They have been extremely welcoming to car reviewers like me, and this is definitely much appreciated.
Been looking at this car for few months now, and this review made me want it even more. I am looking for an MPV that won't look "Trying Hard" everytime I have to use it all by myself. + I'm also looking for something that will not only accommodate me, my wife and 2 kids but also something that I can use with my Business. Geely Okavango truly is the one and I can't wait to have one.
Glad this might help your decision to get one. It’s genuinely a good car that has blown me away. I’m riding the Azkarra as I type this reply, and you may want to check that out as well :)
Thank you so much Kyle for a great review. Wet clutch DCTs are reliable because gear shifting is controlled by solenoid valves unlike the dry type that is mechanical. The Geely transmissions really complement the engine. I have driven the latest Fortuner, although HP and torque are impressive however the transmission seems not able to channel the power efficiently which seems a bit lazy. I also drove my gf's coolray and right then and there it reminded me of the jaguar XF 2.2 D albeit to a lesser extent in performance but still handling wise and power delivery pretty much brought back memories.
Yep and generally DCTs are so much snappier than regular slush boxes hence there is a huge power loss despite the Fortuner having high power figures. Thanks btw and glad you found the video nice :)

Kyle Liong. Been watching cars reviews now on You Tube for PERHAPS 18 months now. Hoping to buy a new vehicle, either SUV or MPV. Medium size. During that time, from watching 40 or 50 different posters with car reviews, I've only found half a dozen PERHAPS that do a generally good job in their presentation. First of all, great review. Very professional, fully detailed and straightforward, Caco might finally have a worthy opponent...😉😉. Back to the car, I already have relatives that bought the Oka already and Geely, nevermind its origin, is a good contender to the ever-growing automobile space here in the Philippines. My only gripe with it is its engine choice for all their three models, this, the Azkarra and the Coolray. I'm just really not satisfied with having that 190hp 1.5 liter, 3-banger powering this 1600kg vehicle. Also, it's no match to the one everybody's comparing it to, the Innova, with its obviously bigger 2.8 liter diesel powerplant and rear-wheel drive layout, whatever the performance figure it might have. Its direct competitor SHOULD be the Rush, Xpander, HR-V, Grand Livina if we're comparing it engine-wise. It's like the Innova were to have the Vios's paltry engine. I was also triggered a bit by the Maxxus G50's 1.5L-in a van-sized body. Goodluck with fuel mileage. I think we all get what I mean. Sure, let's give Geely a chance-I particularly like the Coolray's fresh "Swedish" design to even thinking about buying one-but if that's what these chinese players are offering for the price and expecting buyers to patronize their products, sorry to say I ain't buying it. I'm going for the tried and tested, no matter how mediocre the "features" I get. Just my two cents. More power to you Kyle! Consider me a new subscriber.
Wow that’s probably the longest and most detailed comment I’ve ever received. Thanks, and do know that I appreciate these types of comments. Let me share my 2 cents as well regarding your own. I was very much surprised myself that the engine in these cars is only a 3 banger. It does not feel like such, and most certainly isn’t underpowered. Having driven the 2.8L Diesel Innova, I’d have to be held at gunpoint to claim that the Innova has a more usable power band. While the Okavango and Azkarra both deliver 190hp, and 300Nm of torque, and the Innova pumps out 174PS (around 172hp), and 360Nm of torque, both Geelys have a burst of torque low down in the RPM range that is a lot more perceivable than in the Innova despite it having a diesel engine and more peak torque. Perhaps this is in part due to the mild hybrid found in the Geelys. Another important point here is we’ve gone past the age of displacement equaling power. The age old saying that there is no replacement for displacement is just that, an old saying. A 1.5L turbocharged engine pumping out that much power beating its predecessor designs is a testament to how far we’ve come. Sure, there might might be some turbo lag which we petrol heads are not fond of, but at least in this class of vehicles, it doesn’t really matter. Lastly, diesels are efficient, tried and tested, and a favourite of mine for some situations, however we must also recognize that it’s a technology whose days are numbered, hence we should start embracing the inevitable: small, efficient, and powerful turbocharged engines (and electric). Thank you for listening to my Ted Talk and once again, I would like to extend my appreciation for your thoughts and inputs into my videos 👌🏻👌🏻
@@KyleLiongCars I agree with the mild hybrid kick, that's the only saving grace I can see with Geely's implementation here. These new players still have a big hill to climb, IMHO, but if I were to pick one of them it's either Geely or MG. The rest can leave 😜. I'm still skeptical about that G50. I guess only time will tell if these newcomers will be any good. I also apprecate the Ted Talk, healthy conversations like these are very much appreciated. 😊
Glad you enjoyed it too. Fun fact though, the Coolray has the same engine without the hybrid system, yet is a pretty quick and nimble little car with good kick too. Review coming out next week :)

Really great review. Full of information, the comparisons were good, packed full of info, great attention to detail. Convinced me more to get the Oka. Great job, man.
