Bill Conti did amazing tv jobs too, in spite of people knowing him only because of the Rocky Saga. Conti composed Dynasty, The Colbys and Falcon Crest Themes. That's the reason they ROCK!
It was a great intro but too much like Dynasty. It should have been about Hollywood as it was set in Hollywood. Fallon running a film studio, Sammy Jo sleeping her way to stardom ... It would have been pure Jackie Collins.
Did you know guys iam Arabic lady. When we were kids in middle school 1989 we finished our homework at 8 o’clock and watched this series and slept. Next day in classroom we mentioned of previous episode were with Arabic subtitles. Great efforts from all cast , staff members director , actors , author too .

And to mention all the Dynasty cast especially Joan Collins with the Rolls Royce...
I remember watching The Colbys during its first run and finding it terribly boring. Upon a rewatch of the first season, it was actually pretty well done. If only ABC had given it a better time slot it may have survived. Of course, because of its end, we were able to get that awesome 9th season of Dynasty with Beacham and Collins together, which was epic.
The sound editing of this video is splendid. I carefully listened and the cuts are not obvious at all. And yet, the timing of the whole new intro is perfect!
I just wanted to say how happy I am with this video, I immediately added it to my own playlist! Thank you very much for your great editing and high quality job.
This was the best era for soaps, if not the best soap opera of that era (Dynasty). For some of us, true soap is designer-labelled, powerful and with actors and actresses whose diction and interpretation is impeccable!!! Dear "DYNASTY" and "THE COLBYS slash DYNASTY TWO" ... We forgetteth thee not ... ever ... just as we shall always remember dears Blake, Krystal, Alexis (Carringtons) ... and Jason and Sable (Colbys)!!! Dear publisher Marc-of-Smeyers ... that the incredible orchestral arrangements of these shows would eternally be the soundtrack of thy life !!!
Haha...I remember this so well - they were easing us into the Colbys. TV was so different back then, you'd never see this kind of intro these days. Very glam. This one was so star studded they probably went straight to an ad break after it...LOL
Great quality! Seamless editing! Great job...one of Bill Conti’s more outstanding themes. Iconic opening with the aerial views and those stripes wiping character images in and out.
@@michaeldavid719 It was the other way around. Dynasty had a two hour special. The 1st episode of The Colbys wasn't in need of visiting guests from Denver, lol.
Fabulous definition! great work! specialle the Kate O Mara added ... One of the best seasons! The best tv drama of the world ... Dynasty and The Colbys destroy Game of throns!
Amazing! My first t.v. drama about rich and corrupt families ... Glam and Luxe, sane pervertions and a great ambition ... Fabulous casts, beauty and splendor, specially Joan Collins, Linda Evans, Kate O Mara and Diahann Carroll in Dynasty and obviously Stephanie Beacham and Katharine Ross ... Great work!!!!!
Whomever uploaded this video thank you I remember watching the shows back in the 80s even as a kid I loved all the characters the Colbys and the Carringtons ❤️.
That was fantastic seeing everyone included on there. Although due to Joan protesting the show, many of the other Dynasty cast members followed suit on not participating in the series.
OMG! I remember it so vividly! Back in the days when tv was really GREAT and glamorous and not the shithole it has become nowadays. That was an incredibly enjoyable awesome intro! Bill Conti's themes ROCK!
Having watched _Superman: The Movie_ with the late Christopher Reeve playing the "Man of Steel" this theme sounded like it was meant for a Superman film.
Thank you for uploading this majestic bombastic gem from the 1980s! It brings me back to a time in my childhood that was so much better than today! The soap itself was not very good but the theme was an all star first rate bombastic 1980s imperialist theme and I love every musical note!
This would be the most expensive episode ever made. The salaries all together would be at least a few millions in today dollars, the ad revenue would ve 10 times that amount and the episode itself would have to be 3h long to squeeze each of these characters
Man I remember these shows had like at least 24-25 episodes a season , most nowadays have like 10 or less and then we have to wait almost a year for the next season
This never existed. First of all, 3 minutes of opening credit never happened, not even in the 1980s. Secondly, there was no program called The Carringtons. Remixing and over-extending the theme music doesn't make it real.
This has a dean Cain terry hatcher vibe. I'd like to see Gordon Thomson in the DC universe either as a bad guy or a double agent. He definitely has the acting chops
1:07 "What is your fantasy, Mr. Colby? Or shall I call you Moses? Judah Ben-Hur maybe? Well, you are not as tough as Captain James T. Kirk, believe me. You cannot even match Lt. Frank Drebin."
Bill Conti when he was HOT. Right around the same time he composed The Right Stuff and North and South! I always preferred the more epic opening of THE COLBYS to DYNASTY so this is nice!
This one was too derivative. It sounds too much like John Williams' Superman main title. And it also sounds similar to Conti's Falcon Crest theme. This was over the top for me.
@@maestroclassico5801 - Nah. I wasn't feeling it. There were a lot of great theme music in the 80's. It's really become a lost art. Dynasty was a beautiful theme. Dallas was great. L. A. Law was brilliant. Magnum, P.I. And Falcon Crest's was gorgeous. This one was too much for me.
I prefer Kate as Caress Morell ... It is great choice by the undisputed seal of Aaron Spelling ... Really similar to Joan Collins... I would have liked Caress to travel to Los Colby to discover the truth about the crimer for which he was unjustly imprisoned
Magnificent orchestration. They sure don't have themes like this anymore.
Only Falcon Crest’s theme is better.
Oui pour falcon crest et roswell

