I remember in the comics the Suicide Squad were a "Black Ops" team. They went on missions to take down cartels and battle with mafias and all that kind of crap, never fighting enemies on the "Superman Level" like the enchantress. Sometimes, they were scapegoats, 'cause whenever the mission fails or something horrible happens they get blamed for everything. They weren't battling enemies that can destroy the world or something, only criminal crap too dangerous for normal civilians and too trivial (or not that big of a threat) for the heroes such as Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Flash, or Superman. I think the movie missed those points big time.
in fact, it would have been a much more interesting plot if they were jsut a black ops team doing a heist or something!, or maybe also fight the enchantress, but as an accident, like, they were performing a mission on american soil, but the enchantress goes apeshit because reasons and thats why they have to fight her, that would have been better

Why do they give actors the job of having to intellectualize their parts in movies? They always look dumb lying about the movie to make it sound more clever than it is.
There's actually a pretty good answer to that question, they give them that job because, if they're a good actor and a smart person, it makes it more interesting for them - Like adding your own touch with the character after gaining a deeper understanding, like a twitch, a habit of some kind, or a speech impediment, or correcting things in the script that the actor believes the characters wouldn't really do in the context of the film. Things like that, that the actor contributes to the character, have given birth to great moments in movies that wouldn't have happened otherwise. Nowadays, with shitty movies at least, actors don't do that when the interviewer wrote questions that expected them to, so in interviews where the actors weren't given enough material to come up with anything, or didn't try to find anything in the material given, they go in and have nothing to say and look like a moron. Because god forbid you expect an actor do their fucking job and understand a character beyond a one word description before starring in the fucking movie. What is this? An art form where you actively participate as an artist with a talent and passion for your work? Fuck that. lol Brian Castro... How would that make money exactly? A person not intellectualizing on the character and looking dumb in an interview doesn't make money... That makes no sense.

There was a time when actors were employees of the movie studio and just played parts they were assigned at a predetermined rate, and the rest of the time they just acted as a face for the studio. This was ended obviously because it was extremely exploitative, but I think these retarded interview circuits actors are herded through in the months up to a movie's release is just a little piece of that old shit that just never really died.

ralphthemoviemaker yeah that's such a horrible excuse. Would only make sense if the film was heavy on the characters, and focused more on bringing them to life, even if it meant the story suffering. And while i do think this film gets some of the characters right (especially the actors), this film is also lacking in character writing. What little we do get from the characters, is completely crammed in and rushed. They do a horrible job actually introducing the characters and fleshing them out. So the whole "we just did this for the fans" argument is so bizarre. I can't imagine the people that worked on it were happy with it.

Captain Boomerang is one of the most efficient killers in the DC Universe. His boomerangs never miss, and are typically lethal. He's insanely stealthy, and is highly intelligent. He kicks ass. Except for the movie version.
There is no first act or second act. There is a bunch of trailers and then the third act with an intermission (bar scene). This movie's biggest problem is its structure.
The biggest problem is that the people who own the rights to the characters are getting directors as bad as Uwe Bole and giving them 10x the budget. Uwe Bole could've made a better Suicide Squad movie with $1,000. Zack Snyder and David Ayer are so terrifyingly bad at doing their jobs it defies all logic that they still have them. Flat characters, horrible pacing, THE FUCKING GOD AWFUL CREATIVE DECISIONS. It feels like they're just fucking around until they get fired or Zack is taking so many painkillers he's literally out of touch with reality.
First half of the movie is a compilation of those flashy, overly edited video tributes fangirls make on TH-cam and the other half was the climax. Even fucking Ghostbusters had more competent storytelling.

The song at the end is a strings cover of Motion Picture Soundtrack by Radiohead. The chorus to which is "I think your crazy, maybe" . The chorus plays while all of the rage dialogue is overlayed on top of each other. Ralph's soundtrack to his videos have more of a purpose than the soundtrack to Suicide Squad.

