Quick way to tell a standard XL12 from a Super XL12 is the Super will have oil fill forward of handle. You have standard XL12 54cc and a super XL12 58cc
Not always outo oiler. Someone has changed the sides. They are interchangeable tricking you between the two models. Super has oil fill in front of handle, like I mentioned
Hello! I need help, by tapping he takes out pulleys to remove the disc from the electromagnet. I have bent the thread a little and now the nut doesn't fit. Do you know what type of thread it is? I have bought standard and fine Whitworth dies and they don't work, I think the Whitworth ones don't have the same thread pitch, thanks in advance. A greeting from Spain!
Love these old Homelites. They are beasts. Just keep going. I like the long videos on revivals as I like to play at my bench also and can follow along if I don’t know something

She came around and fires up third pull cold and first pull warm, it's a very happy saw. But the blue one, ill be doing a full tear down and rebuild seires on it and it will be getting crank seals so thanks for the info on those.
After the video I played with it more (because why not) and all seems fine and happy. Fires up third pull cold, revs right up cold and warmed up. Its a very happy saw.
Good saws-well made -easy to start-reliable--Like mine with a bow!!

The thing is all three say Super XL on them despite having those differences so that's what is confusing me. All are auto oilers too.

Cranks seals in the 58cc are common 6119 or 6120.

How well does your exhaust vent system work?
I have a video I made a few weeks back on me making it that will explain and show it better. It works great and I'll be improving it as needed.
Nice job!
sounds like a possible crank seal air leak?
