I think he said in another video (dont remember which) that some he does live commentary and some is recorded after, usually depending on how stressful the challenge is and how many runs he's already done.
There was so much sibling betrayal between me and my brother, ESPECIALLY on the lava coaster level which was our favorite. World 9 was so hard to beat but so satisfying

The amount of nostalgia this game gives me is almost too much, I can probably vouch for almost everyone that this was was one of the best things in their childhood.
Me, my brother and my sister never almost never made it past the Roller Coster Levels, and we even tried to get our parent’s help. Those times are so nostalgic. I miss when I was younger

I always loved watching the movies in peach's castle showing off the speedruns of specific levels. It was so cool to see how close they got without getting hit and to try to imitate them

it was my first video game too, and now it’s my first speedrunning game. i got a 46:56.59 just now which isn’t competitive but it’s better than the 58:22.06 from my first run (i can’t take videos of my runs yet so this is without subtracting load times)
I played this so much when I was younger, but could never beat the final bowser castle, also fun fact: if you get 99 one ups, Mario and Luigi will take off their hats till you lose one of them

this just opened the floodgates of random super Mario memories from my childhood that I had completely forgotten. When he loaded into the first underground level I immediately was hit with the memory of when I spent countless hours grinding this game. Eazy always manages to find the most nostalgic games to speedrun.

This brings back memories. Me and my brother had a daily screen allowance of 1 hour. One day when his friend came by we speedran through this game. I think we knew that the world 5 boat autoscroller could be skipped, but we didn't try it. I am pretty sure that we did beat the game in just under an hour. That was pretty amazing.
15:12 Nobody ever acknowledges that Mario isn't the one that leaves Luigi behind here. *Luigi closes the door on himself* and the balloon floats away. People are quick to hate on Mario for some reason.
I was once Top 5 and held the Low% WR for this game and i have to admit im impressed with how well you ran considering you are more used to speedrunning strategy games, nice work! ^w^
Those two tricks in World 5 require a lot more practice time to consistently pull off than Eazy probably has. After all he doesn't focus on one game to speedrun but is more like "How good can I get with maybe 1-2 weeks of practice"

I was kinda the same. Like, I knew it was probably commentary but that hadn’t really clicked in my head until now XD

On that level the only thing we did was fight on the roller coaster. It took us like 5 tries to beat it since it was a full out brawl.

The nostalgia is crazy, I remember never being able to get passed world 2 EVER as a kid, and as years went by I eventually beat the game
i would always lose all my lifes and start the game over again
When I was 8 I played with my 6 year old brother and completed the game like 4 times it was fun

World 9 is STRESS! The levels are mediocre in difficulty but the absence of checkpoints makes it pretty rough

World 9-7 is legitimately the hardest level in the game. Took me so long to get all the star coins on it.

Just one thing to note if you ever do this as an actual speedrun is always aim for the bottom of the flagpole at the end of the level
