    Thank you. I got one, but couldn't make it work till I viewed your video. I tried to read the instructions. They are writen by a Chinaman who got hold of an English dictionary, tore out random pages, pinned them to a board and threw darts at them. He then compiled the instructions by stringing together all the words that the darts landed on.

    Have installed 2 Chinese heaters 5Kw in caravans. After 3 years I am completely satisfied. My caravan heats up quickly. After a year I had to replace the fuel hose that comes with it, a silicone hose. Bought a 3mm hydraulic hose white and from the tank that is installed in the trunk along the front to the heater along the back, the distance is 6m. It is important not to use the silicone hose that comes with the purchase, it cannot withstand diesel and cold/winter and starts to crumble. Then at the joints to the tank, pump, heater you use black reinforced fuel hose that you use in cars.
    Have tested the heating last winter when it was -11 degrees outside, took 30 minutes to get 18 degrees plus in the caravan. I don't usually prime the heater and if you have fuel in the tank, no priming is required. Also buy better hose clamps that last. Remember to be careful during the installation and in my case it usually takes 5-6 hours depending on the caravan type, you should also run the power cable directly from a battery with the right area depending on the cable length, as well as a fuse on the battery's + pole. Used to free camp and has 2 100W solar panels with 230V inverter and never run out of power. In addition, you avoid using LPG.

    Hi, I've just bought my first CDH, and have plans for extracting as much energy from the fuel as I can. I have designed the outline plan for a heat exchanger, so I'd like to know typical maximum and minimum temps for air inlet and outlet. Many folk on YT show them shining their I/R thermometers at the aluminium heat-extractor, but what I need is typical air temps away from the ali casting. Cheers!

      Hi Steve ... glad you found the videos useful. That particular one I bought about seven years ago off of ebay was quite simply an unbranded heater shipped out by a box shifter who put all the other bits and pieces together and has absolutely no branding on it at all. However, being the nerd I am aI took it to bits and found some labels inside most of which were just inspection labels but I did find one that was the name of the company. I went I went on their website ... they were actually mostly serving the Chinese military! I think I had a bit of good luck on that one because they claim to have Conformité Européenne (CE) and showed a picture of their certification on their website. Initially, I was sceptical but I found the name of the company on the Conformité Européenne register, downloaded the certificate and sent it to the certification body which confirmed that they had validated that machine to Conformité Européenne standards. One thing to be aware of if you're looking for a timer is that although you can set a turn-on and turn-off time, it only operates for one cycle. You have to set it every day which is a real pain sometimes.

It turned out that the big multi plug was not very good and I cleaned up the contacts and everything was fine after that... for about a year.. No, you can switch the power off but you will just lose any time settings you have set on your clock. In fact, I have an isolation switch on mine and I shut the power off completely when I'm not using the heater. I don't care about losing the time because I have plenty of clocks in my phone!. Actually, it's not a bad thing to do because those LCD displays tend to fade over time if they're powered up all the time. If you do go down that route though make sure the isolation switch cannot be accidentally triggered when the heater is on full chat as these heaters need to go through a proper cooldown mode before they are switched off.

    • @campervan_hackers
      @campervan_hackers  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Once you've got it going it should not make any difference because unless you leave the heater for a long time unused the fuel just stays in the line. There have been some people in the forums that do say if they leave their heater for a long time fuel does creep back past the pump but I've never experienced this. Occasionally it might fail to fire first time if I have not used it for a long time and I get an E-8 but it will usually fire the second time. The important thing is knowing when to prime but also when not to prime as indicated in the video because you can easily flood the chamber.

      On that particular controller you cannot. I've certainly done that but if you do so be careful to mount it in a way that you don't accidentally turn it off when it's running because the heater really needs to go through a full shutdown cycle when closing down.

      Hi... that code is usually associated with undervoltage. Ensure that your battery is fully charged and also healthy. The heater draws quite a bit of juice on start up and the battery needs to be able to deal with those first 3 or 4 minutes while the glow plug is alive. If your heater is in a vehicle you could try starting the engine that charges the battery you are using whilst you do the startup. Finally some of the generic heaters have cables that are a bit thin for any distance and you might want to swap those out to something a little bit thicker.