This was spectacular for it’s time. Loved this and Dynasty!
The star studded introduction was always a thrill to watch back in the 80's.
It certainly was.
It was a great intro but too much like Dynasty. It should have been about Hollywood as it was set in Hollywood. Fallon running a film studio, Sammy Jo sleeping her way to stardom ... It would have been pure Jackie Collins.
Only one word to describe this theme tune...SPECTACULAR!
Classic Big 80s over the top opulent grand intro...the grandest intro of all the nighttime soaps in the 80s
It’s brilliant how the Colby’s music syncs perfectly with the Dynasty credits, like when Caress moves her head just as the key changes
I noticed that too
This 3 minute intro is like a promo for what life was like in the 1980's
The theme music reminds me of Superman.
The length of the intro as well.
Yes it does.
Yes the lois and Clark theme is similar th-cam.com/video/giTNQ1Q9j74/w-d-xo.html

they shoukd have moved it away from the NBC comedies and it would have lasted most likely into the 90s
First season is much better than the second.
I never watched Dynasty or The Colbys as a kid but I loved their intros. Classic 80s! Epic stuff here.
EPIC intro for sure!
I miss those kind of intros on today tv - shows. Back then you did know all the names of actors but today...?
Full casts from Dynasty & Colbys. Magnificent!!!
I agree!!
This was the very first episode of The Colbys. This was basically an epic soap opera movie.
You know, dear Tony-of-Carlos ... you know?!? ... I mean, what could be better ?!? ... You know?!?

These shows showed sophistication, style and a fantasy life. They were just rich rich with a twist of flair lol.. Loved It❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I always loved this intro, will be my wedding march.
I thought of using the Dynasty theme as my wedding narch and the Colby's theme as the wedding ending.

Game of what?
I Really enjoyed The Coblys. I am glad shout factory released The Colbys to us on dvd. I hope it is still in print by Shout Factory.

Kate O'Hara later played Patsy Stone's sister on Absolutely Fabulous. She was hysterical!!
“Too late to flush her now”
Patsy, I'm 72
I heard Dynasty wanted Joan's sister Jackie to play Caress.
Jackie tried her hand at being a thespian. Having given that up and since became a writer (saucy novelist)...
Ti'l this day, there is no OTHER. theme or Night Soap Opera , that could compared to Dynasty but Colby's theme is on another level.

This is a fan made video as Joan Collins was never in The Colbys she did not agree with Dynasty having a Spin off
The Colbys music sounds like it should be for a superhero movie or TV series rather than a soap
Actually money is the greatest superpower of all

Terrific video, great Bill Conti theme though it sounds more appropriate for a space epic.
Reminds me of Battlestar Galactica ...
Well, it's space related indeed, considering Fallon was abducted by a UFO.
With both the Colbys and Dynasty opening credits, anyone notice the positioning of the champagne bottle next to Gordon Thomson?
Oh, yeaaaaah, baby!
Awesome!!!!!!
Dynasty also has had several characters portrayed by _2_ different actors. On balance, a COOL (fan edit) 🎥!
