Thank you for the tutorial. This is my first real gimbal, I had a Smove for a hot minute before it went haywire. But this is on a whole other level. Very in-depth but not so much that it was overwhelming. Two thumbs up!
Hello Mamo, thank you for your detailed test report. What I notice with my M6 gimbal is that I can hear the motor noise from the gimbal on the shots. Is this normal? With your recordings I have at least not noticed it. Did you use an external microphone?

I was only got mine today and experiencing an overheat problem constantly . What can cause that ? I have the latest firmware on and everything so shouldn't be any problem and brand new from the home site So what should do ?
I don't know if I should get this with or without an AI sensor because, in my country, without an AI sensor, it's $50 cheaper. Which one do you think I should get?🤔

I'm on my second m6 in a week span!! They both have an issue with the lock button, it will not stay in the unlocked position. On it rotates a full 360 it automatically locks back. Any suggestions?
Ow wait, I missed the part in the video. It has 2 methods to do so. That's actually pretty neat. I saw some one else a video, he said it needs manual adjustment
If you want proper stabilisation, yes. Every gimbal works like that. Unless you never pack away it and keep the settings the same. Still some adjustments arebalways required

@@JimiCeleste yes you can. You just adjust the iphone to the cable insert area then make sure the gimbal is balanced. If not, then you simply rebalance it. There are lots of other videos showing this
I suggest you change the thumbnail image of this video. I watched this last year and thought it was helpful, then I went back today to find it again and was searching for that one guy who was helpful and couldn't find your channel. The way it is now, it looks like a video for skaters who'd risk losing their phone by attaching it to the front of their board, not the great tutorial you prepared for everyone. I suggest a photo of you, the orange top would make this video immediately recognisable and it'd show it's for everyone, not a niche group only. Otherwise thank you for the video, it's really good

New subscriber here! Great tutorial. Hohem does not provide good instructions, so thank you. How do you recommend adding an external microphone? I have a sennheiser mke 200 mini shotgun. Can it be attached on the side of the handle where there is a place to screw something in….its right above the usb charging port. But to control audio this can’t be done in the Hohem app correct? I’d need filmic pro app or something similar?
I think I need to watch 12 more of these videos because it’s not clear what balance looks like. My screen is telling me information and the thing is beeping.
Great tutorial. In the portrait mode the gimbal doesnt balance larger phone. The motor at the bottom doesn't let me balance my phone. I bought it though.

Hi, super clear guide...until, i've seen so what this gimbal doesn't account for is that you can't actually attach an external lav mic anywhere to the gimbal. Feeling like I've just wasted my money :( Are there any kind of mics you recommend that will work with this? The actual mic area of the iPhone is covered by the gimbal :(
Thank you for this simple walkthrough. I have a much more robust Weebill 3 for Beastgrip Pro use with an anamorphic lens, but you have proven that this Hohem gimbal can be a wonderful alternative! I have had mine for a couple of weeks and it is by far the very best solution for portrait video. Thanks!
Are there any gimbals that do not have any intrusive app permissions or user agreements? I just ordered the M6 but when I downloaded the app and read the user agreement there is no way I would agree to use the app. Its disappointing cause this seemed like one of the few gimbals that support andriod well, instead of iphone focused. My understanding online was that you didnt have to use this app and could just use 3rd party but no one had mentioned firmware updates til I saw your video. Can I use this gimbal as basic stabilization etc and not worry about activating it with the app? Thx

This is a great tutorial. I've had my iSteady M6 for about 4 days now and although it is nice and premium gimbal, I have mixed feelings about it. About 3 weeks ago I purchased the Aochuan Smart X Pro. It is my first gimbal. It is so easy to use. But when I heard about this Hohem, I thought let me buy it and return my Aochuan so that way I do not have upgrade later. I've been having some trouble with it in portrait/vertical position. I feel I am not getting the full functionality of the 360 degrees. I have a very thin bumper case on my phone and I hate that I have to remove it for it to work perfectly. It does still work with my bumper case on but it is not 100% secured into the slots. I also have a wireless microphone that I use so I plug in the receiver into the USB-C charging port on my Samsung. In portrait/vertical position it does not work very well. I am able to get full use pretty much if it is in horizontal/landscape position. I do not like how I have to turn the phone holder in order to use it in horizontal/landscape position. For paying so much money for a top gimbal this is just a bit stupid to have to do that. On my Aochuan it is so easy to use and I just have to tap 2 buttons and the gimbal changes from horizontal to vertical position. The only thing the Aochuan cannot do is move 360 degrees. Not sure which one I will keep and which one I will return.
Let us know your choice. I also had issues when I bought their V2. I had to return it because of jitter problems, returning the phone back to center was always a problem, and the phone mount was way too tight for inserting my phone which almost caused me to drop the gimbal several times. I loved the AI sensor but it just wasn't ready for primetime IMHO.

Thank you so much. I have had this gimbal more than 6 months and couldnt use it because I couldnt even balance my phone. I had watched so many videos and none of them helped. So tonight I went back on youtube and went through even more videos looking at the cimments to see if people had been successful and when I saw your comments I played the video. Im still at very early stages but tonight I have managed with your video to balance my phone and calibrate the gimbal. I will be referringvti your video all the time now as I learn how to use it.

