Are you serious? I always smile and wave at people, but when I am busy in a 2 ton car at a 35° incline with 2 passengers on board and another 2m wide vehicle passing by at centimeters distance, I tend to concentrate myself on driving and keeping the car from rolling over instead of waving, don't you think that's the better decision in that case? :) I didn't even see anyone in the other car because I was focussed on our car. Probably you have never been in a car at this angle before, on camera is looks way less spectacular as it really is, in reality, you feel like you are rolling out of your own window if the seatbelt wouldn't hold you. Try it: Put a pillow on a sofa and lean on to it. And then imagine you would be driving in a car in that angle. So judging my character by not waving in that situation of potential danger is clearly one thing of you: not nice.

Great review as always, interesting to hear that the ride is similar to the new GLE. There was a night and day difference between the old version of the GL compared to the ML. The GL was much quieter and had a much more comfortable ride. I ordered my 2014 GL with the active curve feature so it was even softer in a straight line but cornered amazingly flat. The best of both worlds. One thing that disturbs me is that the second row headrests do not fold down out of the rear field of vision, like the old ones did. I really wanted the new GLS to be a premium product, but feel as though it is just a slightly larger GLE. After test driving a S 560 4Matic, I realize that this new GLS is certainly not in the same league as the S class sedan.
Autogefühl from a country where Top Gear was the start and finish of car reviews, your channel does better reviews in about an hour than that show did for its entire run
Perfect job guys thank you Autogefühl/Thomas for the amazing review of this new piece of art from Mercedes-Benz,which is in my opinion the best car company in the world.God bless you guys and keep up the good work.
The middle seat should've been spring loaded to open quicker for the 3rd row. Strange that the pockets on the back of the front seats are nets. Is this cost cutting?
Great review Thomas in a addition to the suspension tilting and curve funktion I think Mercedes do not offer rear wheel steering on GLE and GLS to prevent dangerous unbalanced high center of gravity situations like a moose test.

As an Audi fan, i must admit that Mercedes have nailed it eversince their new design language was inserted in their portfolio. A review of the new GLS on Autocar mentioned that the E-Active Body Control system won’t be offered in the UK, mentioning that the EABC is “not being offered on right-hand-drive cars yet”. Why not? Why isn’t the EABC available for right hand drive cars yet?

The GLS is a very capable tow vehicle. I tow regularly with mine. It’s good to see that Mercedes has added a trailer back-up assist like Ford has. However no mention was made about an integrated trailer brake controller for electric brakes to tow trailers with electric brakes. Is this an option in 2020?
Other than the video being a bit too long, it was excellently and professionally produced, as always. One note, the US HQ for Mercedes is in Atlanta, Georgia, not Detroit. It is less than a mile from my preferred M-B dealership.
The register the cars in Michigan caus they have their financial services HQ there. You can also enjoy a shorter version here: th-cam.com/users/autogefuel
One reviewer said the curve function made her seasick. That happens with many passengers in tilting trains (Neigezug). The g-forces don’t go away, but are only perceived as being transformed from sideways to downwards (towards the floor), right?
Hi Thomas. Is the build quality as good as it can be when it is build in US and not in Germany? Did you observe anything in this regard during your test? Kr Thomas from Denmark
Tak! Hm, they did have indeed problems in the US plant and the cars had to be reworked in Germany, big issue recently. They now changed suppliers for parts they said
Did you have any problems with the rear seats - not folding using the rear controls? I saw another reviewer out there with you and he had to get the Mercedes guys to resolve the issue.
maybe it was about the ignition? As I said, for some functions you need different power, there is ignition off, ignition lvl1, ignition lvl2 and finally engine running. And you need different power levels for different stuff
Hey Thomas, I always enjoy your reviews from Autogefühl team, especially because we are about the same body size and figure and both care a lot about the sitting comfort and all the subtleties in car looks, build quality, features and driving experience. After viewing your review video of the all new Mercedes GLE, I was first determined to buy a new Mercedes GLE. However, I then decided to opt for a 2020 Ford Explorer, because it makes much more sense financially for a long-term ownership in the US, compared to premium German brands. There are quite a bit of review videos out there about this all new Ford Explorer already, but I will appreciate A LOT if you can make a thorough review about this overall redesigned new Explorer, especially in ST trim, which is supposed to be driving like a "Mustang in an SUV". I was never a fan of American brands until I learnt about this vehicle, so it will be such a pleasure learning how a German expert tastes a new American driving machine loaded with technology in the "Ford's way" for families. Looking forward to it :D

Great work as always here on this Chanel very well done. My criticism relates to the vehicle, such cars can not be the future, even if this car is more likely to be designed for the US or China. Such a huge vehicle does not even make sense with alternative engines in my opinion.
Thanks for the GLS movie thomas!! really appreciate your no.1 review fast release and informative! I have yet to see these 2 in metal but from video...I think mercedes is started to lose in luxury department....the X7 looks more premium exterior and interior wise..I seem to notice some cheap material used in the car.thanks for the full HD video...same goes to X5 vs GLE...Im a mercedes fan but BMW kinda ahead in sportiness and luxury thesedays...better looking, better to drive, better build per say..but mercedes is rather blunt in design and seems to cheaplify things in some areas..and in terms of performance kinda few secs behind. Maybe they'll go full fledge luxury with Maybach GLS and go full performance with the AMG 54/63/73..but as for now the X7 offers both worlds just about right...
A full length special. Clearly this vehicle is an expensive, big beast so not so many prospective buyers. I wonder if you'll be doing a review of the new Toyota Camry hybrid.
You are wrong to say, "in so many ways." The GLS is a better SUV. The X7 is great, but *objectively* the GLS is better at being an SUV, because it has more space, it can tow much more, has a much higher adjustable ground clearance, more comfortable, has a smaller turning circle despite being longer and without rear axle steering, more technology, especially with MBUX, it is more capable off-road. It has better practicality, it has more features like Augmented Reality, dual climate control with heated and cooled seats for the third row. it has better safety technology, E-Active body control, and it is quieter and softer ride. That is just to name a few. X7 is great and has some stuff to challenge the GLS...but, cool things the X7 has, 99% guaranteed the GLS has it or some variant of it too. Things like exterior and interior styling are subjective, though.
Excellent review. MB applied very little effort in making the GLS/GLE better than the previous generation. Underpowered GLS and GLE. with underwhelming tech. How is it that the BMW base V6TT engines are faster than the mid/upper level engines in the MB?? The seats and interior trim don’t look or feel as premium as BMW. This just confirms the new BMW X7 and X5 owns the German Luxury SUV class.

I wonder if you'll be doing a review of the new Toyota Camry hybrid.
We will!
He must be thinking to himself, "My people make such nice things."
If you were in the market, GLS or X7? Which engine? Why?

One crucial argument: Mercedes offers non-animal seating
Thanks Thomas. Long presentation....you must have been out of puff!
7:02 All this time I thought you guys did all your reviews in Europe, Germany to be precise, lol.
we do it all over the world - in normal times
Greetings from the UK Thomas.
greetz!
Great car as always from MB but those rear lights seems awkward to me...
Really fantastic review. I really love the details. May i know the fuel tank capacity? Is it still 100 litres?
Thanks
Thanks 🙏 usually they offer 2 sizes
Any word about pricing?
always be around 100 k in any case =)
Just got a brochure from my M-B sales guy. Base for the 450 is about $76K and $98K for the 580.
@@alexstickney156 Thanks.
BMW X7 such a better car in so many ways!
Hell yes Thomas!!
New Mercedes GLS is very good for the mountain trail.