I love how you check the door sounds when closing😆 Idk if I'm the only one but I really like cars with soft sound doors🤣 Toyota is actually one of the brands who nailed it. Ford? Can't relate🤣🤣 Ford's door sound is sooooo gunky🥴🥴
Very detailed informative review You should expand your target audience to include new cars esp mass market ones, I'm sure your channel will explode in popularity if you do...
The Okavango is a nice car, it has a lot of potential to compete in the market here in PH. my guess is that the innova will still dominate the market here in PH, as filipinos know what the Toyota brand is and thats why they buy them, but the Okavango is a better car overall than an Innova
Your reviews are so good!!! Glad i found this channel. You even mention your height proudly haha. Reviews are so well-rounded. Keep it up. I got the bell on.
Concise, interesting and no joking around (if you get the pun). You gained a subscriber here. Wish you’d review the azkarra, and the subtle differences of the drive. Am deciding to buy between the two, and am waiting a respectable review.
Finally, I found a car review channel worth watching! I love the natural flow, love your style - LIKED, SUBSCRIBED, AND CLICKED THE BELL !!! p.s. - I hope you keep the 'stache around til Movember
Great review! Agree with others’ comments - you made us decide to get this one instead of the other options. Can’t deny I had hesitations until I saw this review. I think I made up my mind, we’ll get the Innova, haha! Kidding aside! Okavango is my next car!

Stumbled into this review because I was checking out the Coolray. Excellent review. Love the camera work and editing. I also notive that this is one of your most viewed videos. Looks like a lot of people are interested in this Geely model.
Very fortunate to have someone help me with the shoot and editing for this video hence the improved quality haha! I just shot a video review of the Coolray to be released in a couple of weeks. Do stay tuned for that :)
Love your review. So natural I thought its Malaysian. So young and yet your so good in reviewing. I've been watching a lot of car reviews. Coz I'm planning to get one. But your voice is so cool. New subscriber her. You deserved more subs. Thou. Goodluck. 😘
I've already seen around 20 reviews of Okavango Urban Plus, this one I've hit the Like button. The only one to use a drone to emphasize the Sports mode. Crisp and straightforward in the reviews. Bravely compares with Innova. Great videos and editing. One thing I wanted to see though is the automatic window wiper when it rains. Maybe use a garden water hose instead? Keep it up! a good future in car reviews ahead.
Thanks for that and glad you liked the video. Sorry I skipped over the automatic wipers as I didn't think they would be that noteworthy to showcase given how common they are these days haha! I'll keep that in mind for some future videos :)
Thanks for the video Kyle. I think the Okavango is the best 7 seat Crossover available in the Philippines. My guess is Geely likes to call it an MPV because there is very little competition in that segment.