@@MamoAir Thanks. I also want to mention that today I mounted the phone without unlocking the roll axis but thr gimbal was switched off. Before switching on the gimbal I unlocked the roll axis though. Would this damage the gimbal?
Great, that does not damage the gimbal. As long as the gimbal is off you can do whatever you want. The damage occurs when the phone is not properly balanced or when you turn on the gimbal with the locked axis.@@ananthrao3180
@@MamoAir, I saw Luke and Phillip both use DJIA3, GP10, and Insta360 action cams. Since you do fast action, probably need to secure it down with a velcro strap. And since the AI module is attached to the phone clamp and you can use hand gesture, these action cams or small cams can still be used. I also have a metal frame shape of a phone that can add on action cams to mimic a smartphone and be used as if on on this gimbal but adds more weight. The 1/4” female screws can use used as counterweights in the above use cases to balance the gimbal. Will you do a comparison review with the new release of the Insta360 Flow gimbal with this one?
Up to this date I have always used DJI products (drones, Ronin, Mobile) but after doing a lot of research I decided to buy the M6 to use with my iPhone for a specific purpose. I came across your video and found it to be very helpful indeed and I must say that I am very impressed with this phone gimbal. I just wish there was a 'tone' when starting/stopping video recording but other than that I am looking forward to using this premium product from Hohem. Thanks! Very helpful in learning to use. I decided to forgo the app- this gimbal works well without it. Only thing I can't do, that I wish I could, that can be done with app is changing A->B transit time. I should also note that without the app, only the shutter release function of the shutter button works (zoom does not).
It was really unfortunate for me to return this after the 15 minutes of using my s23 ultra on it. One of the motors was really hot, and the gimbal itself turned off a few times with a over heating warning. I don't think it can carry heavy smartphones for a certain period of time.

I've spoken to MANY creators using this with their S23 Ultras and not one of them has had this issue. It's got a massive 400 gram payload limit so I assure you, it's NOT the weight of your S23 Ultra. You returned a damaged gimbal, should've gotten a replacement.

Look up on YT. A dude did just this with a DJI action cam and the AI sensor can be used to track. I placed my order yesterday specifically because it can hold a GoPro/Action Cam.

Yes you can. There are thread mount areas where you could add a mic, external LED lights, extension arms, etc. Check out other reviews that show this.

No. You DO NOT GET AI light sensor in the box. IT ONLY COMES with KIT version. Regular, cheaper version does not include this light.

I had to return it because of jitter problems, returning the phone back to center was always a problem, and the phone mount was way too tight for inserting my phone which almost caused me to drop the gimbal several times. I loved the AI sensor but it just wasn't ready for primetime IMHO.

So tonight I went back on youtube and went through even more videos looking at the cimments to see if people had been successful and when I saw your comments I played the video. Im still at very early stages but tonight I have managed with your video to balance my phone and calibrate the gimbal. I will be referringvti your video all the time now as I learn how to use it.

- and locking the axis (2 taps the second tap is hold) 19:19
Hello there. Thanks for checking the video. To answer your question, in sport mode the pan and tult axis still move but react faster than normal mode. In Lock mode no axis are moving and the camera will keep facing the original direction. Hope it helps.

Can I use the gimbal without unlocking pan axis?
Hi. Nope. You need to unlock all the axis before using the gimbal or you will break it. Hope it helps
@@MamoAir Thanks. I also want to mention that today I mounted the phone without unlocking the roll axis but thr gimbal was switched off. Before switching on the gimbal I unlocked the roll axis though. Would this damage the gimbal?
Great, that does not damage the gimbal. As long as the gimbal is off you can do whatever you want. The damage occurs when the phone is not properly balanced or when you turn on the gimbal with the locked axis.@@ananthrao3180

@@MamoAir, I saw Luke and Phillip both use DJIA3, GP10, and Insta360 action cams.
Since you do fast action, probably need to secure it down with a velcro strap.
And since the AI module is attached to the phone clamp and you can use hand gesture, these action cams or small cams can still be used.
I also have a metal frame shape of a phone that can add on action cams to mimic a smartphone and be used as if on on this gimbal but adds more weight.
The 1/4” female screws can use used as counterweights in the above use cases to balance the gimbal.
Will you do a comparison review with the new release of the Insta360 Flow gimbal with this one?

Up to this date I have always used DJI products (drones, Ronin, Mobile) but after doing a lot of research I decided to buy the M6 to use with my iPhone for a specific purpose. I came across your video and found it to be very helpful indeed and I must say that I am very impressed with this phone gimbal. I just wish there was a 'tone' when starting/stopping video recording but other than that I am looking forward to using this premium product from Hohem. Thanks! Very helpful in learning to use. I decided to forgo the app- this gimbal works well without it. Only thing I can't do, that I wish I could, that can be done with app is changing A->B transit time. I should also note that without the app, only the shutter release function of the shutter button works (zoom does not).

It was really unfortunate for me to return this after the 15 minutes of using my s23 ultra on it. One of the motors was really hot, and the gimbal itself turned off a few times with a over heating warning. I don't think it can carry heavy smartphones for a certain period of time.

I returned mine for the same reason, I used my iPhone 14 pro max. The replacement item I got works absolutely fine! So it must’ve been a bad motor.
I've spoken to MANY creators using this with their S23 Ultras and not one of them has had this issue. It's got a massive 400 gram payload limit so I assure you, it's NOT the weight of your S23 Ultra. You returned a damaged gimbal, should've gotten a replacement.
An S23 Ultra, with a case, is 293 grams. 107 grams under the limit.

Look up on YT. A dude did just this with a DJI action cam and the AI sensor can be used to track. I placed my order yesterday specifically because it can hold a GoPro/Action Cam.
