Happy Sunday everyone! Mercedes-Benz just announced pricing on the GLS 580 trim and it starts at $97,800 or about $2,000 more than the previous generation. We still don’t know the final pricing of the one from the video or the fuel economy information but once they announce that, we will be sure to update this. The Hyundai Palisade video will be posting at midnight so stay tuned for that video as well!
Thank you I'll be waiting on that palisade review !!! Great video as always, question when would you be doing the 2020 VW Touareg video ? And when I mean Touareg I mean the TDI V8 R-Line 😎
As long as you don't touch anything, sure. It looks fancy, but Audi and BMW beats merc in interior materials and build quality and there are no plastic creaks when you drive over bumps. Even s class just rattles and dealer told me it's normal. Every carwow reviews on multiple mercs also said same thing, it's nasty and not on pair with other Germans
@@agreatd this is also the case in my experience (new C300). Best in class looking interior, but full of rattles (unacceptable for any new car, let alone a luxury car) and not always the best quality to the touch.
Mr2pint, exactly. A lot of people just see videos and pics and think that Mercedes is the best. However in person you’ll notice that BMW actually uses the best materials overall.
Just ordered one to replace our present GLS 550. 22in rims and E active body control! Now the waiting game starts :) For me the new interior, the up to date MUBX system and the much more accommodating middle row with seats that move fore and aft were the deciding factors. These changes have added a significantly higher level of passenger utility over the previous version. The interior styling is also much better looking and finally up to other new MB models. The Mbux technology is also much more organic compared to the 550 where a lot seemed to be tacked on (which it was!). The E active control (curve mode) also provides significantly superior handling without having to make the ride overly harsh as is true of the 550 on sport mode. Power seems almost identical to me which translate in 0-60 in the high 4's which for this type of vehicle is very, very, very fast! Overall, this new model has addressed the shortcomings of the the 550 and expanded its virtues more than enough to convince me to trade our 550 with 45K miles.
Cleiton Abilio hell yeah! Going to buy one just bcuz of this option. I’m planning to see what I’m going to say when I get pull over when I’m bouncing all over the place.
Finally got mine after waiting since July. Emerald green, E active suspension, 22in rims and high performance Contis. WELL WORTH THE WAIT! I was replacing a 2018 GLS 550. The 580 is a better vehicle in all parameters, when equipped with the active suspension and performance rubber the handling is spectacular, not for an SUV, for any car! The suspension, when shod with appropriate rubber, gives this 3 ton monster ninja reflexes while maintaining one of the best ride qualities in the market. The suspension seems discombobulation proof in any mode. Even in comfort mode its unflappable, on sport plus, reflexes are sports sedan worthy, no hyperbole intended. The powertrain is also beyond reproach, there is no flatfooting anywhere in the power powerband, anytime you floor the pedal the E assist ensure that more than 600ft/lbs of torque are available for amazing acceleration. Not jerky and chassis upsetting mind you, just a reassuringly powerful negative G's while the speedometer moves with ridiculous rapidity. I can't fathom what the 63 is like since this one is already ridiculously powered. The fit and finish on the vehicle are worthy of the price. The paint has a deep luster and the light angle changing color of the emerald green is amazing, its almost black at some angles in the shade. The interior tech and design is in another planet compared to the 550. The question presented was the perennial is it the S class of SUV''s, no its not, its in fact not only more expensive than a six cylinder or an entry level 8cyl S class its in fact better too. Until the S class gets its version of the assisted V8 and the E active suspension, it will play second fiddle to the GLS 580. Its that good.
I work at a carwash and we always have this issue with a lot of new cars, glad they’re now adding a carwash setting, now people can wash their brand new cars without all the sensors panicking.
As a GL owner, no thanks. If I wanted a minivan with an E class interior, I’d buy one. It has lost the square jaw and shoulders that made it so attractive and definitely doesn’t have the special interior touches that define S-class caliber vehicles and prices.
@@nickgaul1209 I don't disagree with you. I was just imagining someone storming out of the Mercedes sales managers office and ripping up the unsigned sales contract because they just noticed the fake plastic vents.
My wife just picked up the 580. I saw a comment in hear concerning all the plastic. I will agree. It is a bit of a let down. Overall great. Amazing power.
@Ib7 h The Mercedes is a bit more luxurious and has the better infotainment system. Also their damper system in their (not only off road) cars is one of the most comfortable ones on the market... I don't see the BMW having any chance against this s class SUV, unless you are talking about performance (laptimes, drag race etc) but these aspects aren't relevant in this type of car segment...
I have no issues with the design. This isn't the model that MB should take a chance on. It stays with the design language MB is going with now, and this fits well within the family. They will sell tons of these!
I have to say this was a great review Sofyan. Very informative and critically expressing the difference between the previous version and it’s current version.
This is what happens when you give Mercedes the Infiniti QX80 and tell them to make it their own. So nice! Modern day dream cars are these SUVs or crossover, whatever we call them nowadays. Great reviews as always.

The GLS is a stretched GLE so why not? Essentially all the goods available on the GLS are also optional or standard on the GLE. This year there is also a GLE 580 which, if you don't require the additional seating, is going to be a killer!
If that’s how the front looks at the top end, the base models must be disappointing. Overall, definitely not an ugly car but also not something that is going to turn heads and wow. At least not for me...looks bland/boring for a Mercedes. Kinda screams Jeep Grand Cherokee from the side profile. The new BMW redesign is a lot more eye catching and even the Audi, Lincoln, and Cadillac look more interesting.

I have the 2020 GLE350 with AMG exterior appearance package & this new GLS is pretty much a stretched out version of the GLE. Did anyone else notice at start-up, the graphic in the gauge cluster was of a GLE?????