I like how the filmmakers accidentally had a scene where he took away a childs parent in an alley like it happened to him. This could have been an interesting take on batman, with him losing his sanity and becoming as bad as the thugs he hurts, yet I actually think it was an accident because it doesnt have anything to do with how batman acts in any other movie.
If we’re led to believe most of the DC universe is canon in the same timeline, with all these anti hero movies it’d be cool if we got an Injustice type universe where society warms up to government-owned villains to contain super heroes.
And the Frank Miller comics aren't even based in the main universe and mythos of the Batman lore, as far as I know. Which is why I can't understand why the creators of this "universe" thought it was good idea to base one of their most iconic characters (Batman mostly, since BvS is CLEARLY influenced by Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns", AN ALTERNATE UNIVERSE/WHAT-IF STORYLINE) not only on their NON-CANON interpretation (Not the MOST POPULAR, people tend to get that mixed up these days: Just because The Dark Knight Returns is revered by Batman fanboys everywhere DOES NOT MEAN IT'S CANON! It's in a 10 ten comics' list, that's it) but meshing it up with a canon storyline (The Death of Superman) that doesn't make sense in the meta-narrative of the DCEU universe. We literally JUST met Superman in THIS universe in Man of Steel. Forget every other interpretation of him you've ever seen, they're telling us in that in DCEU that Henry Cavill is our Superman now, And immediately, in his second outing, in BvS... He's dead. I've only met the guy TWICE here and he's DEAD? Weird, lame and NOT earned. Thank goodness they retconned everything in this universe (Justice League) to make it all better. *sarcasm* Sorry, slightly off-topic, but this whole "universe" makes no sense. They're just throwing paint at the wall and seeing what sticks, just like with Suicide Squad...and nothing's working. Something that bothered me was that Harley Quinn is wearing a ball gag in the opening scenes. It’s supposed to look like a restraint but ball gags are purely a bdsm sex thing. The purpose of it is to make the wearer drool which is supposed to be part of their humiliation. Maybe one of the guards had a domination fetish but, like, wouldn’t the other guards be like “dude, wtf?”

I watched the theatrical cut in theaters and just recently watched the extended. They're both bad, though I'd say the extended cut is slightly worse. It has one extra scene of Harley and Joker that goes on too long and adds nothing to the experience, it has a few extra scenes of the character bickering with each other as they walk to their mission... and that's all I noticed, if there was more than that, it made even less of an impression on me than those pure fluff scenes did.
It's even worse than that, though, because after it came out and the news leaked that it was re-edited to shit, DC had to release a bunch of statements vehemently denying rumors that a director's cut existed. This was so that people wouldn't wait for an extended cut and see it in theaters. Then, when everyone hated it and it was out of theaters, that's when they said there would be an extended cut, and everyone would buy the blu-ray to see the "good" version of it.
Bradical agreed, it's too obvious, other jokers are scary because they laugh like a regular clown, but they do it in a way where it has a particular sinister sense to it and they laugh for so long you don't know what they're gonna do.
Real actors try to get into the mindset of their characters. "What does my character feel? Why does my character feel it? How does that show up in the way my character walks, talks, and chooses words?" When the script gives them absolutely nothing to work with, or there is no preproduction time to properly work things like this out, it shows in the final product. Jai Courtney's way of acting is basically "say the line the way the director wants me to and move on". Even in Mild Self-Injury Squad, he sucks like a Hoover showroom, but it shows up less because he basically chews the scenery whilst everyone else is just staggering around wondering what the hell to do.
jai courtney doesn't know how to find connection with characters where he can relate to them to have that emotional punch, which is why he fails as an actor.
Zach Gerrity he sucked in the movie and was a weak character and didn't do anything but get his team mate killed and drink a beer and throw a boomerang he was also a bitch in terminator genisys as Kyle Reese
Define amazing? Might be that the directors he worked with on Spartacus were better-able to work around his limitations. I have yet to see him in a feature film that had a director I would call good. So maybe it is just bad direction? But really, I would have to see his performance in the show before I could make a definitive comment there. Some actors are amazing regardless of the director. Some are very dependent on good direction (for instance, look at Arnold Schwarzenegger in Total Recall). Some "actors" just suck, full stop.

They weren't battling enemies that can destroy the world or something, only criminal crap too dangerous for normal civilians and too trivial (or not that big of a threat) for the heroes such as Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Flash, or Superman. I think the movie missed those points big time.

Why do they give actors the job of having to intellectualize their parts in movies? They always look dumb lying about the movie to make it sound more clever than it is.

There's actually a pretty good answer to that question, they give them that job because, if they're a good actor and a smart person, it makes it more interesting for them - Like adding your own touch with the character after gaining a deeper understanding, like a twitch, a habit of some kind, or a speech impediment, or correcting things in the script that the actor believes the characters wouldn't really do in the context of the film. Things like that, that the actor contributes to the character, have given birth to great moments in movies that wouldn't have happened otherwise.
Nowadays, with shitty movies at least, actors don't do that when the interviewer wrote questions that expected them to, so in interviews where the actors weren't given enough material to come up with anything, or didn't try to find anything in the material given, they go in and have nothing to say and look like a moron.
Because god forbid you expect an actor do their fucking job and understand a character beyond a one word description before starring in the fucking movie.
What is this? An art form where you actively participate as an artist with a talent and passion for your work? Fuck that. lol

There was a time when actors were employees of the movie studio and just played parts they were assigned at a predetermined rate, and the rest of the time they just acted as a face for the studio. This was ended obviously because it was extremely exploitative, but I think these retarded interview circuits actors are herded through in the months up to a movie's release is just a little piece of that old shit that just never really died.

ralphthemoviemaker yeah that's such a horrible excuse. Would only make sense if the film was heavy on the characters, and focused more on bringing them to life, even if it meant the story suffering.
And while i do think this film gets some of the characters right (especially the actors), this film is also lacking in character writing. What little we do get from the characters, is completely crammed in and rushed. They do a horrible job actually introducing the characters and fleshing them out.
So the whole "we just did this for the fans" argument is so bizarre. I can't imagine the people that worked on it were happy with it.

