I don't normally comment but out of all the guides I've seen on youtube, your character guides are probably my favourite style to watch and listen to. You have undergone so much research, video editing, and heck even the designs look clean and professional(that's not to say other content creators don't do it - I just like your enthusiasm, tone of voice and approach). If I were Namco, I would personally hire you to create stuff for the content team in future. My only suggestion would be to add TH-cam Chapters on your video, which may take a little more time but it's something I think everyone will find useful when learning a tutorial with a lot of breakdowns. Keep doing what you're doing Peter, and have a lovely year ahead.
@@lazytommy0 The okizeme situation after Armour King's version of the Tombstone is pretty lousy, though. They actually get a wake-up kick mix-up on you if you land it. It's only really worth using to close out a round or on Forgotten Realm or Cave of Enlightenment. Otherwise, Triple Headbutts is a much better option for a 2-break grab. While it does considerably less damage, you're not penalised for landing it and get decent okizeme.

I just decided to pick up armor king, and I am going over to a friend's house today to play against him. I said I hadn't played any armor king in real matches yet, so he woupd have a leg up. Now I kinda feel like a liar.
Super useful! The only thing I think you didn't put enough emphasis is ws2, which is a 12f mid safe CH launcher with good range, and you can get it from a wavedash with execution
xD there were already so many moves and I wanted to keep the video under 20min if possible. But you are correct. WS+2 is super important too. I did mention it very very briefly after the d/b+3.
@@PeterYMao Sorry I goofed; yeah you did mention it. It's at 1:29. On the topic of that generic mid kick, it's greatest strength is that it will push you away on hit and block. This creates enough space to safely be outside of the range of most 10 frame jabs. So the best implementation of this kick, is to use it after DF2 is blocked. For example; use DF2 to gauge the opponent's reaction. If you still don't have an idea of what they're going to do, then using DF4 will put you on -7 frames AND create just enough distance to be outside of jab and throw range. And because it's a 12 frame mid, it's a damn good tool when used as a reprisal against evasive characters like Zafina, Lucky Chloe, and Eddy Gordo. What usually happens, is that this kick will disrupt the opponent's flow...but at the same time, it's hard to call this kick a punisher because it also pushes the opponent outside of YOUR jab/throw range. So your flow can be interrupted if you're not thinking ahead. Defensively, it's a great kick until you try to be offensive with it.

Peter, Happy New Year bruh. Very good tutorial and right on point. Outside of Mishima’s, AK is on of the characters I experimented with. Now I use all of them. Only to work on fundamentals and game plan, or to use when I want to use a different character. Again, great tutorial and hope u r doing well and being safe.

Hey man! I know this comment is pretty late (seeing as this video was uploaded a year ago) but I just started playing Tekken this past summer (brand new to the series). I’m familiar with fighting games but the only fighting game I’ve really played is Smash Bros 🤣 Just wanted to say thank you for making this! Definitely helped a noob like me understand my boy Armor King a bit more after losing some online matches and what to keep in mind when practicing and fighting! Thanks again dude! Awesome video!
I think Armor King isa great choice for beginers since he is a character that is versatile and literary have anything in his arsenal to punish his opponents! The only skill Barrier that AK have for new players is that they need to get good at the game in general because AK requires great understanding of the game such as movement,spacing and punishing! The thing is you need to learn those things if you wanna get good and climb up and AK is a decent character for that as he will force/teach you to learn the game! So far there are 3 things that made AK a semi difficult character 1. Requires a decent understanding of the game(such as wavedash,backdash,punish) to be played effectively 2. Is that he can’t pressure and dictate the fight 3. Is that he is bad at building up frames But other that this 3, he is a pretty easy character to pick up though there more characters who is easier to play than him like Lars,Claudio or Bob, yet you wouldn’t need to character grind with him like the Mishimas, Jin, Yoshi or Bryan!
That Stone Cold DDT is better than I realised, given the follow-up. I've played King for quite a while but the execution requirements for AK always put me off. Maybe it's time I gave him another look. One thing I was a little confused by though - you talk about b1+2, the shove, giving 16 frames but then don't suggest using the 16 frame kick into shoulder. Doesn't it connect?

And I feel like I can get better at a tekken with time. But still as a pretty new player who still struggles with the game. I wanna pick up armor king. But I dont know if I should until I learn more. Pick the character first. Then learn more of the fundamentals of the game as you learn the character more and more. Wave dash and electrics are only like 5% of a character. You can play solid fundamentals with wavedash characters without wavedashes (it's not advised), but you could as long as your fundamentals are on point.

