Diamond Shots they'd faint at a one on one encounter and reduce them selves to cat fights....lololol...the bitches don't come for you in person these days.. shade combating is just not that exciting in the Insta age!!!🤣
And that is what makes it weaker than their mothers and grandmother’s shade. 80-90% of all human communication is NON verbal anyways. So not counting FaceTime etc. the real power play shade and message is not what was said verbally but how when and what position is was said.
The music cracks me up when she turns around and said ciao for now and then the music starts again when she walks away... loved the 80s primetime dramas!😂
The shade thrown today doesn't even come close. It's about throwing your daggers with pin-point accuracy without losing your cool. She mades it look so easy.
The first time I watched this scene on Dynasty, it had me sitting on the edge of my sofa. What captured me was the ease by which these incredible women exchanged their lines, it was almost magical, but feisty as all heck...✨
Now that’s good shade, “sent for you “, came back with “champagne was frozen in the bottle at some point” Alexis thought she would serve flat champagne and basic caviar. Dominique clocked that ass like lightning striking a tree!
I always think of Prince's hit 'Kiss' because of the line, "You don't have to watch Dynasty to have an attitude," because there was ALWAYS attitude being thrown around on Dynasty, and I LOVED IT! 😂😂 Dallas too!!
Dominique Deveraux: “I really wouldn't know. That is Osetrova and I prefer Petrossian Beluga.” 💀 A nice way of saying, “You can put your canned tuna away, dear.”

That last look Alexis gave was completely priceless it wasn't shade it was just completely explaining to you who you're dealing with in a nice way so to speak that old 1980s TV sitting straight across from Alexis nobody paid any attention to gave me flashbacks of the 1980s some good times in this life rest in peace Diahann Carroll❤

Notice dominique doesnt drink it...or continue drinking it once she tastes it...unlike alexis. Her way of saying "you may consume nasty champagne but im too far up the ladder to do so"
Both women are so beautiful here, a high wire act combining camp and skill. There’s a scene later in the series where Diahann is sitting in Alexis’ desk chair after buying Colbyco, I think, and she says “I just had some lovely non-burned champagne...what a lovely fantasy, and what a lovely truth.” When I was an unhappy kid watching this, I had no idea what racism was, and I never realized the cultural significance of characters like Dominique, or the Jeffersons. I just loved watching all the classy and stylish 80s peeps tv and wanted friends like all of them in my real life.
@Mr. Listener You are speaking on her becoming partners with Blake Carrington, her newly announced half brother in that company not Colbyco. She did our people very proud with that role.