Well, that reasoning makes sense too, however if we look at the unibody constructions of the Okavango together with its ground clearance and general design, it just cannot in any way be classified as an SUV
@@KyleLiongCarsCrossovers are the most popular vehicles in the USA and we probably have close to 50 different models and I could list probably close to ten with roughly the same dimensions

Typical Toyota owners be like. Is it durable?its made in china. Blah blah blah They forgot innova is made in the Philippines, why its so good though?. Id rather own a geely than a mitsubishi(on MPV segment). This car is so advanced and feature packed making it difficult to fix when its broken, but what could be broken?normally when this car gets old,its the electronics, and some moving parts like suspension, brakes and rubbers.
Very nice car review Kyle, well you made it simply very understandable with smooth transition on the cars features, because of that, I'll subscribe your nice channel. 🙄 Keep it up.
caco tirona finally got some competition 👍👍👍keep it up kid. geely really is crushing the competition. got my coolray last january 2020 and im still watching coolray reviews 😄. never did a test drive actually😄
Thanks! I still find Caco to be the best in the country, but it sure is a huge compliment to be compared to him somewhat. I also made a Coolray review btw ;)
Nice review. Hope to watch more of your car reviews. The okavango looks more like an SUV/crossover than an MPV. But the inside is an MPV. Hehe. Best of both.
Thanks! The Okavango’s specs are all technically an MPV, and its ride comfort definitely reflects that. I personally dislike SUVs in general, so the fact that the Okavango doesn’t feel like such is definitely a plus for me :)
Actually I'm interesting with all of your driving experience Kyle.. but I would suggest if you can do some more testing using speed logic tester. So, we can know how fast the car can move from 0-100 kph in how many seconds. And would be better, instead of explaining if you can try all features & do some sample. Hope can attract more subscribers
Man, amazing review... makes me want this car even more... How bout the air bags, how many does it have? other Safety Features?... Such an impressive review.. keep it up.. 1 sub here..
Hey man I love your videos and learned a lot! Would you recommend this over the Chery Tigo 8 Pro? Priority is comfort and smoothness for the fam. (Fun to drive/euro look is also a +) Budget is around 2m.
Depends on what you’re looking for. We need to separate comfort and smoothness to compare the two. Comfort would go to the Tiggo 8, but the Oka is smoother.
With this review, it has come down between Okavango and the Maxus G50. I also saw your Maxus D60, hope you can do a comparison between the top of the line Okavango and the Maxus G50 Premier
There are alot of negative feedback on casa maintenance on other brands (japanese brands). Like over charging or maybe asking to replace some parts that is in good condition. I would like to know if, geely be service outside casa? For regular pms, aircon cleaning etc.. and for example, for some unknowed reason the car just stalled in the middle of the road (provinces), how do we have it checked and fix?
This is a better review comparing to the direct competitor not like the other reviewer who cannot afford to mention other car brands to compare at least.
@@KyleLiongCars thanks! yup, only the panoramic sunroof and the feature that you can change driving mode while driving that i don't have. the gas consumption only sucks when i put it on sportmode but the power it can get upto 200+ kph. so far my topspeed is 180kph 😅
The only thing that keeps me is the untackled/undiscussed issue and therefore uncertainty about the effective lifetime of the 48V EMS battery. Anyone from Geely to discuss this? Ty

Excellent and very articulated review. You earned my sub! Review the Coolray next please!
Thanks sir! Hope you like the rest of the vids. Coolray soon
I am thinking about my first car. And ayun na nga ang dami nagsasabi sakin toyota toyota toyota yes un ang first option ko pero in my mind i want something new at hindi pare pareho sa iba. And ito nkita ko na to si geely pero im searching lagi sa reviews and infernes ito yung na satisfied ako na review. So now i finally decide to get my first car the geely okavango urban plus. I will get it on my the month of october this year or mas early this year. Thank you kyle.
My pleasure!!! Hope you enjoy your Geely soon hehe :)
Subscribe to this young man. It's my first time to watch his car review and I tell you I'm quite impressed with how clear he describes everything about the vehicle, on point, simple and straightforward. More power to this channel.
