    Love the idea of Notion but sometimes i just want it to work like Excel; Sum cell A - Sum cell B and without a separate column..

      I totally get that! I still use excel for spreadsheet work because of pivot tables, formulas etc. Notion isn't a spreadsheet so I try not to treat it like one.
      I do use Notion for everything else tho 😅

    Awesome video !
    I have two number col and they are "Total minutes", "Completed minutes" and a formulae field i.e. "Remaining minutes"
    i got the sum total of all the three col listed.
    Having said that the question that i have is how do i show a percentage to represent how much "percentage of minutes" is left?
    Let's just assume that i had col 1 total as 200 min which is "Total minutes" and then "completed minutes" total as 18, so how do i show that "91%" of work is left ?
    I would like to show this at the bottom of the table as a summary percentage.

    • @DannyHatcherTech
      @DannyHatcherTech  ปีที่แล้ว

      You would srite the math in the formula. To add a percent sign you can do it but removes the option to use the value as a number.

    How to add serial no.s - I am making a reading list where I want to get automatic serial no. (For eg: not manually typing - okay #1 then #2 in each row alongside my book names

    • @DannyHatcherTech
      @DannyHatcherTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      adding an automatic count is not possible in Notion to my knowledge. For a formula to work you would need a relation to the previous entry, then rollup the number and use a formula to add on but there is a bug that stops that at 7 😡 has been there for 6+months.
      Currently it is just adding the number manually 🤷‍♂️ not great I know!

    Is there a way to generate the total of a column such that I can then pull that total into another Database. When I try a rollup with "Calculate Sum" it does not actually give me a sum of the total of the numbers in the column, it just gives me that column as it exist in the source Database.

    • @DannyHatcherTech
      @DannyHatcherTech  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It is doable but requires what I called a bounce database page.
      This is one of the reasons I used excel for things like that when I used Notion in the past.

    • @DannyHatcherTech
      @DannyHatcherTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes formulas a row specific. You could use table view calculations but by the sound of it you will need to relate all the pages to a single page either in the same database or another and do the calculation in the rollup that way.
      Or in a formula 🤷‍♂️

    I am trying to figure out the following: I have two DBs, one for content campaigns, and one for the individual pieces of content that comprise the campaign. I have a "release" date property in the Campaign DB, and in the Content DB I have a rollup property for that release date. Is it possible to create a formula property in the Content DB that converts the rollup property from the Campaign DB into a date property for the individual entries in the Content DB? Thanks so much!!

    • @DannyHatcherTech
      @DannyHatcherTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If i am understanding you correctly you should just be able to format the rollup into a date property (earliest or latest date) for it to be shown in a calendar as I assume that is the end goal.

The formula that I have in mind is something like this 'if it's a LONG position, use this formula -- 'Close minus Open'. Otherwise, if it's a SHORT position, use the formula 'Open minus Close'. The Open and Close properties are both numerical. Thanks for taking the time to reply to me 🥺

    Great vid! There is this one formula though that i really struggle with...I want to return "High", "Medium" or "Low" for a given value range. I.e. return "low" when "Value" is less then 0.8, return "high" when "Value" greater than 1.2. And if in between, return "medium".
    Thing is: I only get "medium" as a return, even when "Value" is way below 0.8 or above 1.2. Do you (or anyone else for that matter) know how I can fix this or what I'm missing? Below is my formula:

      To my understanding yes but with a caveat. Code is commands for a system to take lots of inputs to create an output, and the language of the input can change.
