just doesn't believe he can change, thinking all he's good at is doing bad shit, because no one else has ever believed he could either. As such he pushes everyone around him away, both not wanting to hurt and be hurt by association.
Polkadot man is just a sick, mentally ill man that was never given the help he needed, locked away with not even a thought of reform.
Eve PeaceKeeper shows hesitancy for what he does later in the film, however he truly seems to believe what he's doing is for the greater good.
Only really Harley fully stays the same, and that mainly cause she's already had like 2 other films.

I’ve actually been listening to the score almost non stop over the last week. I dig the more intense moments, but I think three tracks in a row near the end fully convey the sense of going against all odds, in particular:
    The Squad Turns Back
    The Squad Fight Back
    Ratism
These tracks elevated the sense of looking for a purpose, as myself and many of my friends are at a crossroad where we have to decide what to do with our lives. The film definitely has themes that match our situations, and in so I really connected with the characters. It’s inspiring to see so many characters learn to fight for a purpose in life, even if it kills them.

That scene at 5:29 with the dog actually really surprised me when I saw this movie. Like the entire 4 second scene is the dog getting scared and running away, but to me it looks really frightened. It doesn't look like it is taking a cue from a trainer and it turns tail and runs. Like that is either an awesome dog actor or they waited for him to get comfortable, set up the shot, then freaked him out. A pretty awesome effect.

Great review. Completely disagree that there aren’t any villains, everyone in this movie is a villain, on a different level. Normies may say Starro is the main villain but the main villain is Amanda Waller. The Peacemaker/Flagg dilemma reminded me of Rorshack/Dr Manhattan dynamic from watchmen, another one of my favorite stories.
It’s not my favorite movie ever, but it’s probably easily like, top 50?

Ratcatcher and Polka Dot Man probably are the most questionable to be regarded as villains but I liked they were there and were both main characters. I guess King Shark to some extent as it seems his personality was just giving a shark actual speech and some intelligence.