By the way, I just want to make a request, Kyle can you please make a thorough review of the MG-6 fastback sedan, I'm very much interested with that car and it's on the top of my shortlist and I need your honest opinion with that. Thank you
Thanks for that! Let's hope MG sends me one for testing
Really great review. Full of information, the comparisons were good, packed full of info, great attention to detail. Convinced me more to get the Oka. Great job, man.
Glad the video was helpful to your decision making!
New sub here. One of the best car reviews I've seen so far.
The Okavango is really my bet in the MPV category.
Thanks for subbing! Great choice with the Okavango
300 words per minute. Fantastic review.
Thanks
I love how you check the door sounds when closing😆 Idk if I'm the only one but I really like cars with soft sound doors🤣 Toyota is actually one of the brands who nailed it. Ford? Can't relate🤣🤣 Ford's door sound is sooooo gunky🥴🥴
Yeah I love doing that for all my vids haha! I particularly don’t like soft sounding doors myself, as they don’t give me a sound of reassurance 😅😅
Saludo ako sa english mo tol.. Napakalinaw ng mga sinasabi mo.. Great job on the review.
Salamat sir
Very detailed informative review
You should expand your target audience to include new cars esp mass market ones, I'm sure your channel will explode in popularity if you do...
Thanks! Ill be doing a couple more new mass market cars, but I also don't want to let go of old cars which is where my passion lies
The Okavango is a nice car, it has a lot of potential to compete in the market here in PH. my guess is that the innova will still dominate the market here in PH, as filipinos know what the Toyota brand is and thats why they buy them, but the Okavango is a better car overall than an Innova
@@KyleLiongCars The value of the Okavango is great, especially for the Filipino
@@flymnl Sure is that's why I highly recommend it
Bro, you should work on getting a Buy Now button on this channel. You'll sell a hundred Geelys a month. 💪😆
If only there are top fan badges here, you’re #1 hyper HAHAHA
Your reviews are so good!!! Glad i found this channel. You even mention your height proudly haha. Reviews are so well-rounded. Keep it up. I got the bell on.
Yeah not mentioning my height wouldn’t change anything anyways HAHAHA might as well own it! Glad you liked the vids
Now after seeing your review i change my mind to okavango urban plus… thanks
Great choice :)
Hey man i love your channel. I thought you spoke too fast at first but as i watch through it's just been so smooth. Subscribed!
Thanks! I gotta speak fast cause I have so much things to talk about that I don’t wanna leave out hahaha! Glad you liked the video :)
I love the Panoramic Sun/Moon roof!!!
Great review Kyle!!! ❤❤❤
Thanks! I love it too
Concise, interesting and no joking around (if you get the pun). You gained a subscriber here. Wish you’d review the azkarra, and the subtle differences of the drive. Am deciding to buy between the two, and am waiting a respectable review.
Thanks! I've already done a video on the Azkarra, actually 2 videos, but they're still currently being edited. To be released soon :D
@@KyleLiongCars will wait with bathed breath 😁
Your review made me decide to buy this car. Thank you! Keep em’ coming!
More to come! Check out Geely Fairview if you'll be buying this. They told me that they have some deals available :D
@@KyleLiongCars I sure will! Happy driving!
This guy has the guts to tell everyone bluntly that the Innova sucks. Nice! Will subscribe 💪
Thanks :)
Finally, I found a car review channel worth watching! I love the natural flow, love your style - LIKED, SUBSCRIBED, AND CLICKED THE BELL !!! p.s. - I hope you keep the 'stache around til Movember
Thank you! Bruh I have another stache now and am 10 mins away from a shower and a clean shave hahaha
Best review I've watched so far. Now I have to choose between Askarra and this Okavango. 😊
Thanks! Need 7 seats? Okavango. Don’t need 7 seats? Azkarra.
I think i have decided what i will buy, but then i saw this review of yours. Haist hirap talaga magdecide kung ano bibilhin hahaha
Geely na haha
Great review! Agree with others’ comments - you made us decide to get this one instead of the other options. Can’t deny I had hesitations until I saw this review. I think I made up my mind, we’ll get the Innova, haha! Kidding aside! Okavango is my next car!
