Fine. You convinced me Peter. I'm gonna try to button buffer more moves, not just the taunt. Very good video. I don't know if this belongs here but sometimes you can makes use inputting commands that don't exists to get what you want. For example (I can only think of one example sorry) with Bryan while performing run up b+3~f... It's better to input b+3+4 instead of b+3, because if you press b+3 perfectly, without getting b,b+3 Bryan is going to do a slash kick. But running 3+4 does not exist so the game defaults to b+3 and you don't need a frame of b before that. 1 frame of saving! Edit: the b+3+4 can of course be buffered by holding 3 during the recovery frame, then running up and pressing b+4
Hi Peter, one of my contacts made me discover your channel and I thank him so much. I watched about ten of your tutorials and they're so informative. I've played this game for about 2 years and now I realize how I'm bad. Thanks to your explanations everything is so clearer now. To my knowledge, I don't know another Tekken 7 channel providing tutorials so well explained. Thanks for these jewels. 👌
I have been playing Brian since T3. Thanks to you I discovered I was playing wrong. First you help me getting better (green to orange after 1 PYM full immersion month) and now you just opened my mind to a new buffered world. I will never thank you enough.
Damn, really solid video, thank you! I also love that the edits you made in the video actually supported you explanation, like the frame. keep up the good work!
Great Video Bro!. I have been working on this for over a year now. I started from learning button buffering with king to do his F,F * 1+2(holding a punch button after a punch attack) push. Then built on that for input buffering for his grab setups. This video would have saved me so many hours a year ago ha ha ha. It is still helpful to watch you go over it now. Great Video Again!.
This is also useful in some instances that aren't immediately obvious, such as Dragunov and Bryan's combo enders. With Drag, you usually wanna follow up your screw with f+3 into rolldash into whatever ender you want, but this can be difficult after a dash since just pressing ff+3 or fff+3 will you result in other moves coming out. So, it seems like you'd need to dash, tap back to cancel the dash when your close to the opponent, and then hit f+3. However, the other method is to hit fff+3+4. Because Dragunov has no WR 3+4, this input results in f+3. This is way easier than canceling the dash, and it means that buffering either a 3 or 4 input during your screw move is very beneficial. This same technique is useful for Bryan's b+3 ender, but for a different reason. Since the back input already cancels the dash, that isn't the problem. The issue is that you'll often get WR 3 to come out instead of b+3. I've heard that this is because if you press b and 3 on the exact same frame while in a running state, you'll still get a WR 3. But if you press b+3+4 instead, you'll always get a b+3 (since he has no b+3+4 move). This one I can't exactly confirm, but you'd be hard pressed to find a Bryan player that uses this technique and doesn't think it makes the ender noticeably more consistent.
Travis Spence, this is all true. As a Bryan player, I myself use this technique. Also, I do not mention it in this video as there are several videos detailing this. So I decided to show some other characters that do not have as many examples on TH-cam.
As a bryan main Button buffering is crucial for : Transformation ofmoves to grab options Deep dashing And taunt setup for sure Man deep dashing really helped me in executing big boy bryan combos
I don't have an old fashion membrane keyboard. I have an arcade stick. You could also play on a newer keyboard that doesn't ghost inputs and that should work.
I can almost never pull off chains of misery in regular matches. This helps quite a bit. It also explains why sometimes why my moves unintentionally button buffer. At the end of my Bryan combos, I'll accidentally input (1+2) after (b+3,f)
Hello Peter! Once again a very informative video, thanks. I have a request: please make a tutorial on backdash. There are a few on this topic on TH-cam but didn't find them much helpful. Thanks in advance.
Yeah, this is true. I didn't want to do the King example as other TH-cam content creators did that. I wanted to do examples that had not been covered yet.
Can you buffer the dash move when you're performing some juggles or combos? Because I would say that juggles and combos requiring a dash move is the most beautiful and at the same time a painful combo. I ask because I feel that dashing forward for me was so hard. Any thoughts? Or tips. Thanks.
I'd been trying to remember what that one Kazumi combo with the back 4 in it was. I think I kind of do button buffering already without knowing exactly how I'm doing it. Don't know a concept as simple as "holding down a button while doing something else" manages to always be confusing to me.
heya i play bryan on pad....i use r1 plus 4 to taunt...and r2 is my 1 plus 2...i use my thumb for the main 4 butons..so i canot bufer any of those togeather...cuz 1 finger...im doing prety good with these binds...any avice to make my d pad execution more acurate
If you're holding a button to buffer (like in the point in the video where he was backdashing while holding 1) if someone hits you would that be a counterhit? I know that's not really how button buffering is supposed to be used and it was a demonstration of how inputs are stored but I'm curious as something like that could happen if you're trying to button buffer and you drop a combo for example.
If you're holding a button down the game does NOT register as being "actively" press. So if you get hit, it will not be a counter hit. You will only get counter hit "during the start up of an attack." As as long as you are not doing an attack you can't get counter hit. Hope that helps.
I use one more technique which is I called actual action cancel and for example if i ask you that can you do standing 3 with paul immediately after sidestep , meaning immediately after side step can u do standing 3 which is mid and will hit opponent because if he see your side step and think u gonna do ss low 3. If any one can't do just ask lol
@@PeterYMao no sir , actually if u press 3 and 4 together it negates the Paul's ss low 3 and neutral standing 3 comes out, which is safe and mid poke and you can perform it like its a ss move. I never see any one doing it but its a good move to keep opponent in check
@@PeterYMao i think its because of the mechanism of tekken , if you press 3 and 4 together while in neutral position and character does not have move on 3+4 so he will do only 3. For example kazuya , press 3+4(neutral) he will do 3 and now do his ss 3+4 he will again perform 3 and negates its ss 3 which is mid attack.
@@PeterYMao in case of feng , he has ss move on both kicks but even you press ss 3+4, neutral 3 comes out as game prefers neutral 3 over every other move unless character has 3+4 move. Same goes with punches always left will come out unless character has 1+2 move.
Thanks for all of your help peter. This isn't saying so much, but your videos helped me get my Bryan from lower green ranks to red ranks. Question for you. Is micro-dashing a concept worthy of a future video?
Wow! Congrats dude. Don't down play how far you have come. Everyone has to start somewhere. Micro-dashing may or may not be worth a concept. I'll have to think on that one.
@@PeterYMao Now i can finally combine two 3 hit combos without getting wrong simultaneous button press. I think people are more using keybind because you don't need to think ahead for buffering your 1 button for next move Thank you again
Wow... you are the first person to get this right. Stuff like qcf+3+4 -> deathfist is "INPUT BUFFERING" and not button buffering. You're off to a great starter already. Now to answer your question.. things like qcf and qcb motions can not be buffered (usually). The reason is qcf for Paul is considered a stance. As a result qcf+3+4 -> deathfist can never be buffered. The only thing you can buffer in there is the down input for the qcf motion. That's it. All in all... comes down to practice and timing. Sorry bro.

You buffer the button before and only press the button you need on the next portion of the chain throw. This probably doesn’t make sense so the long and short of it is... try it out but it definitely works with Chain Throws
