Hi, it's David Paul Meyer, director of the Daily Show. I just wanted to say that it was a real thrill getting to direct this performance. I remember watching Vampire Weekend in 2008 perform M79 on SNL, and how I became an instant fan. Now, I play VW's music for my kids, and they love it too. That's what's so special about great music. So yeah, this was a dream gig. I also want to say that this would not be possible without the remarkable efforts by staff and crew at The Daily Show who go above and beyond every single day to create these special moments. It's an honor to get to work with such talented people. I know the internet is not a great place for being earnest and heartfelt, but figured I'd put this out there anyways.

That's because he's just one step below autotune. But still, he's really talented.
Props to the sound team on the Daily Show. Way better sound quality than most talk shows.
The sound engineer loves VW for sure!
One of greatest examples of a band getting better as the time goes on. One of the best of my generation. They haven't missed yet.

Ya Hey is way behind of this lol. This track is up there with Step and Hannah Hunt.

Vampire Weekend sounds simultaneously fresh and nostalgic, even after nearly 2 decades. Their songs make me feel like I'm reading a classy book under the shade of a tree on some new Ivy campus on a cool day in late spring. Sweaters, lemonades, tennis, youth.
There is a very specific feeling to reading these comments and realizing.. all vampire weekend fans feel the same exact way about them. We’re all living our life, evolving, through the soundtrack of this band… life has a funny way of connecting us threw invisible ties.
I agree. It's almost like a secret club. I know better than to get too revved up over them with friends and family with no real understanding. But for those who recognize their magic....few words are necessary. And being in an arena surrounded by all the likeminded people for their live performances is truly unforgettable.
That's one of the best live performances I've ever seen. Mindblowing!

I’ve been waiting 43 years for something new, not just more RnR or pop. When you grow up with the best music written in my life, at some point it’s just more of the same. Ain’t nothing I’ve heard in the past 40 years tops CSNY, Starship, Heart, YES, Ronstadt, etc!!
@@DeesBees85 this is untrue - what you have stated is not indicative of no AutoTune. As someone who has a Degree in Audio Production and has worked in the field for 5+ years in a live music context, I am 99% sure that this has been tuned in post-production, or they have employed a real time autotune in their live show setup. No this does not make him a bad singer, or a cheat. Nearly every professional live show that you can currently see uses the same method

Probably best I wasn’t in the audience to view this in person, I almost fainted when the choir started. I’m not leaving til I hear Mary Boone when I see them live in Indy. This is one of their strongest releases in a while

I often forget how much I like Vampire Weekend. They're not on my playlist, but I always enjoy their songs when I stumble upon them.
Seeing them with my two teenaged daughters in Vancouver, BC mid June at outdoor concert. So stoked. Been a top 5 for me since my introduction to them with contra.