New subscriber here by the way
Good one! hahaha! I literally just made a video comparing this to the Innova haha! Might be uploaded next week! If you do choose to get the Okavango now though, you may contact Geely Fairview! They're the ones who lent me this car.
Do stay tuned for that :)
one of the best auto reviews ive ever seen. . keep it up and thanks for your insights, if i have enough money i will definitely buy this car
Thanks! Hope you get this some day
Love your review. So natural I thought its Malaysian. So young and yet your so good in reviewing. I've been watching a lot of car reviews. Coz I'm planning to get one. But your voice is so cool. New subscriber her. You deserved more subs. Thou. Goodluck. 😘
Thanks! Hope you end up getting the right car for you :)
@@KyleLiongCars Hahaha OMG they're common! My bad! 🤣
Yes very common haha
Oy you know what, you have one of the best reviews! Legit! Makes me wanna consider geely okavango tuloy 😂
Thanks po hahaha! Get an Okavango na, or better yet, the Azkarra!! Review on it soon
Best feature is that it looks to to go good from the front
Agree. Interior too
holy geesz this kid's reviews top notch!
Thank you
Wow super nice review!! 🔥🔥🔥 Grabe sa details!!
Hehe thanks bro
Awesome review. This guy is lit. He's born to do this. 👌
Thanks! Whatta compliment haha
My guess is if Geely called it a Crossover everyone else would too...no biggie I'm probably going to buy one when I come back to the Philippines
Yeah that I agree with haha! It could pass over as a crossover at most :)
@@KyleLiongCarsHappy Holidays Kyle I love your videos 🙂
Of course it's new all is great.
Would love to see a long term review of this MPV.
Yes same. We'll know in a couple of years
Okavango all the way! This is what you call, "SULIT!". It is like your owning a VoLvo car with this one! 😍
It is really good
This guy is so insane…. 🤣🤣🤣 caco in the making… he really doesn’t stop talking and talking and talking… panget siguro ka inuman to… sya lagi mag sasalita… 🤣🤣🤣 kudos…. This kind of review is far way better than the other old car vlogger… may pa bird’s eye view pa… hahahaha nice nice… definitely worth subscribing for…. 💪💪💪
Thanks sir glad you found the video fun! Check niyo rin sir yung Azkarra video :)
Nice presentation as always. Spontaneous 👍
Thanks
Typical Toyota owners be like. Is it durable?its made in china. Blah blah blah
They forgot innova is made in the Philippines, why its so good though?. Id rather own a geely than a mitsubishi(on MPV segment). This car is so advanced and feature packed making it difficult to fix when its broken, but what could be broken?normally when this car gets old,its the electronics, and some moving parts like suspension, brakes and rubbers.
Stigma should really be stopped :(
Very nice car review Kyle, well you made it simply very understandable with smooth transition on the cars features, because of that, I'll subscribe your nice channel. 🙄 Keep it up.
Thanks so much! Hope you like the rest of my videos :)
Same here. You’ve got a new subscriber..
Thanks too :)
I'm from the U.S.A. . And I would consider this vehicle premium grade!
Yes it is surely premium feeling for any standards. Not luxurious, but premium.
caco tirona finally got some competition 👍👍👍keep it up kid. geely really is crushing the competition. got my coolray last january 2020 and im still watching coolray reviews 😄. never did a test drive actually😄
Thanks! I still find Caco to be the best in the country, but it sure is a huge compliment to be compared to him somewhat. I also made a Coolray review btw ;)
You may have just convinced me to get one 😅 lets see test drive results. Great review!
Yup let’s goooo! Call up Geely Fairview first thing tomorrow :)
I enjoyed this review. Thank you. You deserve more subscribers.
Thanks! Glad you liked it
Ganda ng review. Detailed and very helpful, liked and subscribed. 💪
Thanks po
You deserve a subscription!