Agreed! That flute is so dramatic and timed perfectly with the over the shoulder parting comment.
A battle of the wigs. Lol. Diahnn Carroll and that outfit tho...on point.
cnote4461 • The big hair, big shoulder-padded 1980's‼️
"Girl don't send for me and serve burned champagne and no Petrossian Beluga Caviar"
Dominique put Alexis to shame. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
Yasssssss Divaaaaaa!! What a key character in the show and such an impact for the black community. We love her!!
These young queens and divas today, might never know where true shade comes from. They 'read' each other through a screen.
Diamond Shots they'd faint at a one on one encounter and reduce them selves to cat fights....lololol...the bitches don't come for you in person these days.. shade combating is just not that exciting in the Insta age!!!🤣
Shade came from Paris is burning.
And that is what makes it weaker than their mothers and grandmother’s shade. 80-90% of all human communication is NON verbal anyways. So not counting FaceTime etc. the real power play shade and message is not what was said verbally but how when and what position is was said.
Diahann Carroll was one of the classiest actors there ever was 😊
She gave Joan Collins a run for her money .
YESSSSS!!!
@Disho Kaur You are absolutely right. Exquisite woman. She really carried that role.
@@harperstacey9604 They both frequently said (before Ms Caroll passed) they both got along as friends off screen too and had known each other before.
The music cracks me up when she turns around and said ciao for now and then the music starts again when she walks away... loved the 80s primetime dramas!😂
They both played their parts very very well. I loved them both.
I Miss those times when I was little and my mom would watch this . I look for these shows on TH-cam just to relive my childhood vicariously
Me too. I lived for the shade and cat fights
Dominique is my favourite character. Classic scene! This is where you learn how to shade.
The dramatic music and head turn... "Caio... for now".... the dramatic music and head turn again💀💀💀
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Graduate course in shaaaaaaaaddddeeee!!
Alexis: "Finally, a worthy opponent. Our battle will be legendary."
The shade thrown today doesn't even come close. It's about throwing your daggers with pin-point accuracy without losing your cool. She mades it look so easy.
What makes this so fabulously camp is that it is played utterly straight. Just brilliant acting and good direction, making pure magic.
...I miss the world at that time. It wasn't perfect, but by far better than now.
👍🏽💯🤗
💯
Yes!! It’s not self-consciously silly. It’s funny just like the office because the characters don’t think they’re in a comedy.
Every time I am low on energy I come back to this to give me life!
Same 😂😂
I love the way Dominique looks back at Alexis and say "caio" at the end giving her the look of "don't come at me bro" is a female sophisticated way
I love the elegance and respect they exhibit in their trash talking. Such social graces don’t exist today
The scene between these two was a work of art. The dialogue was palpitating.
Two very beautiful and stylish women. Great actresses too. 30-35 years later Dynasty still looks amazing!
The reboot of dynasty was really terrible.
@@harperstacey9604 Unwatchable!
@@reuterromain1054 I agree with you. I am surprised that the reboot lasted two seasons. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
@@reuterromain1054 All reboots are unwatchable.
This is a perfect example of pure class. It's BURNED😂😂😂😂😂😂I live for that line. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
"Ciao for now". Excellent closing for so much shade.
“You weren’t invited, I sent for you.” Well damn.
Dominique Deveraux:
“I really wouldn't know. That is Osetrova and I prefer Petrossian Beluga.” 💀
A nice way of saying, “You can put your canned tuna away, dear.”
Law S lmfao!!!! Lawd give me strength
The fact you even know how to spell that...another level of eatery 😂😂
Dominique's way of saying, don't try to pass off salmon row as top grade cavier.
dominique clocking that caviar and that champagne gave me LIFE.
RIP Dhianne Carroll! Our Beautiful Dominique
I absolutely loved the eloquent, classy shade throwing on this show! That's how you read a girl! Not one bit of profanity or vulgarity. I wish we could go back to this. Brilliant!! 👏🏾👏🏾
2:48. It's the delivery of Devereaux's lines and that steady stare and look of sheer confidence for me. #unbothered.
Ms carol was class act miss her so much rip❤ 3:49
Iconic scene. Both of them are gorgeous!
I love it - "you weren't invited - I sent for you."
And born and raised in the US Dianne Carroll who played Dominique was OUTSTANDING in everything she starred in she played Julia (a black and beautiful nurse the first one on TV) and the movie Claudine (the sound track was awesome) 🥰👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾❤️🖤💚✊🏾❤️🖤💚
Alexis kept drinking on that brunt champagne.
As I would too. Shit, it's booze!
She was tryna play it off. LMAO
i just spit some of smoothie at this lol
Notice dominique doesnt drink it...or continue drinking it once she tastes it...unlike alexis. Her way of saying "you may consume nasty champagne but im too far up the ladder to do so"
You comment made me laugh out loud...too funny!
I surely do miss those days.
👍🏽💯🤗
@Mr. Listener You are speaking on her becoming partners with Blake Carrington, her newly announced half brother in that company not Colbyco. She did our people very proud with that role.
Yes. Me too! I loved to watch "Good Times - "Dyno-mite" JayJay so much! And this whole lie about "systemic racism" being perpetuated on our country by Democrats is ludacrous and disgusting! We loved each other then. Now, it's destroyed. Thank you satanic Democrats!
Omg...the most cultivated and best designed Soap Opera ever...the original Dynasty with its Cast is incomparable
In my opinion, dynasty was better than Dallas. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
Miss Deveroux😊Was The Most Woman and Actress Of Them All in Dynasty!😀👏
The smooth insults was priceless! 😄🤣
This is literally-LITERALLY-one of the GREATEST moments in theatrical history. Pure magic.
Literally not.
One of the greatest introductions of a new major character and story line ever. This is what made Dynasty superb entertainment, great writing, great talent, top notch everything. Scenes like this made you eager for the next episode. And everyone at the office talked about it the next work day.
Yes!
@Craig Highberger You are so correct Sir. Quaility viewing.
Only Dianne Carrol could play Dominique Devareux and match witts and class with Alexis Carrington Colby Dexter. No cursing, twerking or obscene name calling but you still felt the heat of the battle. Damn, I miss this kind of sophisticated writing and acting.
👍 I Agree 💯 with your statement. Both actresses, played their part's to Perfection. With both, fascinating, interesting, characters, perfect casting for both parts.
Dominique was throwing shade for days !!!
i love the shot of joan after dihann goes into the elevator and the doors close.. the shot of joan's face ... shes saying "not bad ... not bad at all". LOL
And shes totally saying it with a look!
This is back in the day when a reading was WORTH something. There was so much subtext and color. Such power and grace, this and so much more is what is missing in the industry today.
I wish that I could watch the old reruns of dynasty today. They're so much better than the new TV shows that they have on now. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
Can we please give props to the music? The way the music coordinates with their movements? Lol we don’t have this kind of composing in TV dramas anymore.
I came here to mourn the passing of Diahann Carroll. This and the Star Wars Holiday Special are where I’m seeking solace today. Such a legend!
RIP Diahann, you will always be the queen of shade in my heart
I don't think Dominique threw shade but she was extremely sharp and cut throat.
I am obsessed by her beauty, grace and quick wits...😉😁
Loved her. Beauty and Class. Such Elegance