There is no first act or second act. There is a bunch of trailers and then the third act with an intermission (bar scene). This movie's biggest problem is its structure.
The biggest problem is that the people who own the rights to the characters are getting directors as bad as Uwe Bole and giving them 10x the budget. Uwe Bole could've made a better Suicide Squad movie with $1,000. Zack Snyder and David Ayer are so terrifyingly bad at doing their jobs it defies all logic that they still have them. Flat characters, horrible pacing, THE FUCKING GOD AWFUL CREATIVE DECISIONS. It feels like they're just fucking around until they get fired or Zack is taking so many painkillers he's literally out of touch with reality.

I like how the filmmakers accidentally had a scene where he took away a childs parent in an alley like it happened to him. And the Frank Miller comics aren't even based in the main universe and mythos of the Batman lore, as far as I know. Which is why I can't understand why the creators of this "universe" thought it was good idea to base one of their most iconic characters (Batman mostly, since BvS is CLEARLY influenced by Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns", AN ALTERNATE UNIVERSE/WHAT-IF STORYLINE) not only on their NON-CANON interpretation (Not the MOST POPULAR, people tend to get that mixed up these days: Just because The Dark Knight Returns is revered by Batman fanboys everywhere DOES NOT MEAN IT'S CANON! It's in a 10 ten comics' list, that's it) but meshing it up with a canon storyline (The Death of Superman) that doesn't make sense in the meta-narrative of the DCEU universe.
We literally JUST met Superman in THIS universe in Man of Steel. Forget every other interpretation of him you've ever seen, they're telling us in that in DCEU that Henry Cavill is our Superman now, And immediately, in his second outing, in BvS... He's dead. I've only met the guy TWICE here and he's DEAD? Weird, lame and NOT earned. Thank goodness they retconned everything in this universe (Justice League) to make it all better. *sarcasm*

It's almost as if WB is running this elaborate scheme of releasing movies rushed and poorly finished so they can sell more special editions to fanboys who claim it's "too smart for you."

I watched the theatrical cut in theaters and just recently watched the extended.
They're both bad, though I'd say the extended cut is slightly worse. It has one extra scene of Harley and Joker that goes on too long and adds nothing to the experience, it has a few extra scenes of the character bickering with each other as they walk to their mission... and that's all I noticed, if there was more than that, it made even less of an impression on me than those pure fluff scenes did.
It's even worse than that, though, because after it came out and the news leaked that it was re-edited to shit, DC had to release a bunch of statements vehemently denying rumors that a director's cut existed. This was so that people wouldn't wait for an extended cut and see it in theaters. Then, when everyone hated it and it was out of theaters, that's when they said there would be an extended cut, and everyone would buy the blu-ray to see the "good" version of it.
Damn. If this movie had more Turkish airlines, it would've been great

Bradical agreed, it's too obvious, other jokers are scary because they laugh like a regular clown, but they do it in a way where it has a particular sinister sense to it and they laugh for so long you don't know what they're gonna do.
The laugh when he's in the vat of liquid with Harley kind of sounds like a slowed down Peter Griffin laugh.
Jai Courtney is AWFUL in everything he's in but he was actually one of the best actors in this movie. And that's really saying something.
Real actors try to get into the mindset of their characters. "What does my character feel? Why does my character feel it? How does that show up in the way my character walks, talks, and chooses words?"
When the script gives them absolutely nothing to work with, or there is no preproduction time to properly work things like this out, it shows in the final product.
Jai Courtney's way of acting is basically "say the line the way the director wants me to and move on". Even in Mild Self-Injury Squad, he sucks like a Hoover showroom, but it shows up less because he basically chews the scenery whilst everyone else is just staggering around wondering what the hell to do.
jai courtney doesn't know how to find connection with characters where he can relate to them to have that emotional punch, which is why he fails as an actor.
Zach Gerrity he sucked in the movie and was a weak character and didn't do anything but get his team mate killed and drink a beer and throw a boomerang he was also a bitch in terminator genisys as Kyle Reese
He was amazing in the TV show Spartacus, which is probably how he got into blockbuster movies in the first place.

Might be that the directors he worked with on Spartacus were better-able to work around his limitations. I have yet to see him in a feature film that had a director I would call good. So maybe it is just bad direction? But really, I would have to see his performance in the show before I could make a definitive comment there. Some actors are amazing regardless of the director. Some are very dependent on good direction (for instance, look at Arnold Schwarzenegger in Total Recall). Some "actors" just suck, full stop.
Ralph is the key to all of this, if we can get Ralph working. Because he's a funnier character than we've ever had.
