I wasn't expecting to be able to tell the difference in the blind test, but having owned a solocast for some time, I understood that it wasn't able to reproduce the brightness in your voice. the highs were a bit dumbed down. But hey, a simple EQ tweak or even a 3 band equaliser in OBS has fixed that problem for me, so I'm very happy.

Very useful review, I just was wondering about this both options, I didn't had seen about SoloCast and it seems is more near to my neededs :D (voice recording for youtube videos)
I just found your page and I’ve already watch 6 videos. Love the authenticity, education, and quality of your videos. I’m starting a podcast. Do you have a recommendation for a mic to start with?
Amazing stuff and comparisons. If you are just an average consumer playing video games and want a good mic, then you really should not go any farther than hyper x solocast. The only reason why I think a quadcast maaaaaayy be worth it is to fuck with friends on stereo mode.
I have ordered the solocast, I just wanted a mic for video calls and occasional streaming on twitch, I wanted the quadcast but I couldn't really afford to spend the extra and the red lights put me off, I plan to get a higher end mic in the future, I really want to get the elgato wave 3 mic, thanks for the review, it's definitely the best one I have found
What are you using to record your camera? I am new to this and am currently using quicktime movie recording, but I find a slight audio&video lag/delay and have to properly sync them afterwards
I use OBS. One of the best parts about OBS is if your audio and video are desynced, you can apply a delay to whichever is rendering first so you never have worry about syncing in post. This was a huge problem for me for a while too.
Thanks. Subscribers have never been my goal though. Either way, subs come as a result of volume and algorithm based content rather than production value.
i got the hyperx cloud 3 thanks to your reviews and very happy with it. Do i need a microphone like this if im only playing fps. I have the budget but, would these mics make any difference really?

Hi! Is the Hyper x SoloCast Mic compatible with a samsung tab? I want to use a mic to make voiceovers for my TH-cam videos. I want to make sure it is compatible with my samsung tab s8 plus :)
Hey man, loving your reviews. I just got a solocast a few days ago, but can still return it. Is the Samsung microphone you'll be comparing it to that much better to where I should return it? I'm using it for zoom calls/some video games, so the built in stand for the price plus sound quality has been great. However, my window mounted AC is an everpresent white noise on zoom, as it doesn't have discords noise suppression. Would the Samsung microphone be significantly better at doing that naturally?
Yeah, the Q2U is significantly better for that as long as you make sure to point the rear at the sound source you're trying to reject. I recorded a quick demonstration with my own space heater which is super loud, so hopefully this helps. th-cam.com/video/coUZKiMwMJc/w-d-xo.html
If u use the deskstand does it pickup mouse/keyboard noises? or did u use boomarm from the go, if so, does it eliminate that problem? Also it is plug and play no tweaking with hyperx software, right????
i know this is an old video but would u recommend the solocast for gaming? i dont have a desk so i cant buy a mic arm and it picks up a lot of keyboard sounds i can see from this video or should i get the quadcast cuz its on 40% sale right now
Not for gaming. The Samson Q2U is going to be better than both if you want to minimize background sounds. But a question is since you don't have a desk, how are you going to be positioning the mic?
@@BadIntentStreamTechReviews just Infront of me or beside my keyboard it's a drawer that has clothes in it I just have no way to stretch my legs so no handle to attach the mic arm, also thanks I'll check out that microphone
Definitely will need the QuadCast for that, because the SoloCast only has a single capsule to record in one direction. The QuadCast has 3 capsules, so you can change it to bidirectional or omnidirectional depending on the angle.
i need to get a new microphone, because my tonor q9 constantly micro-unplugs causing voicemeeter to not recognize it, and its probably because it uses a usb type-B to connect into the microphone
Right now I could get the Solo for 40€ and the Quad for 70€ I don't really want to spend the difference just to get the gain knob but it's also making the decision difficult. Are third party softwares and an antipop filter going to make up for Solo's shortcomings?
You can't really get rid of plosives with software. You can buy any physical pop filter, but it will of course add to the price. Some noise reduction filters like the ones in SteelSeries Sonar can reduce the sound of shocks from keyboard typing.
@@BadIntentStreamTechReviews thank you very much for the timely response! I luckily do not have a very loud keyboard and was planning to get a stand anyway, do you think the Solo's still a good choice or there are better at the same price? I plan to use the mic for basically everything, from discord calls, playing to recording
@@DottorHealer Not sure how much the Samson Q2U is where you live, but it's the best overall mic in the price range imo. It's a dynamic mic with good background noise rejection and good shock resistance. It's a bit lacking in terms of stopping plosives, but the form factor makes it easy to angle it so you speak past it instead of directly into it.
@@BadIntentStreamTechReviews Around 90€, unfortunately way out of my budget but thank you for the suggestion and the talk. I have some extra knowledge to base my purchase on
HyperX SoloCast, mainly because it's generally a lot cheaper. Sound is a bit better on the Seiren X, specifically the plosive rejection and shock resistance. But unless it's on sale, I think it's not worth it.
Very cool introduce! I'm starting to create new content on my channel and my question is, is it worth using this mic as a HyperX SoloCast? I heard it has a good quality. What do you think? good for a beginner TH-camr?
I bought it few days ago and I simply love it. It's sturdy, the quality is noticeable and the mute button on top is a godsent. I do have a semi mechanical keyboard and even sitting above it, it doesn't pick any clicking or typing during conversations on Discord, it does tho during recording so the arm's still advised.
Which mic do you prefer over the Hyperx QuadCast S? I have a BLue White Textured Snowball.... but I was thinking about switching to the HyperX Quadcast S.
I think the best upgrade from the Snowball is the Samson Q2U. The QuadCast S is good, but unless you really need the RGB I don't think it's worth the price. I prefer to use either the Q2U or the Razer Seiren Elite when I'm not doing reviews. It has a similar tone to the QuadCast, but it's a dynamic mic so it picks up less background noise and it's usually like $60 cheaper. I compared it to a bunch of other mics if you're interested: th-cam.com/video/9BqGhzFKXkY/w-d-xo.html
I used to have a Blue Snowball and made the switch to the quadcast s. I have loved my quadcast s, but the main reason I bought it was that it has addresable rgb for twitch branding and it was a usb-c connection. As someone who is trying to make every one of my cables usb-c, I found it was a great option. But for those who are just trying to buy a mic for discord calls or buisness video calls, I would go for something cheaper like the solo cast or the Samson mic he sugsuggested. Keep in mind you can find brand new ones on eBay for $130.
A few basic things are speaking as close to the mic as possible, sound treatment (foam pads like Elgato Wave Panels), and just not having lots of hard solid walls in the recording space.
Great video. I like how minimalistic the solocast is to be honest.