I picked him up today, and after twenty minuted i found his B4 into 1+2 stunner near impossible to land more than twice in a row in practice mode. Is there something to it, ive tried mashing, trying it at different frames. Its just shy of impossible for me.
What advantage does Armor King have over regular King. I main regular King then I tried Armor King and I'm not seeing it. Armor King's throw game and combo damage are just not as good as regular King's. I imagine he has more energy since he's wearing armor so obviously he'll be able to take more hits.
Do you get 80-90 damage on a combo without walls off of a hopkick as King? Armor King can do this reliably. Does ding's 13 frame punisher consistently punish Bryan's 3+4 on block? Armor King can do this reliably. There are a lot of difference between the two, and it would take some work on your part to compare the differences.
King is all around a better character, if you're that interested in tier lists. Regular king has better Oki off of throws, better pressure and more often than not his versions of AK's moves are straight up better (take shove, for example). Also, AK lacks power mids such as King's ff1. With that being said, AK's whiff punishment is a lot better because of dark upper. Mind you, that doesn't really make up for the character's weaknesses, but it's still a really good move. Also, AK is just too cool, design wise. On a side note, his armor doesn't actually matter lol. HP is standardised in tekken, so every character has the same amount of health
Frame Data is not incorporating the extra 3 frames it requires to do f,n,d,d/f. When you're doing it from block the fastest it can come out is 14 frames.

Man Tekken 7 is the first Tekken I "seriously" wanna get into, after only playing Tekken 2 as a kid with my dad. Armor King felt like the natural choice for my main after realizing my childhood hero King is extremely throw dependent and Yoshi is just well... Yoshi (love the guy nontheless). AK just feels so natural to me and even tho I really suck at Tekken as a Smash bros guy I, I can't help but feel at home with Armor King. Love the unique feeling moveset, character design and story
As of now, I don't know enough about Lei to do a proper tutorial on him. As a content creator, I'm human too, I don't know all the match ups in the game. I get beat by Lei a lot :(

STONE COLD DDT I'm a new player and this helped a lot. I loved watching JDCR play AK (when he still was) and AK is objectively one of the coolest looking characters. Question: what would you say AK's game plan is and what buffs would he need to become tournament viable? I'm a long way from tournaments lol but I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the matter. People say he's lacking in plus frames and has a weird hitbox.
To be honest if they improved his side step I think that'd enough. Season 4 was quite good to him, his consistency was made better, and the changes to ff2 and his throws helped his tracking and mids

Of course tombstone gives a lot of damage, it break your neck and that probably hurts very bad 😅
But there are some other crazy throws that deal less damage :(

It's way too slow at i18, linear and does no dmg unless you get a CH.

for giant swing. f, b, db, d, f+1 works. also f, b, db,df, f+1. but most interestingly is f, db, d, df, f+1 gives the animation of a wavedash

Man Tekken 7 is the first Tekken I "seriously" wanna get into, after only playing Tekken 2 as a kid with my dad. Armor King felt like the natural choice for my main after realizing my childhood hero King is extremely throw dependent and Yoshi is just well... Yoshi (love the guy nontheless). AK just feels so natural to me and even tho I really suck at Tekken as a Smash bros guy I, I can't help but feel at home with Armor King. Love the unique feeling moveset, character design and story

Was always my fav from trekked 2 still wish there was a way to play TTT2 on pc or next gen consoles as he shined in that.

I'm a new player and this helped a lot. I loved watching JDCR play AK (when he still was) and AK is objectively one of the coolest looking characters.
Question: what would you say AK's game plan is and what buffs would he need to become tournament viable? I'm a long way from tournaments lol but I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the matter. People say he's lacking in plus frames and has a weird hitbox.
To be honest if they improved his side step I think that'd enough. Season 4 was quite good to him, his consistency was made better, and the changes to ff2 and his throws helped his tracking and mids

What would you say is his general game plan? From everything else I've seen, it seems like he's a very Mishima-esque dude and focuses on whiff punishing and throw mixups - anything else?

@@bazza3664 alot of his tools force your opponent to make a hard decision to escape bad situations, and ak wants to force those situations and punish his opponent for making the wrong choice

1 = square
2 = triangle
3 = X
4 = circle