You've been very consistent and well rounded.
Kuya paisa! 😂😂😂
Thanks sir! I’ve been trying to be consistent with the videos pero not sure how long kakayanin haha! Baka maubusan ng test cars 😢😢
@@KyleLiongCars Be optimistic! Good luck!
Keep safe and sound...
Yes hopefully hehe!
One of the best review channel
Thanks
what an excellent car review....keep it up :)
Thanks
Nice review. Hope to watch more of your car reviews. The okavango looks more like an SUV/crossover than an MPV. But the inside is an MPV. Hehe. Best of both.
Thanks! The Okavango’s specs are all technically an MPV, and its ride comfort definitely reflects that. I personally dislike SUVs in general, so the fact that the Okavango doesn’t feel like such is definitely a plus for me :)
@@KyleLiongCars got the Urban. Its such a smooth cruiser. Solid feel. Only time can tell tho. Keep up the nice reviews. Very natural. Subscribed bro!
Yes I think even the regular Urban is already great. Thanks again. No script for me so it feels more natural haha
Too small of an audience for now to invest in a tester haha but the samples could be shown in the future. Thanks for watching
Man, amazing review... makes me want this car even more... How bout the air bags, how many does it have? other Safety Features?... Such an impressive review.. keep it up.. 1 sub here..
Thanks and glad you liked it! It has the usual stuff like ABS, EBD, Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist, and 6 airbags
dahil dito nakapag decide na ko about Okavango vs Inova, I will now go for Okavango pera na lang kulang 😅
Good choice haha! Antay antay lang sir someday hehe
Wow the quality of this review is outstanding. Well written script. A bit too nice on the negatives tho
Thanks! I tried to be as fair as I could for its price haha! No script btw for all my videos 😄😄
Keep it up Kyle, you gave a great review!
Thanks
I only watch you and Caco, the best in the business
Thanks
I’ll try to get my hands on the G50 to make a proper decision :)
1 of the best 7 seater suv in the world.
😍
Hi! Does this also have a built-in dash cam just like in the Coolray you reviewed? Thanks!
Nope
Hey Kyle, if you have to choose, will you pick this Okavango Urban Plus over a Montero GLS Sport?
This
Getting that Julia Richards Presello vibe but for car reviews. haha Great work!
Who’s that?
@@KyleLiongCars Main presenter of Presello (YT channel), she does house tours/reviews here in PH.
Oooh. I’ll check her channel out haha
Nice review to watch and more of your car reviews..........

Oh, and OBD II
nice review. please note that the Toyota Innova is an 8 seater mpv, not 7. The Okavango is indeed interesting.
Yes agreed. The Okavango can kinda do 8 too in a squeeze haha! Same goes for the Innova. The 3rd row is a squeeze for 3
Drone shot was 🔥
Thanks
This is a better review comparing to the direct competitor not like the other reviewer who cannot afford to mention other car brands to compare at least.
Thanks! Perks of being an independent reviewer :)
Regarding the breaks, it is also comparable to chevy
Very good review, keep it up 👍🏼
Thanks
solid ng review mo sir, unlike

✌️✌️✌️
Hah?? Kanino po? Pero sige thank you hahaha
finally! hahaha so nice to see the urban+ mine is only urban
Both are great! I don’t think you’re missing out that much even if you get the regular Urban!! Congrats on your car :)
@@KyleLiongCars thanks! yup, only the panoramic sunroof and the feature that you can change driving mode while driving that i don't have. the gas consumption only sucks when i put it on sportmode but the power it can get upto 200+ kph. so far my topspeed is 180kph 😅
Loved the car overall including it’s more than decent fuel consumption. Put it into comfort or eco and just enjoy the smooth drive :)
@@jiyul6047 ano pinagkaiba ng okavango urban plus vs sa urban lang?

5 years
The only thing that keeps me is the untackled/undiscussed issue and therefore uncertainty about the effective lifetime of the 48V EMS battery. Anyone from Geely to discuss this? Ty
